The transitive surfaces are very abrupt. There is lumpy concrete and the steepest parts of the transition a lot of busted pool coping bring a broom with you no locals to speak of so I can't really tell if they're cool there are lights but I'm not sure if they come on overall not a bad place. It's not terrible, but I don't think the Cawley masonry skated in their life.

Part of it was very nice and well maintained, and another part was deserted and boarded up--literally. There were bridges that were blocked but didn't have any signs not to use them, and they were sound enough to us to use... so of course we hopped over the baracades, haha. There also happens to be an above-ground large black-colored gas pipeline running through the span of the park. So much for enjoying nature. Regardless, if I lived in the area I would definitely use this as a running trial!

Loch Alsh is a small park centered around a reservoir in the middle of suburban Ambler. Most…read morepeople don't know it's here but it is a pretty break from all the suburban houses and stores. There are picnic tables to use in the warmer weather but the main activity here is fishing. Note - there is no swimming or ice skating allowed. There are three drawbacks to Loch Alsh Park. The first one is that it is noisy as right next to it is the 309 Highway. Second you cannot walk all around the lake as some of the land bordering the lake is private. And finally, St. Mary's Lake and grounds which directly borders Loch Alsh and would be a wonderful and natural extension to this park is also private. Still it's good to know about this small scenic spot if you are in the Ambler area.

He needed a set of new bearings as one of his wheels was grinding. 3 Way Street was recommended, so we headed over there. The place is very close ti the intersection of Eagle & Darby roads, across from Grace Chapel. With its bright green sign, it's very easy to find. We parked in a metered lot - 25 cents for 30 minutes - and walked the 1/4 block to the shop. Inside it's filled with a nice selection of everything a skateboarder needs from boards to wheels. Super nice and friendly guy had the bearings, and also lubricated his existing set so they rolled freely again. They had gotten wet and one had rusted. We bought an extra set of bearings for future use. Great little store, we'll be back.

This park is right off Bristol Road on an old air base and you couldn't possibly miss it. It's a spot that will please people of all sorts, as there is quite a bit to do. There is a pretty long track that runs along the perimeter of the place, with exercise spots along the way. I believe it says it's about 2.5 miles, which is great if you're trying to keep some accountability. You'll even get to see the abandoned neighborhood through some of the fencing as you walk, which is kind of cool to see. This place also has a dog park within it, as well as a huge playground. It's a great spot to bring the kids, but make them go to the bathroom beforehand. The restrooms are locked for the winter and the porta potties aren't in great shape. If you find yourself wondering across the street, there is another park (Munro) that offers another playground and a place for the skateboarders to let loose. If you know what geocaching is, you will also be able to partake in some of that. Most people I encounter absolutely love this park. Great for runners, bladers, and bikers. For me personally, I enjoy places that are a little more quiet and have nature trails. This place works though.

With well over 275 acres of nature, Benjamin Rush State Park is nestled just off of The Roosevelt…read more Blvd, but you would never know it once inside the park. It is quiet, peaceful and the perfect place to escape without driving out of the city. It is the Northeast's hidden gem. With plenty of room to run, walk or bike Ben Rush is a welcome escape from the hustle and noise of the city. Trails for all, paved and unpaved (mostly handicapped accessible but not all) All trails interconnect, so you can explore in short loops or wander the whole 3.1 mile loop. Part of the trail even meets up with Poquessing Creek park for those seeking a longer escape from reality. One of the most interesting parts of this park is the Community Gardens. This area has GROWN (pun intended) over the years since we first discovered the park. A nominal fee will get you a small plot to grow your garden in full sun. You will find more that birds in the sky over the park. With NE Airport nearby, its quite common to see planes flying low over the park. Additionally at the far end of the park is a radio control airplane field where you can watch hobbyist maneuver the skies. While there are no playground equipment, Ben Rush has a lot to offer and with a Septa stop not that far away it is easily accessible to all.

If you live locally it may be worthwhile but the drive for me was such a waste of my time for what this was. Ready? It's a: Big Wooden Castle Yep, that's it, folks. A gigantic version of that swingset-clubhouse combo you bought at Costco only to rot in your backyard because spiders and rain made it so unpleasant for kids that they refuse to use it. It's that creepy clubhouse times 30! It's pretty much a regular playground with most kids swarming the swings and other play features with a few venturing into the old wood play structure. They go in once and don't go back in again. My son was cursed at by older boys who appeared beyond the age guidelines (and I was surprised to see them still interested in a playground). In the myopic darkness of the castle, my son banged his head when inside the dank structure there was suddenly an unmarked (unlit) drastic change in ceiling height. Needless to say this experience was a turn off. Most kids really preferred being out in daylight because the castle felt more like a dungeon. It was fun to see friends and we enjoyed the togetherness of the play date but unless I'm in the area and desperate for a kid distraction, I won't be back.
