It's clear I've developed a lot of strength from this workout that incorporates ballet, yoga, and mat Pilates moves and I'm grateful it's part of my weekly routine. I've never felt more comfortable in a group fitness setting. The teachers are welcoming, kind, and super knowledgeable. The students come from a range of ages and skillsets and add to the great vibes. I appreciate the instructors' discrete corrections to form, explanations about poses, breathing cues, and variety of moves incorporated into the flow. Barre classic and back to the basics help you work on form and the muscle groups tackled are super obvious. Barre inspire and bold are creative and fly by with the light changes. There are also a good amount of yoga classes offered with excellent instructors that make yoga approachable and fun. I have nothing but praise for this studio that Anna has cultivated.

The instructor I had was motivating, the studio itself is welcoming and they provide all the (very nice) props you need. A couple things to note... You will need sticky sole socks for class, they sell them there but the least expensive is $15. Just an FYI, had I known this before I would have brought my own. I don't personally like working out with the socks, but I understand why they are necessary. Classes are fast paced! This is not a bad thing, but just something to be aware of. I take barre regularly and kept up. But it was a challenging class...in a good way! I'll definitely be back on my next trip and highly recommend checking it out. They have a great new to the studio package as well. You can schedule using the mindbody app too.

I love the separate retail area with dangerously cute clothing and accessories. I noticed they also have a convenient changing area. The best part though was the light and bright studio with plenty of mirrors, barre space and props. The class I attended was a great workout and we did some different and challenging moves. I loved it! Definitely recommend checking it out. As with the original grip socks are required, so either bring your own or pick up a cute pair at the studio.

Both classes were hot - that infrared heat is no joke - and both were hard! Kicked (and sculpted) our butts! We were dripping in sweat and we were a good sore after each. I'd frequent this class if I lived nearby! Bring your own mat, towel, and water. They provide the weights/props. $28 for a drop-in seemed very reasonable! Thanks for a great two classes.

I took the 75-minute Relax Deeply class on Sunday evening, and honestly, I don't think I've ever…read morebeen this relaxed in my life. Some of the poses felt uncomfortable at first, but pushing through that gentle discomfort made the relaxation afterward feel even deeper and more rewarding. The instructor was amazing--calm, clear, and so intuitive with her guidance and adjustments. It was the perfect reset at the end of my trip. If I could take this class every day, I absolutely would.

Similar idea but small isolated controlled movement. Studio was great, clean and good music. Some fun retail items as well. I appreciated the water bottle filling station too. Will definitely return on another visit to the island!

My family and I visited Kauai for a week. Im a California girl addicted to Pilates…read more Being with the family 24/7 my body was yearning for exercise, me time, and stress release. I went on yelp and found Barre Up Fitness, checked the website out and found a deal for $10 first class. Booked the first class, but got lost the first time since Im a tourist and dont know my way around. I called the number and spoke with Lisa. I was greeted by her kindness and compassion and let me tell you, she went above and beyond for me. She kindly clarified the location and set me up for a class the next morning. Even texting me and giving me in writing where to go, and wishing me well. The next morning, I got lost again, but i was closer to the destination. I called her and she quickly ran out to meet me and walk me inside making sure I wouldn't get lost. Upon meeting Lisa, you feel how kind and warm she is, eager to accommodate, and make sure I was comfortable. I was the only one in class that morning, and felt bad she came all that way just for me. She expressed every students is important to her, and she recognizes the time and effort I made to meet her so even, her personal rule of thumb is if it is just 1 person she will come. She is so sincere, and has a great recharging spirit. I told her I was used to Hot Pilates and she turned off the AC for me to taylor the experience for me. The class was "Barre", the Mat, weights, band was all set up and ready for me. Her instructions are clear, and her transitions are seamless. She made sure I had the right form so I wouldn't hurt myself, and would check if I was comfortable. I got a great workout and felt SOO good after. People really need to know about her!! If she was in instructor where I live in California, her classes would be Jam packed. I look forward to attending her class again when I visit Kauai. 100/10 If you're visiting, or a local contemplating on trying her class out, please don't hesitate. Do your mind and body a favor and go sign up.

Small class sizes and fun atmosphere. If you're visiting the area it's a nice little studio to fit in a workout. We happen to be staying in the condos around here and this was a nice little mile walk to get to.

I was originally looking for Pilates, but I found these classes fit perfectly into my schedule--and I'm so glad I did! I ended up doing the Strength & Conditioning class almost every morning with Rose (she's amazing!) and took two fantastic barre classes with Sara (she's adorable and I love her energy). Everyone at The Sanctuary was so warm and welcoming, and the instructors were super helpful, always taking time to explain and demonstrate movements. If you're visiting Kaua'i and want a great workout in a positive, supportive environment--this is the place. Highly recommend!
