The selection here is pretty hit or miss. They typically keep a full stock, but I'm just not sure how often the clothes get cleared out/sold. I'm also not sure if they request certain sizes because they seem to run low on certain size a lot so it would be nice if they place signs/incentives for those sizes that are more difficult to come by. They offer a bit low for some valuable clothing prices sometimes so at that point, I feel better donating instead too. I haven't had any issues with unfriendly staff and hopefully I don't because I'm not one to return. But overall, they've been very pleasant and helpful in my experience so hoping it remains that way. read more

Fair pricing for a consignment store, it's very well organized both by size and color. I like that they have plenty of dressing rooms so you aren't waiting in a line for too long, even when it's busy! The employee who rang me up, was very sweet and friendly, and made me feel welcome. I'm amazed at the items they pass up. My sister and I both brought in bags with items from brands like Zara, AE, and Hollister. A lot of these items were worn less than a handful of times, so just be mindful if you are selling they are not going to take your items, and if they do, it'll be less than 20 bucks. You're better off selling on depop, curtsy, or poshmark. read more

I have found the selection at this Plato's Closet to be great! It's definitely skewed toward teen girls and women but they also have a good selection of men's fashion as well. I've been able to get jeans, nice shirts, heels, and a jacket from here. Probably a stretch but I would love if they had a better selection of dresses. All well priced! read more

Employees are rude and aggressive. i took 2 tubs full of nice clothes. the wait was an hour and a half. when i got called in they decided to take one thing. a $70 shirt and offered me 3 DOLLARS for it. i told them no and took the shirt back. the lady that took our clothes to inspect them was extremely rude. take your clothes here if you want to get completely cheated for your money and feel like an idiot. clothes in the store weren't even cute despite them telling us how picky they are. the girl that took our clothes with the long brown hair was so so SO rude. avoid this location at ALL COSTS. read more

Do NOT waste your time here! I came in with 3 medium sized bags of clothing and 1 bag w/ 2 pairs of shoes (boots & sandals) They took only 1 item! I had brand new, name brand clothing and they took nothing! Just 1 measly pair of barely worn Lululemon shorts I had.. super disappointed! While I waited for them to go through my items, I scaled the racks. They have super worn items and torn shirts on the hangers but wouldn't take my brand new with tags brand name clothing ? The employees are ridiculously rude and they pay pennies for your clothes. I called ahead of time to find out what I needed to have in order to sell my clothes, and showed up to the store missing 2 things. Since most of the clothes were nice, I had them on hangers, which they want it in a box or a bag. You also need your drivers license as well, they don't just take a phone number and name. Which is fine, but if I call ahead of time, tell me that so im not running back and forth in the parking lot for a bag and now my ID! I also brought a nice laptop bag and a Lululemon fanny pack, and tried to ask the employee if they accept laptop bags and fanny packs as well. She looked me up and down (not sure why) and gave me the snarky answer that they buy anything they sell there (which doesn't answer my VERY straightforward question). I do not shop there so I would not know if that means yes or no to the laptop bag and fanny pack. I told her I don't come there often, so I wasn't sure, and wanted to double check (she never answered the question she just looked at me super weird again). Save yourself the time and effort - 40 minute wait to get offered pennies on the dollar. Employee who helped us was friendly, but the long wait time paired with insulting offers for name brand items (Vans, Coach, etc.) will keep me from returning. Nothing interesting to buy, either. I have been to this location a few times in the past couple weeks trying to sell things and at another location a worker had "rounded up" what they offered me originally for there to be less bills. i didn't realize this was something they did/didn't do so when i was at this location i asked if they could do that and was told how they are supposed to be pricing things (very rudely) and was talked to like i was stupid for even asking. All of the workers i have met are very nice and friendly except this lady who i think may be a manager or something. she has long brown hair and is rude everytime i'm unfortunate enough to have an interaction with her, i still have a few bins but i'd rather give it to goodwill at this point than have to have another interaction with this woman, she has major attitude and makes me nervous everytime i go in. read more

I went in as soon as they opened to donate clothes and was told that there was a two hour wait time. Two and a half hours later I called asking for a time estimate, as I still hadn't gotten a text that my clothes were ready, and they said they would be sorted in 20 minutes. An hour after that I still hadn't gotten a text so I went to the store just to be told that my clothes had been sorted and they weren't accepting anything. I understand not accepting clothes but the fact that I wasn't texted when my clothes were ready and I waited almost four hours is unacceptable. My daughter loves this place. The clothes here are trendy and affordable- two reasons for a teenager to patronize a clothing store. She loves shoes and found a pair of fleeced Converse sneakers here for $20. They have a good variety of gently used clothing in all sizes. My daughter leans towards punk while do not, but we each found some items that we wanted to buy. The prices are good for a boutique. It's located in a strip mall, so there is ample parking. This place is worth a visit if you want to visit a higher end used clothing shop. read more

