This is a picturesque beach on the ocean near Tulum, just south of the Tulum Mayan ruins. It is within the Tulum Zona Arqueológica, which reduces commercial development. "Pescadores" means fishermen in Spanish, and this beach is true to its name. There are roughly two dozen fishing boats moored up each night. Most of the boats today are for-hire, to go snorkling at the reef break just half a mile out or to go fishing.
Unfortunately this beach (as with most on the Yucatan peninsula) is mostly covered by sargassum seaweed lately, a consequence of fertilizer likely from Brazil and surrounding areas making its way into the ocean and coming up this way. Some days the seaweed is very bad, and it's uncomfortable to swim and snorkeling is unproductive. But other days, the seaweed clears up, and you can enjoy splashing in the waves and making sand castles.
Overall this is a great beach if you're in the area. There's many different restaurants and beach clubs to walk between, so you can spend a relaxing full day here. read more
