This is a great place in which to get some fresh air and exercise. There is a paved path that…read moreencircles the main area in the front of the park; a small playground; and in the rear, "off the beaten path" trails, if you will. Deer, rabbits and a variety of birds are frequently present. What I really like about the park is when the sunlight hits the trees just so, it's really beautiful, and, the multiple little hills make for a good leg workout. The main path is only about a mile and a quarter around, so a couple of goes and you've done a few miles.

What a cute little place!…read more This past weekend they had their first Easter Food Truck Festival, and I do not think that they anticipated the crowd that they received!!! Not only could the parking lot not handle the cars, but the rest of the area couldn't handle the crowds lol! This is a historic farm, that was taken over by the city/county, and turned into a historic site/public mixed use property. They have a very nice jungle gym where kids can play on! Sadly my kid is still a little too young for that... So they have a parking lot, which they used for the food trucks, so everyone had to park on the grass, and they ran out of space lol! The food trucks were also way too close together, you didn't know what line you were on half the time lol! They ran a super cute Easter Egg hunt for the kids, and it was 20 seconds long lol! They definitely didn't expect these crowds! All in all a very very cute little park, its just not large enough to handle the crowds they had...

This pocket park in the Borough of Newtown is an activity center for the entire 2,800 population of…read morethis burg. Once ignored and overgrown after the departure of the Newtown Rail Line across Lincoln Avenue, it has been reborn with playground for kids, grassy field for movies at night, and the renovation of the fountain in 2018, in honor of Thomas Linton. The central attraction is the fountain with a cornerstone dated 1917. It was originally designed for drinking water for "man and beast," with a long low trough for horses, that people were welcome to share. The acceptance of the automobile ended the intended functionality of the polished engraved marble, but the true death knell was the closing of the railroad from Philadelphia to its terminus across Lincoln, where there was a small station. Today, most of the track is either overgrown or torn up, although periodically concerned public spirited citizens try to restart the rail service, until they realize that SEPTA has no interest in spending the money and the project would be so expensive as to make private contributions inadequate. A shame because a modern facility with efficient transportation would be successful for business commuters, tourists and train lovers. It would also make this part of the Borough return to a level of economic vitality it has not seen in the 60 years since. Nonetheless, the park is lovely and used by locals year round, but especially in warm weather when the fountain flows and movies attract scores of people with lawn chairs and blankets to hang out together at night. Newtownians would rather keep this community treasure a secret, and that is their choice, but I for one would rather recreate the historic locale that gave this corner of town its original purpose.
