Whenever I forget to pack my lunch or want to take a break away from work, I would head down to plaza cafe with friends and get me some made to order food. my top faves Are loaded grits, Roy's Special, Chicken&Waffles, soup&salad, breakfast sandwich and Thursday Special-Bibimbap! Plaza Cafe have had a Change of ownership for almost a year now, hence the updated look of the restaurant but same friendly cooks & same menu I just wish they'd bring back garlic rice. I suggest to phone in your order during rush hour.

It's a kind of disorganized hole in the wall and a bit hard to find. The reason to review it here is that if you are staying at the LAX Hilton, your food choices in the hotel are pricey and not very good. So if you want breakfast or lunch (only M - F), then this is an option for you. There is also a second cafe in the office/garage complex next door, Trimana. The latter is a bit easier to get to, but somewhat higher prices. They do have seating though, unlike Plaza which has only maybe 4 chairs. The staff are pleasant here, but my tuna melt sandwich was a gloppy mess; I threw half of it away. And the only French fries are crinkles, which I am not too fond of. There's a lot of menu options, though, so maybe something works well for you. I have attached a bunch of menu photos.

This is my first time trying this business. I just really wanted a sandwich and I'm a big fan of…read moresandwiches specially with those with a lot of meat so I looked on Apple Maps and I saw that this place had great reviews so I decided to try it out. It did not disappoint, Roberto O. took my order and he pretty much suggested what to get as far as a sandwich (based upon my restrictions) and the chips that would complement the sandwich. He recommended the Firebird sandwich and the Funky cushion chips (which is a mixture of salt/vinegar, mesquite BBQ, etc.). After receiving my order, I wanted to view the sandwich and take a bite. I was parked in the 15 minute parking space and one bite turned into eating half the sandwich and bag of chips in my car! I'm very picky about sandwiches and sandwich spots, but this is my new go-to!

I entered the sandwich shop to discover everything is served on Dutch crunch. Cool! A throwback to…read moresomething I've mostly found in the Bay Area. I ordered "the melrose" which seemed to be their flagship sub. It was at the top of the menu--seemed to be basically a turkey bacon ham club type of deal with a kick. Despite there being probably at least 15 ingredients, all I could taste was mayonnaise. The entire texture? Mayo. Blech. I didn't eat the second half. Solidly OK if you like mayonnaise. Who knows. Maybe "the melrose" just ain't the thing to get here. Not so sure I'll be back though.

I'm an East Coast kid, raised north of Boston, with an Italian grandfather who blasted Sinatra and the Rat Pack from his Cadillac Eldorado. Homemade meatballs and chicken parmigiana were staples in our home, so I like to think I know Italian food, especially Italian subs. I love a good Italian sub with extra hots (red cherry pepper relish). I'm on a quest to find the best Italian sub in LA, so I've been trying out some of the classic spots. I finally made it to Sorrento Italian Market. The staff was friendly and helpful, directing me to the sub counter. A kind, middle-aged woman assisted me, explaining the menu had both hot and cold options. I was looking for an Italian sub, but the cold Italian Combination with mustard and mayo wasn't what I expected (we use "hots," a cherry pepper relish, on the East Coast). I was a bit confused, as she thought I was asking about a hot sub. They don't use hots here, which is understandable. Instead, I asked about popular hot subs and was recommended the meatball sub, which many online reviewers also praised. The meatballs were excessively salty, and I generally enjoy salty foods! They were also quite small, almost like cocktail meatballs. The texture also reminded me of canned Chef Boyardee meatballs. While the bread was a bit stale, it became more palatable after being soaked in the marinara sauce. I also wanted to try the pastries. Of course, I couldn't visit an Italian deli without trying a cannoli. I ordered the traditional, regular-sized one and was very disappointed. It tasted like pure sugar; I couldn't even taste the ricotta. It just tasted like frosting, and they overdid the powdered sugar.I nearly had a sugar rush, and I'm not even diabetic! It tasted almost like it was made from Costco. I also ordered bombolone, one with vanilla custard and one with Nutella filling. Unfortunately, they tasted a bit stale on the outside, and I didn't end up eating them. I hesitate to write a negative review for a mom-and-pop spot, but the food was unfortunately unsatisfactory on several levels. I'm not comfortable giving just one star because the staff was friendly and had good banter. I also really enjoy the atmosphere of this old-fashioned Italian deli, so I'm giving them two stars instead.

THIS IS COMPLETELY ACCURATE AND THEN SOME!!!! Yesterday, even though it was almost noon, I took a chance I might pick up a Jackson Avenue Club in a spinach wrap. Besides buying pizzas by Drew Butler, this sandwich wrap is my "go to " every time! Sooo delicious. I was in and out very quickly. I really love my experience every time! I went up to him and asked him if there was a restroom and he looked up and said yes. And then kept working to make the pizza and said nothing else. I decided to wait a minute or two for him to finish up so not to bother him while working so I just stood there for some time right in front of him and when he was done making the pizza. I asked him "excuse me, do you know where the restroom is?". He knew I was waiting there right in front of him the whole time and knew that he was ignoring me. And he outright yelled and said "what's the magic word??" With this angry and annoyed look on his face... I was shaken up and said "where is the restroom please?" And he told me where in the most annoyed voice. And I said thank you and left. This is the most unprofessional the outright rude way I have ever been spoken to. And this really puts a sour taste to me mouth about a place that would hire someone like that.