I came to this Plato's location this afternoon. I had a very unprofessional situation occur. The very young cashier checked me out and then believed she checked out the wrong user. I was bombarded with blabbering from all the employees behind the front register. The associate got confused after checking me out. She asked for help, then fled. It's a shame some women can't get enough $ for their trade-ins and are lowering the star rating for this place. As a SHOPPER, I loooove this place. Yes, I could go to Ross/Marshalls and spend $12 on a brand New sundress of mediocre quality OR go to Plato's and spend the same $12 an adorable Express brand romper with Tags attached (yay!). Also found Bamboo brand shoes with stickers still on for $16.00 and a gently used H+M purse for $10. The Romper was a rare, special find: I don't always get that lucky but I usually find something good. It definitely takes TIME to look through the store but well worth the effort. Over the winter, I bought a beautiful, barely used Wilson's Leather coat for $20. Brand-new, the same coat sells for $650 or goes "On sale" often for around $329 ! PLUS, when I shop this way, I don't worry about trade-in value later like some of the other reviewers. Wow... absolute waste of life. Had an entire probably 50lbs bin of clothes. All name brand in almost brand new condition some with tags on it. Victoria secret, Anne Taylor, American eagle(brand new shorts and jeans), Urban Outfitters, H&M, Express, etc. I sat in my car and watched the girl not even go through the entire bin and just throw them back. I spent probably a good half hour folding all of those clothes. So thank you for the pile of mess and they didn't take anything. The employees are as rude as they come. So when I dropped off I scanned the racks all trash clothes with holes in it a bronzer stains. But my clothes looked worn..... yeah do not even waste your time. Clothes mentor is way better and even fold your clothes nicely and employees are wonderful. Advice: get better staff, learn what style is, accept quality clothing instead of Kmart brands. read more

First off, don't come in expecting to make big bucks. For a bag of stuff I brought in they took like half and gave me $13. Meh, it was just sitting in my closet taking space and the rest shall be getting donated to Interact anyways! It was $13 more bucks than I had ten minutes ago. What they couldn't take they mentioned was a bit too old for them. And by old I don't mean dated, i'm 24 and a lot of my stuff is that weird transition between lesser quality teen clothes from my college days that I can still fit and actual adult clothes for work. What was left was my work stuff, which I should have expected. The store is a disorganized and cluttered, but people seemed to be finding things well enough. The prices are pretty decent, but because of my height and age (augh it's so hard to find clothes for someone in their mid-twenties) I didn't find anything worth buying. Also I wouldn't suggest bringing high quality, designer items here. It looks like they are just tossed in with the normal stuff and I imagine they don't pay much more for impressive brand names. What sets this location apart from, say Cary, is that the people who work here are much nicer. They asked if I needed help while looking around, explained why they took things and didn't take others, and were generally pleasant. I'm surprised they're as relaxed as they are being surrounded by the sheer amount of clutter they see on a daily basis. They were also pretty darn fast, done looking at my bag in about 10 minutes. Much better than waiting at Uptown Cheapskate for 2 hours. I probably won't be back, but not because of not liking it. I have pretty much gotten rid of my teenage clothes at this point, and what I have left will be off to be donated. I think i'm finally a total adult (only took 24 years)! read more

I read reviews for this location before taking some clothes there today. I don't usually read reviews for anything besides food but I noticed while googling how bad they were. I decided to write a review because I had a good experience with no issues. Everyone was wearing a mask and was polite. In contrast to a review I read, they had no requirements for what kind of bag the clothes were in. I used a trash bag. The bag was full and they ended up buying about half of it. I don't think you can get mad if they don't like your clothes, you're getting rid of them for a reason. I left with almost $50 in my pocket and no complaints. read more

This store is an absolute joke. If you browse through the racks, you see nothing but raggedy and worn cheap clothing. I've attempted to sell to this location numerous times only to have most of my NICE clothes passed over for no good reason. Today was no exception - I was offered $2.80 for one item. The cashier (I believe her name was Nicole or Nikki) was very rude and snappy with me when I asked for an explanation as to why my clothes were passed over and expressed my frustration. I always take the same clothes that this location passes on to the Brier Creek location and most of them get Purchased there. I'm not wasting my time at this joke of a store anymore. I gave this a two star only because I have purchased some cute things here in the past but this is about my first time selling. Do not waste your time coming to this location. Before bringing your clothes to sell you wash them and bring them folded neatly. The girl told me the guidelines they go by when going through and picking clothes. She told me within 20-25 minutes to come back and my pile should be looked through. I figured I would browse the store while I wait and after maybe 10 minutes my clothes were already done. She proceeds to hand me my basket with all my clothes thrown into a wrinkled heap telling me that they weren't going to keep any of my items due to them being out of fashion. I had at least 30 items for them to look through. I brought them to another store quite similar across town and they took multiple items from me. Took my clothes here on a Wednesday night and there were about 7 staff members there and maybe 4 other customers in the store. Dropped them off at 7 and they said it would take 30 minutes. I check in on them an hour later at 8 and they said it would take another 20-25 to "log the clothes in" and they took one shirt out of my whole tote. Not worth the gas money to bring clothes there. I brought in some very nice dresses from Theory, Marc Jacobs, thinking I could get 10-20 per dress. No such luck. I got 7.50 for the one dress and pair of shorts they "could take." Checked out the merchandise there and it's mostly cheap crap with occasional better things sprinkled in. TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, and even thrift stores in nice neighborhoods are much better places to get good clothes. read more

They have not updated their answering machines and policies with covid19, answering machine says bring clothes in a shopping bag or box.. I get there with my clothes neatly pressed and folded in a journeys shopping bag and they tell me I don't have to wait and that they will take care of me right away since they aren't busy, they ask for my phone number and ID and then start backtracking and telling me they can't accept the bag bc of the virus and to come back with a tote or hamper tomorrow, I asked if I could return in 5 minutes with a bin (Walmart is a 2 minute drive) and they turned me down again (just over an hour before closing time with NO OTHER SALES waiting to be processed). I'm upset bc if they had time to process my items immediately (15 mins max, less than 30 items) then what does a 5 minute difference make for me to go get a hamper and return? They would have been done with me at 8:20, 40 minutes before closing so I'm just suspecting laziness. they had plenty of empty hampers behind the counter as well, not that I'm entitled to someone else's clothing bin but damn they didn't care to help at all!
