Mercer County Park is a complete park that offers something for just about everyone's needs. Whether you're looking to take the kids to the lake for a swim, go kayaking, let the dogs off leash in the fenced in dog park, ride your bike along paths both paved and natural, or just go walkabout to enjoy the largest park in the county. There are even a small number of campsites that can be reserved during certain times of the year. There are also large playing fields that host tournaments throughout the year for baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc., and rowing regattas are hosted on the lake. At 3.9 square miles, Mercer County Park is a whopping 1.7% of the total acreage in all of Mercer County. The NE portion of the park is part that I like best, as it's also the part that gets the least amount of traffic, with the only folks you see being people walking the trails, birdwatchers and BMX bike riders. I wouldn't advise taking a gravel bike on the paths in this part of the park. I used to come here often with my bike, but now I'm also enjoying the trails on foot. If you're a road bike owner who's just looking for a short ride, the paved paths that run the length of the park, and the broad shoulder of the main road offer a good conditions for a road bike, but you'll need to look elsewhere for a longer, challenging ride. Also, I've yet to encounter the entitled dog owners who think that the leash regulations don't apply to them. I'm sure that they're out there, but perhaps they're not as common as they are at places like Mercer Meadows or Mountain Lakes--fingers crossed. read more

Mercer County Park is a beautiful area. I am not much of a woods guy, but that could change. Last summer we had some time to go fishing, and a little bit of hiking. I had to learn all of this stuff again because i had not hiked since i was a kid, nor fishing too. So, it was a experience for both of us to learn at the same time. Water seem pretty clean here a little. We caught some good fish. Also swam a little bit in the water. Its a lovely place for families and friends. The hiking trails are amazing , and kind of dense, but cool. Next couple months we will be coming back to learn how to Kayak. read more

Although I'm generally not a fan of the imbecilic nature of most New Jersey governments (large and small), the pristine and wonderful Mercer County Park is a rare example of Tammany Hall getting it right. Stretching for 2,500 acres across Lawrence, Hamilton and West Windsor these impeccably maintained fields deliver all the deeply committed outdoor sportsperson and recreation buff can handle. Modern and well maintained facilities are available for basketball, cricket, softball, running, archery, tennis and the list goes on... even including a US Olympic training facility for those hard cores among us who love to row crew. On summer weekends you can find concerts at a very well kept stage that allows you to kick back and let Cesna sized mosquitoes have their way. The line-up is mostly tribute bands of varying sheen (Fleetwood Mac excellent. Earth Wind and Fire, not so much.) Mercer Park is a local gem that sometimes gets lost in the hurly burly of modern life. It's five stars all the way. Tell the mosquitoes I said hello. read more

Pretty huge and clean park, tons of space and things to do there and explore, along with numerous trails. We went during covid19, the first day the state opened up parks again and everyone had to practice social distancing, which is cool with me, lol. There was a lot of park car traffic due to it being the first day people were allowed back there, but the park police did a great job directing and controlling traffic. Me and my woman wanted to have a picnic because the weather was so nice and this was the best park to have it at on such a beautiful day. read more

This is a nice expansive, spacious park that provides for multiple activities including waking/hiking (dogs permitted), biking, baseball, softball, etc. where the park lacks is with signage identifying where to go within the facility for various activities. You have to just drive around and explore. read more

My wife and I love coming to this park! First, it's always fun to grab lunch and watch a game of high school baseball in one of the park's many fields. Once we're done with that, we usually drive over to one of the trails and go on a hike. It's absolutely beautiful (and to echo another reviewer, clean!), with options for everyone. If you want to just stay on the paved trail and enjoy nature that way, you can do that, or you can go onto one of the unpaved trails and feel a little more rugged. The trail markers are a bit confusing at times, but we've never gotten lost, and the hikes tend to be pretty chill (no huge hills!). There's also a spot to view bald eagles, but we've never seen any, unfortunately. Overall, this is my favorite park in the area, and I'd definitely recommend you check it out if you haven't already. read more

Our team makes the trip to Mercer County Park in mid-September for the annual GWN Dragon Boat Festival. Teams from all over the northeast and as far as Chicago and Indianapolis come to compete. 200m, 500m & 2000m length races go on for the whole day. The lake is normally used for all manner of boating sports and even saw a bass fishing boat early in the morning. There's no swimming, of course. The race course is set up for racing sculls launched from the boathouse on the north side of the lake, where Princeton University keeps their boats. The dragon boat festival is usually set up on the south shore, near the official U.S. Olympic Training Site finishing tower. Many vendors (food and goods) show up for the festival as well as other sponsors. The park itself is one of the cleanest and very well maintained. Other facilities include an indoor/outdoor tennis center, baseball/softball diamonds, basketball courts and soccer fields. There is even a skating center for the winter months. If I lived in this area, I would be here all the time! read more

