At first I didn't like that I could not keep a keen watch on my Grandkids while sitting on the benches, which surround the perimeter, because you can't see over to the other side. Instead of relaxing while the kids play, I found myself running and following the kids around. Maybe that is better anyway. The two toilet out houses are most convenient. Just love this playground.

There a walking trail that meanders around the park. If you want to have lunch or dinner outside, there are lots of picnic tables which are typically clean. There's also a bathroom on site, but recently it's been closed due to Covid-19, not sure if it's opened up again. Parking lot is next to the school. Plenty of spaces available. Overall great park. Five stars.

I was able to get a pin that says I hiked the Silver Lake Trail. so cute! I added it to my pin collection! Within the Visitor's Center there is information about common species within the park and information about species that used the live there before so many people lived nearby. It was very educational and helped me look for native species when walking around. There were also several turtles in tanks to look at and that was lovely. After the Visitor's Center, I went outside to enjoy the trails. There are a few different trails, I was just wandering around. I walked about 1.5 miles. On the path, I took photos of many native species and the biodiversity here is amazing! Partway through the trail, there is an overlook that allows you to look over the water and the view is amazing. I saw many people walking their dogs and enjoying the scenery. There were also a few families walking around. This is a peaceful, well-maintained park that is an excellent spot for birding, walking, nature photography, and much more! This is a hidden gem that I would totally recommend!!

With well over 275 acres of nature, Benjamin Rush State Park is nestled just off of The Roosevelt…read more Blvd, but you would never know it once inside the park. It is quiet, peaceful and the perfect place to escape without driving out of the city. It is the Northeast's hidden gem. With plenty of room to run, walk or bike Ben Rush is a welcome escape from the hustle and noise of the city. Trails for all, paved and unpaved (mostly handicapped accessible but not all) All trails interconnect, so you can explore in short loops or wander the whole 3.1 mile loop. Part of the trail even meets up with Poquessing Creek park for those seeking a longer escape from reality. One of the most interesting parts of this park is the Community Gardens. This area has GROWN (pun intended) over the years since we first discovered the park. A nominal fee will get you a small plot to grow your garden in full sun. You will find more that birds in the sky over the park. With NE Airport nearby, its quite common to see planes flying low over the park. Additionally at the far end of the park is a radio control airplane field where you can watch hobbyist maneuver the skies. While there are no playground equipment, Ben Rush has a lot to offer and with a Septa stop not that far away it is easily accessible to all.

This is a great place in which to get some fresh air and exercise. Deer, rabbits and a variety of birds are frequently present. What I really like about the park is when the sunlight hits the trees just so, it's really beautiful, and, the multiple little hills make for a good leg workout. The main path is only about a mile and a quarter around, so a couple of goes and you've done a few miles.

But in a spur of the moment quest to get my kids some outdoor time, we decided to drive by and check it out. I have to say, we were all pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. The park has a lot of new equipment (which is good for kids between the ages of 3 to 9 I'd say), it was very clean, and there was also lots of parking which was convenient. The one shortcoming is that there's no bathroom or fountain. Other than that though, pretty solid park.

It's nice. It's okay…read more It's not the prettiest park I've ever been to, but nice for a stroll. Two items of note while we covered 10,000 steps on this day: A few beautiful old homes still on park grounds. I don't recall any signage describing why and what they were. A nice renovated covered bridge. The park itself lacked much signage after the first 10 minutes of walking. We had no idea what direction to go to get back to the main parking lot, which was frustrating.
