I love playa bowls, but this location is the worst. They have terrible hours and the excuse is that they can't find help. While this may be true, there are plenty of highschoolers and young adults in the area that would probably want a part-time job. Just yesterday I drove up there only to see a sign on their door that they're closed until November 6...really?? And also frustrating is the parking lot and the nerve of people to block others in as they go into the establishment. Worst parking lot ever. AH-MAY-ZING!!! I came here with my friend for an afternoon treat and I was extremely elated! They have sooooo many options for acai bowls to chia bowls and you can even mix them! They also have smoothies if you're not in the mood for a bowl. I got half acai half chia seed bowl and it came with coconut shavings, pineapple, banana and honey but I decided not to go with the honey I figured it would be sweet enough. It was so refreshing to eat on this Atlanta ... HOT-Lanta summer afternoon. I'm already planning to go back tomorrow to try another bowl. Their combinations are endless and the service is super quick. Since covid is still going on, I really appreciate that this place is cashless and adheres to the CDC guidelines in keeping themselves and their customers safe. This was a fresh and fun dessert! I tried a combination bowl and my husband did as well! My favorite was the coconut base. The bowl also had pineapple, coconut, kiwi and granola. Playa Bowls offers some refreshing açaí bowl and smoothie options but with less bang for your buck. Smoothies range from $8-$9 depending on your size. They come in either 16 or 20oz cups. The bowls range from $9-$12. The bowls are set up on the menu by the base (chia pudding, banana, oatmeal, açaí, etc). They also have fresh juices. I will give them props for their bowl selection, because they do offer a variety to choose from. I opted for one of their smoothies, The Dang, in the 20z size. It comes with banana, wheatgrass powder, peanut butter, cinnamon, and almond milk. I had a couple of issues with the smoothie - it wasn't blended well and they drizzle the peanut butter on the side of the cup, and it wasn't blended in with the other ingredients. I had some banana chunks in mine, and I figure I can make a better blended smoothie at home. The taste was okay, really heavy on banana but I like banana so I was cool with that. Also, the bowls look great but they don't give you a lot for what you're paying. Parking is free but kind of limited depending on what time you go. They are located in the same retail/residential plaza as Fudo and Chronic Tacos on Peachtree Blvd. The actual restaurant is cute and they have a playful theme going on. The first couple times I ordered from this location everything went well and the order was made correctly. Yesterday, I ordered a bowl, but the portions were way off. The acai was not frozen, there was barely any granola, and much less nutella than normal. Sadly, I don't have picture of it. The other alarming thing was the young boy who made the bowl. He made a farting noise as he added the nutella to the bowl. I was disgusted by this behavior, and at how the other employee just laughed. Super easy to social distance inside! Very spacious even though inside seating is not available. Workers are SO friendly. It's kind of pricey but definitely not as bad compared to other acai or "healthy" eats in the area. Plus the menu is so extensive it's hard to find something you wouldn't like! I tried the 8th Ave acai bowl and the Almond Joy Chia pudding and they were both amazing!! The granola they use is super good. I was also totally blown away by their Mermaid fuel juice!!!! This is a great spot to grab an açaí bowl. I always look for an açaí bowl with protein in it, so I go for the power açaí bowl. It has peanut butter, bananas , etc. it's a very tasty bowl. Also the interior has very cool artwork & decorations throughout. There's also smoothies & other items such a jarred honey , etc to select from. This playa bowls is located in a newly built family friendly shopping center with a cool play area for kids located right behind the Playa Bowls. For months my friend has been going on and on about the açaí bowls. She literally talked about how good these are for months. Well, finally I tried the açaí bowl-Pura Vida (I substituted the blueberries for kiwi) and OMG this bowl was sooo good, I definitely understand why she kept hyping these up. It was so refreshing, I was full but I still felt light after eating it. The ingredients used are super fresh, between the fresh ingredients and the crunch of the granola plus the sweet hint of honey! I'm absolutely obsessed with them! This restaurant is located in a small plaza with a private parking lot, parking lot is small but there were a lot of available parking spaces when I went. This location was not busy and the staff was super friendly and helpful, also they were very fast with my order. I would highly recommend this spot to everyone that love these kind of locations. I have the hardest time believing customer service like this still exist in 2023... I made my own bowl..which means I recited my own toppings to them. I understand that granola is a common topping but I did not ask for it. When I sat down and discovered it, I immediately notified the team member who told me it was standard and "trust me it doesn't taste so bad". I was so taken a back I sat back down and saw it was on the bottom and top of the bowl. Amazingly delicious! My boyfriend and I came in for two Pura Vida Açaí bowls. That bowl comes with blueberry, strawberry, honey, and granola toppings. I would give this place 5 stars because the bowls here are amazing but I have to give it a 3. I'm originally from New Jersey and I believe that's where this business originated from as well but the Atlanta locations compared to the New Jersey ones are a crazy comparison. The ones out here close at 7... the ones in NJ close at 10! That's a ridiculous time difference. Also if you ask for extra anything on the side in NJ they'll give you half a cup. Here it's a little container. It's just weird if you're gunna have a franchise, they should all be on the same page.