I'm giving the park a low rating for its playgrounds. The boat area and walking paths are nice but if you are looking for fun and unique playgrounds, keep driving. The spray pad wasn't working, two swings were broken and the mulch was worn away. read more

I love coming here! It's so nice to escape in the nature for a few hours. There is lots to do for everyone. Plenty of paved trails for walking, running and biking, great views of the lake, playgrounds for the kids, dog parks for four-legged friends, baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, lots of picnic areas and benches. You may even catch some wildlife roaming around, like deer, groundhogs, and even eagles (which I have yet to see)! There's an eagles nest viewing by one of the trails every Friday at 1 pm. They host plenty of fun events too, like drive in movies and the Italian American festival (prior to Covid). This is a great way to spend the day any time of year! read more

Came here with my Father-In-Law and my boat on Saturday, October 21st. We had never been to this park before, I was very impressed as we drove to the boat ramp. There seems to be something for everyone to do at this park. Very clean, and not crowded at all (considering it was a beautiful Fall day on the weekend). I was amazed that more people were not at this park, it is truly a gem. The fishing was not good for us though. I marked a lot of fish on my depth finder, but we had very few bites (and no hook-ups). Don't understand why, but that should not deter you if you want to go fishing at the lake -- they are there, maybe the day you go, the fish will be more cooperative. Very few boats out on the lake, I also found that funny, since it was a Saturday. Boat ramp is excellent for launching, and there is plenty of parking for trailers in a nearby lot. The people we did talk to were very friendly (whether they were employees or persons using the park). If I did not live 200 miles away, I would be at this park A LOT. read more

Extremely large county park, around Lake Mercer, with what seems to be a plethora of recreational activities: boating, fishing, ball fields, golf, concerts, biking etc. Apparently, the US Olympic Rowing Teams practice here, and many high school and college teams have regattas here. Anytime A municipality devotes this much green space for the publics recreation, that's a good thing. Good job, Merced County! read more

This park wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I was expecting more of a hiking/trail filled type park, but instead this place is geared more towards the sporting and picnicking side of things. Even though I was expecting something else, I still really enjoyed this place. It's very well kept, and obviously not a forgotten little county park like so many I've seen. It's also huge, as others have noted, and their signs aren't all that helpful in navigation. Right now it's absolutely gorgeous with all the fall foliage, check it out before it gets insanely cold. I'll try this park again, preferably with a dog to take to the dog park and play fetch with. So now I have to borrow someone's dog. Mercer County Park is the best park in the area. The trails are marked by the mile. My favorite area when not crowded is the marina. The views of the water as well as the sunset is a nice spot to spend a few hours. There are pavilions and sports fields all over the park. Keep an eye on their calendar as there are numerous event held in the park worth attending including the Irish Fest and the 4th of July Spectacular. read more

Great spot for a run in the fall. If I lived closer, I'd be there all of the time for a run or to relax.

This place is the shit. Pardon my language, but it is! My husband and I love riding our bikes and are always looking for great places to ride TO (we usually like a destination-pit-stop, rather than doing a tireless loop), and this fits the bill. We came most recently the day before the NJ Triathlon (July 2017) and got to see the river all set up and ready for race-day. First of all the park is stunning and sprawling. I was very glad we were on our bikes, because it's GIANT and I didn't want to walk around to explore it all. There are so many different arenas, park areas, parking, skating center, tennis courts.... It kinda feels like summer camp! But better because there are no counselors! Inevitably, during the school year there are baseball games and soccer matches - and its fun to see the families and teams all enjoying! I've never driven here in a car, so I can't comment on parking - but it seems pretty plentiful! There are a ton of foot paths which I can't wait to check out next time too! Overall, a really great park, super close to home! Roads are paved somewhat recently so great for riding and running long distances! Lots of clean grass for picnics if that's your thing! And boat rentals (not during the triathlon! LOL) too. Also - c'mon people! If you own an ice cream truck, or know someone who owns one - get your butt here every single weekend ! It's an ice cream desert! So, I read in the tips that you can usually find a truck floating around, but we've been here 3 times (varying times on Sat/Suns) and haven't found one. And we CANVASED that park, trust me! Bring icecream and I promise you 2 loyal customers every weekend June-August! LOL read more

