Open for less than a month, this new Playa Bowls location is still finding its groove. It's located at the end of a multi-business building complex called "Grove at Montgomery", along Route 206 in Belle Mead. Most of the store fronts are empty, and the entrance sign to the Grove at Montgomery only has Playa Bowls and one other business listed on it. (See photos). Both the outside patio and the inside of Playa Bowls are beautifully designed. The spacious interior has surfboards hanging from the high ceiling, large flat screen TVs showing ocean scenes, wave murals on the walls, and wicker chairs. Everything has an airy, beachy feel, and I momentarily forgot I was in central NJ and not at a restaurant down the shore! Five stars for the breezy relaxed vibe. At the time of my visit, two young women were working and serving 5 customers. The employees were friendly but inexperienced and inefficient. They seemed uncertain about how to make the bowls and never changed their gloves between touching fruit, pulling back their hair, and tapping the order screens. They messed up the order of the couple ahead of me. This caused discussion and delay as both employees stopped preparing food and brainstormed how to resolve that problem. A third employee finally came out from the back office and set things straight and started helping make the bowls as by now the rest of us had been waiting quite a while. I'm rating this Playa Bowls 3.5 stars rounded up to four stars. It has potential to be great once the staff get better training and more experience.

Nothing bad to say about any Playa Bowls location I've ever been to. The fruit is always fresh and delicious! I particularly like the Belle Mead location because of all the indoor/outdoor seating, unlike other playa bowls with more city ambiance that are so tiny and crowded.

Harvest special - autumn flavors without adding the basic extraness that comes with the PSL

I think I am just going to end up loving every Playa Bowl ...I mean their logo is a giant pineapple. How cool is that. I used to love froyo. And then the market became saturated. And then also I became an adult and realized the amount of calories from piling on gummy bears and chocolate on my sugar-added dairy product was NOT a health improvement over ice cream... especially served in get-however-much-you-want format. So I am now saying yes to acai pineapple coconut bases. Yes to healthy but toppings like fruit and granola and sometimes nutella. And yes to customization and deliciousness and freshness and fast service... and definitely yes to finding a pocket of warm tropical vibe at anytime of the year. This location is humungo, easy parking (since the complex is still very new). Has a ping pong table also, although you will only get a few rallies in before your food is ready. Get a bowl to share for a snack, or one for yourself as a mini-meal. Seasonal specialties are the best! We got the Harvest with lots of autumn flavors, without the basic extraness that comes with a pumpkin spice latte.

    Booster Bowl. This is unacceptable.

I door dashed a booster bowl, something I often door dash. I have never been so disappointed in my life with my bowl. I got it in less than 30 minutes so this was not a dasher issue, it was the store. I received a bowl of green soup that should have been a booster bowl with fresh toppings. They clearly did not make it right as it shouldn't have been completed melted like this from the time I ordered it to the time I got it. It will be quite a while before I order from here again unfortunately.

Been meaning to write a review for this place, and finally remembered to do that today…read more So, first off, this is a chain, but don't let that be the reason you don't go. Second, despite the name implying Hawaiian-styled poke, it's really more of a sushi bowl than authentic poke, which, imo, isn't necessarily a bad thing. Both can be delicious and satisfying in their own rights. So, we've ordered from them whenever we're craving sushi-flavors + fresh fish. My go-to order is the Johnny Utah (sub for spicy salmon) and my partner changes it up all the time (but he mostly goes for a custom bowl). We've probably gotten food from them at least 15+ times since they've opened and the quality has always been really good (and at great prices)! The portions are also really generous. My one caveat is that if you do order from them, it's better to just go in-person because the few times we've used a delivery app, we've gotten some interesting mix-ups--nothing major and we're not fussy enough to go back and get the orders adjusted. We haven't tried many other poke places since we moved here and neither of us are a fan of the AYCE sushi places that seem really popular in the area (generally don't understand the pan-asian restaurants, but those are opinions for another day), but Poke Bros has been absolutely solid for us. Definitely going to continue relying on them for mid-week sushi-flavor cravings!

There's white rice, brown rice and sushi rice so all different types of rice. All the toppings are unlimited. The premium talkie toppings are seaweed salad, mango avocado, and masago and squid salad. There are two types of tuna usually it's only spicy and regular, but they have an option with marinated tuna with soy sauce and it's really good. Then the dressings range from Ponzo to coconut ginger, sweet soy Sriracha aïoli and Gongchang. Also toppings are sesame, wonton chips, or crispy onion. It's conveniently located in the shopping center next to UPS store so I dropped in after an Amazon return so convenient.

The interior is incredibly clean with plenty of seating, including both booths and regular tables. The ordering process is seamless, you can either head to the front counter or use the iPad stations for a quick checkout. It seems like it's a local fav spot for both dining in and grabbing a quick to-go order, since it was fairly busy when I was there. I went ahead and ordered the House Special Poke , it had tuna, shrimp, salmon, assorted veggies, ginger, and crispy onions (and of course the rice) . Although the digital ordering system didn't allow for any topping swaps or add ons, there is a comment section at the end of the purchase. To drink, there are tons of fun options like bubble teas and milk teas where you can adjust the sweetness and choose your preferred boba. The real star of the show is the steamed shrimp dumplings. You get eight pieces per order, which is very generous since they are stuffed with shrimp paste and served with a light, sweet dipping sauce. The service is excellent; the staff is happy to provide containers for leftovers, and there is a convenient self-service station for water, silverware, and napkins. Overall, this is such a yummy spot, and I'll definitely be coming back!

The menu had mostly Hawaiian options to choose from. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I had the customizable poke bowl ($15.95). There was a number of different options to choose from with different proteins, toppings, sauces, etc. I had a base of brown rice with avocado, cucumber, sweet corn, edamame, mango, ahi tuna, spicy mayo, ginger, wasabi, jalapeno, green onion, and cilantro. This was nicely done. Everything appeared fresh and it was a good size portion. I would have just liked to seen a little more ahi tuna present, but besides that, very pleasant and filling. I also had the spam musubi ($2.95) and a side of macaroni salad ($3.95). The musubi was okay. It was a little dry. There needed to be more sauce present. The macaroni salad was a heaping portion, and it was tasty. There looked like a lot of mayonnaise present, but it was not too overpowerful as some type of sugar seemed to be incorporated to balance it out. Regardless of what it was, the salad was flavorful. Will I go back? I would.

They say 3 scoops, but the scoops are tiny. Each scoop had 4 pieces of fish. Thats fuxking ridiculous! All the other places I've been to use the big ice cream scoops. The poké bowl is a rip off. Just go somewhere else that will actually give you more than 4 pieces of fish per scoop. Would give 3 stars, but 2 stars because of the poké bowl. People are nice and service was good. Ps. Stop putting raw onions in your Mac salad. No good
