My fiancé went into this store to look around for the 1st time. It was a cold day so I stayed in the car. When he returned he said, "It's REALLY good you didn't come with me into the store!" I asked what happened. He told me an unleashed aggressive dog was standing directly inside the entrance and loudly snarled and growled at him as he tried to enter the store. The female owner of the dog&store told him the dog was a "rescue" and that it didn't take a liking to men. I have documented allergies to dogs and also fear them for their unpredictable nature as what happened when he casually walked into the store. It's a shame because he probably would have bought me something warm to wear if the dog had not been there growling at him. Also, I only buy second hand from smoke&pet free homes/stores. *Message to management: I've never owned a clothing store, but I've worked at one. It's very important for customers to feel safe and welcomed when trying on clothes and window shopping. In what world is it considered civilized to have an unleashed, untrained and aggressive dog positioned at the head of the store? You are actively discriminating against men shopping at your store by bringing this dog to work. Men like to surprise their girlfriend or wife or mother with something nice to wear from time to time. If you don't have liability insurance for potential dog bites when a man enters your store it might be time to get some. Or, better yet, just install a modern security system and leave your aggressive dog at home or bring it to a shelter. You will be doing the city of Raleigh and it's citizens a favor. read more

Based on tbe reviews I saw I had higher expectations of Revolver. The selection of clothes is descent at best and even with the discounts is overpriced in my opinion (having gone to consignment stores all over the country). The thing that really disappointed me the most was the customer service. I know I came in an hour before they closed but I was obviously planning to spend some money. I wasn't greeted and no one offered to bring my clothes to the dressing room as my arms filled up. Once I was in the dressing room itself no one asked how I was doing or if there was anything they could do to help. Honestly the vibes in the store were off putting as hell. Really the icing on the cake is when I go to check out and end up spending $650 which I paid in cash. The girl working there had attempted to stuff everything into a reusable Target bag and the clothes were falling out so I asked for another bag and she brought out a paper Harris Teeter bag and just kind of threw it in the chair in front of me when my hands were full of the overflowing clothes from The other bag and had no way to open it. Then as I'm struggling to open the paper bag she comes out of the dressing room holding some Gucci shoes I had asked her to bring to the dressing room so I could try it on earlier, and in a very rude and condescending tone said "next time don't leave designer items in the dressing room" when she had been the one who brought me the shoes to begin with and never mentioned anything about what to do with designer items I was trying on . Honestly I wouldn't have minded had her tone and the rest of my experience not been so negative. read more

This place came up when I researched consignment and resale shops in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. I was shopping resale and consignment shops to look for a pair of leather pants that could be upcycled into shorts, or an existing pair of leather shorts. The shop is in a small house with their own private lot or street parking. If you park in the former, you can get validation inside the store for free parking. The shop offers men's and women's options, the former in the front with a few racks for the clothes and shoes and accessories against the far right wall. Ladies items are on the left side of the shop with outerwear in the front of the store, clothing on racks in the middle of the store, dresses on the far back wall, and shoes in the back right room. Everything is well organized and easy to find by sizing and category. While I didn't find what I was looking for, they had some nice clothing items available like a Current/Elliott pair of skinny leather pants in a small size and some shoes by Chanel. Pricing was a little high, but not outrageous in my mind. The gal in the shop was polite and greeted me warmly when I entered. I'd consider coming back if I was in the area. read more

I had an appointment across the street that ended early so I decided to stop in Revolver. I noticed a really cute green cross body Rebecca Minkoff priced tagfor $38.00 dollars that was displayed by counter. The sales associate told me that she needed a green bag and that she was holding it for herself to purchase. I was a little taken back for a moment. I was like wow, that isn't good customer service. A great lil thrift shop in Richmond Virginia. I found a great comfortable worn-in pair of leather boots here that I wore to the Geniturtorers show that night and walked five miles in the next day without my dogs barking too much. Yes, I do believe this is as good as it gets, for a number of reasons. Here's the need to know list: 1) They have a selection of men's clothing, so you don't have to fly solo or on a girls only trip for this one (Bonus!). 2) The staff actually treats you like you're spending money there, rather than just waiting for you to make your selections and get out. They will actually start you a room. 3) Styles are current or timeless, for the most part, in a range of price points. 4) The purses, shoes and accessories sections are not something to dismiss. 5) The dressing rooms actually provide privacy, even though they're all fancy and cloth-doored. 6) And finally, I am always able to leave with something I really love, at a really good price. read more

Ah, Revolver. One of the very few places in the world a girl (or guy) of my income bracket can reasonably hope to find designer clothing at affordable prices. Mind you, this affordability is all relative. I wouldn't go so far as to say the clothing here is cheap. But compared to what you'd pay retail for the quality design and craftsmanship of some of these pieces, I think you'll be pleased with the price tags. Aside from all that, the pieces of my wardrobe that get the most compliments and notice have come from Revolver. The selection here is eclectic and in some case one-of-a-kind. In addition to gently used clothing and shoes, Revolver consigns pieces from local designers. I bought a handmade feather headband here that gets all kinds of notice, and today we found an unbelievable Nicole Miller gown that looked like wearable water. (If I had anywhere to wear it, it'd be in my closet right now). Certainly if you're in the market for something special for an event, check here before hitting up Saks. And guys - my boyfriend has a guy crush on this place. One of Revolver's rooms is devoted entirely to menswear, and he always manages to come up with some piece of vintage coolness from back there. Give yourself some time if you're stopping in for the first time - it's not a huge space, but Revolver is a densely packed haven for unique secondhand apparel. read more

