Very nice Mercer County park with what I assume is a man made lake. It had a number of cormorants on it when I was there. I always like watching them. Nice place for a walk and of course , free!

The Hunt House. Originally built back in the mid 1700's, it's now the Mercer County Parks HQ.

Part of the bigger Mercer Meadows park conglomeration, Rosedale Park is the part that's what your average person thinks of when they think of a county park. There's a play area for the rug-rats, there's a group picnic area, there are picnic tables and fire grills, there's a lake and hiking trails. I tend not to start my hiking out of this part of the park because the trail along the top of the dike along the lake tends to be full of goose crap, much like the path along the pond at Veteran's Park in Hamilton. Once you get past the main lake, it's clear sailing, but that first bit can be pretty nasty at times. The better hiking trails are the wooded ones that run off the main paths, and the number of miles within the Rosedale portion are limited, but they lead thru to the rest of the parks in the Mercer Meadows, and you can get yourself a pretty nice run, walk or bike ride. What I really like in this park is the Dog Park portion near the entrance. The area set aside is considerably larger and better put together than the ones at Mercer County Park or at Veteran's Park in Hamilton. There's running water for the dogs in Summer, hills for them to climb, obstacles for them to jump upon or over, and plenty of space. There are two separate areas for dogs over or under 30-pounds. The dog parks are usually pretty busy, especially the one for the dogs over 30 pounds.

Nice place to jog or relax. Dog-friendly too.

When it rains at the dog park!

Really great for running, and dates, best place to watch a sunset. Super big and beautiful scenery, one of the best local places to go

Verterans Park is a nice sized park that's easily accessible from multiple points. The park is…read morewell equipped with various sporting facilities, including tennis courts, volleyball nets and even a small, ver basic, skate park. There's even a location for roller hockey. There are play areas for kids, and picnic tables (including covered picnic locations) for families looking to spend some time out of doors. It can be very crowded on a nice weekend, which is both good and bad, as I'm glad that they park is being used by the Township's citizens, but at the same time, you always want the nice places all for yourself. There are parking areas on different sides of the park, and I prefer to park on the Hamilton/Whitehorse Road side, but that spot is pretty small, is popular with runners, and fills up especially fast on weekends. To make matters worse, for some reason the City recently installed E-Car charging stations there (sure, pick the smallest lot--nice work, Hamilton), so parking in those four spaces is no longer available for anyone, as the even the e-cars must leave after charging. There are well paved paths that lead through the park, and there are park maps located in a few places along the main paved paths. There are also dirt trails that lead through the more wooded areas in the park, but sadly, they are very poorly marked--meaning almost not at all, and it's up to you to figure them out. However, the park isn't so big that you can really get lost, so...go out and try to get lost, and you'll figure out the dirt trails soon enough. They aren't nearly as popular as the paved trails, so they should be your destination if the sensation of having the park to yourself is a goal. There's a dog park located by the Kuser Road entrance. There's a fenced in area for large and smaller dogs, but to be brutally honest, both areas are tiny compared to the expansive dog park located at Rosedale Park in nearby Pennington. That said, if you just want to bring your dog to a place where they can socialize and you're not worried about them having a place to run, it's fine. Just make sure you walk them through the main park itself before or after so that they can get some exercise. On the negative side, other than the poorly marked dirt trails and the underwhelming size of the dog park, the main problem in Veterans Park, which is pretty much the main problem in every park in the county. The city recently put up signs saying there will be improvements made to the paths that include separate bike lanes. It's a good idea, and a necessary one , but I'll be surprised if the people on feet respect the bike lines. Prove me wrong, Hamilton!

They do have pickle ball courts. The surface of the tennis courts could be maintained well. They do have a hitting wall. I see a lot of dog walkers in the club.

One of the very first beautiful days of spring we decided to check out the 5 Mile Woods in Yardley…read more The main trail was blocked off and closed, but it appeared that the other trails still accessible. It was still very early in the season so the trees have not come into their full foliage, but a lot of lovely little spring flowers were popping up along the edges of the trails, the weather was warm. The wind was lovely and the sun was shining. The trails are in desperate need of repair. I am not one for actual built, walking paths through an alleged "Woods" A better name would have been 5 Mile Park. This place very much gave me the vibe of the song Big Yellow Taxi "they took all the trees and put em in a tree museum" the feel of the place was anything, but "woodsy" the entire area was built up with wooden planks and boardwalk style walking trails rather than what one would typically experience in the "Woods". Also, they do not allow dogs. Remember people we can't have dogs running about in the woods. (How absurd) we did encounter some wildlife, several skittering squirrels, and a lovely black snake met us as we crossed the bridge of the stream, I guess he too, was looking for his natural habitat. As the days begin to get longer, the temperatures start to rise and my yearning to be in the outdoors strengthens as these next few months unfold; I will be out and about walking trails and appreciating nature, but I don't think 5 Mile Woods will be where I will be doing it.