I didnt see much elevated hiking trails to hike my ass off. The map did indicate there were walking trails but by the time I noticed it I was too lazy to move...let alone hike. This is a massive park (2500+ acres) with over 20 entrances. Our main reason for going was finding the dog park entrance, although we went through 10 separate entrances before we finally found the correct one (to the dog parks, soccer fields, and baseball fields use the Old Trenton Road entrance between Robbinsville and South Post Roads). Lots of prarie dogs in the open fields. There are 2 fenced-in dog parks--one for over 30 lbs, the other for under 30 lbs. If you go early, all of the dogs will be in the over 30 park. The owners are good--no one is overly protective or silly; real dog people. Some of the dogs wrestle and roll around, and others will let the puppies know that they don't want to be annoyed. Large enough to use your Chuck It, with a bag dispenser and a water fountain (during the warm months) Only once did we turn away because there was a 2 year old human child in the middle of the dirt (technically not allowed on the posted rules, but who's going to ask the parents to remove their toddler from the dirt?). A good park, and it's free. We may try Rocky Mount Dog Park, for the swimming facilities, but will wait until springtime to do so. read more

**GPS Traveler beware the address/directions from their site will take you to the back side of the park to the boat area** If you want the festival grounds entrances you want to stay on Quakerbridge until you get to Paxson - otherwise you end up on Post by the canoe launch area and a dead end. This is a really large park that is having a lot of nice work done to it. The festival grounds allow or large events like the Freedom Festival that we went to this past weekend. What a great treasure located in beautiful Mercer County, NJ. Acres and acres of beautiful scenery from ball fields to a dog park, to a marina, picnic areas and amphitheater. This time my wife and I were there for the Central Jersey Beerfest. Great bands, great food (food trucks), great people and weather. It's so easy for people in this area to overlook this TREASURE of a park in their backyard. It's also very easy to underestimate how big the actual park is: it takes a good 7 minutes to cut through the middle of the park from end to end..DRIVING. As far as county parks go, I think this tops them all. It is larger than most *state* parks across New Jersey and is the home to the US Crew Team in Lake Mercer (the main body of water at the center of the park). I guess the entrances to the park are not on very popular roads, but I wish more people knew about this place while I was growing up here. There are several trails for biking/running/walking, a marina on the banks of Lake Mercer which has its own boathouse and where you can rent paddle boats during the summer, festival grounds, tennis courts, an ice skating rink, a dog park, baseball/softball fields, cricket fields, soccer fields, football fields, and even entire sanctuaries for different woodland creatures. There are deer everywhere, and I've even seen some harmless water snakes while I'm running. The roads and playgrounds are very well maintained, and the grass on the rolling hills is always clean cut. There is usually a ice cream truck roaming the park or hanging out near the marina, and on weekends, don't be surprised to see more than one of these trucks competing to give children their ice cream (cash only). Also, I love that on Mon-Wed's, there is free "yoga in the park" at 2 different locations on each end. Not really sure who operates that program, but there are visible signs near them - you can't miss it. My favorite festivals here were always Freedom Fest, Italian-American Fest, and July 4th, but in recent years it's gotten very crowded and commercialized. So, the fun "summertime vibe" has been replaced by crying babies, inconvenient parking, and expensive rides. I also wish they had SOME B-list/recognizable artists come perform on the new stage they built, at a minimum. I feel like there aren't any shows I'd ever want to see, and coming here day after day, month after month for fitness alone can get a little old. But hey, criticism aside, who can say their local, neighborhood park has mile markers that double as stretching posts?? Thought so. read more

Possibly my favorite park in NJ, definitely in the central Jersey area at least. This is a source of pride for the entire state as many regional events are held here. The county uses this space for many festivals, concerts and celebrations. My favorite activities here are mountain biking, hiking and kayaking. The trails begin in the center of the park, but get more interesting the farther out you go. The best can be found near the dam, and on the opposite side of the lake where few "tourists" venture. The marina has a great boat launch, that also serves as a convenient way to get into and out of your kayak or canoe. Plus a little beach for those who like to go old school. The park can fill up on weekends when the weather is mild, but once you go far enough in either direction, you will find there are few distractions. This is a great place for lovers of wildlife, you will almost certainly see herds of deer. And if you are lucky, even bald eagles. Pack a picnic lunch, and commune with nature here. read more

I came to this park looking to do a brisk walk. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to be outside. The park is huge and very well kept. It's a great place to take a stroll and enjoy nature, or ride your bike. I'm a hamster who usually likes to walk around the track 20 times. I did not see a track at this park. As a woman I didn't feel comfortable walking the paths. The park was practically empty and it has too many wooded areas to take that chance. So my advice is to make sure you don't come alone so you can enjoy the trails. read more