I'm not sure I'm the most qualified person to review a thrift store, but Revolver is certainly one of the nicer places we've seen. From what I can tell the selection here is great. Tons of great look items. The atmosphere is clean, not junky. The service has always been friendly. I bought a leather jacket from here that I love. There's been a few other items that I've seen and loved but didn't fit. It's well decorated, kept clean, well organized. There's even a few seats around for shoppers taking a break, or significant others waiting patiently for shoppers who never take breaks. read more

I have a new crush... a primary school type crush not unlike the straight-laced, cute, smart quiet guy secretly admiring the urban but classically beautiful exotic popular girl in the class (and no I'm not talking about myself - I was anything but urban or classically beautiful or popular in primary school lol) - it's a poignant juxtaposition between urban designer chic and classic vintage glamour. Ascend the black stairs surrounded by key lime green walls and land in a quaint boutique filled with all sorts and genres of clothing and accessories. I tried on a vintage Jackie O-esque white gown (it was too big), a strapless Trina Turk dress, and a backless but very Charlotte York polka dot halter dress from Forever 21. I had to think on the later two, but there were lots of unique dresses and shirts (and designers) I liked. Revolver isn't technically cheap, but the average price point was $30 for a dress and about $80 for designers like Trina Turk, Burberry, or Tory Burch. Seeing as which the items are like new (and preselected for style relevance!) we are in Raleigh and not NYC or LA - pick your cheap versus expensive battle. I'm a girl about town but also I'm a girl about my closet - I have a lot of designer clothes that need a new, appreciative home and I have now found the perfect (and appropriate) venue for finding these little orphan designer duds new parents and homes. I will be making an appointment to sell my designer duds because 50-50 ain't bad. read more

I love this store. I hadn't found another place that resells Chanel until I stumbled upon this gem. I walked in the door and was immediately greeted with a smile. There are racks upon racks of clothes for both men and women and they're all really great quality. There's a shoe rack with an unbelievable amount of designer items. There are purses, jewelry, accessories, etc. There's a calm ambience in the store and it makes it easy to shop instead of loud blaring music. Prices are extremely reasonable. They even have a shop dog named Lucy! She was a doll and made the experience even more lovely. I highly recommend Revolver for a solo shopping experience, a girl's getaway, or a place to find a special piece for someone else. Oh man, I pulled the trigger one too many times at Revolver. I blame Mari H for a little enabling of her own. In short: HOW have I never shopped here before?? It's one of the nicest consignment stores I've ever been in -- wonderfully large space (even the fitting rooms are sizeable, and have cute standing lanterns casting flattering light in them!), that's compartmentalized into men's, women's, shoes & accessories in separate rooms. Some designer labels I spotted: Nanette Lepore, Diane von Furstenberg, Theory, Paper Denim & Cloth, Rock & Republic, Catherine Malandrino, and Chloe. Great representation of all walks of clothing -- dresses, blouses, polos, jeans, pants, jackets, sunglasses, bags. Definitely consignment heaven. I scored a ton of awesome stuff, including a Sue Wong dress I'll be sporting to a wedding in Jamaica in a few months! And the staff didn't even chase us out -- despite the fact that I was attempting to cram my foot into a tiny pair of $300 lipstick red Fendi open-toed pumps at exactly 5 minutes past close... read more

First impression: Revolver smells great (thanks to a candle at the register) and is absolutely beautiful. Upon entering, you're surrounded by costume and fine jewelry, vintage gloves, and pretty handbags. I thought the merchandise was well-organized and the store used the little rooms really wisely (shoes, women's clothing, dressing rooms). While I was finding the last of the things I wanted to try on, the young lady working gave me a 10-minutes-til-closing warning. Having worked in a similar setting and never developed a fondness for stragglers, I hightailed to the dressing room and assumed the lazy try-on position: shirt off, pants at my ankles (I was only trying on tops and dresses). I hurried as fast as I could, but was relieved that some other patrons weren't as close to being done with their shopping as I was. The sales associate wasn't so thrilled. She told them repeatedly that they closed at 7:00, and I could also hear her counting the drawer before I was done in the dressing room. While checking out, my friend said that one of the dresses I was buying was cute, and I said, "It's $10! I have to!" Turns out it was $20, and I realized it after I signed the receipt. That was totally my bad for misreading the tag and also being so awful at math for not realizing that the total purchase wasn't $10 cheaper, but I was bummed the sales associate didn't say anything when I exclaimed that a dress was half its price. I also forgot to mention that the hem was falling out/safety pinned in another dress I bought. So! The moral of the story is: Revolver smells good, is pretty, and has really cute stuff. My first time here was fantastic - and my second time was even better. I came back before Hopscotch to score a new outfit. As I was paying, the cashier told me about a 15% off promotion and kindly applied the discount without me mentioning it! So sweet. As others have said, the staff here is kind and helpful but they certainly give you a welcomed sense of freedom and space to peruse at your leisure. To the people complaining about feeling rushed 10 minutes before the store closed...maybe you've never had a retail job before but closing time means CLOSING time. Don't act like an entitled bit*h when you know good and well that the store has a set closing time...Plan accordingly, and make sure to give yourself a good hour here. I found some fantastic boots and my friend bought a DVF dress here that she wore to her bridal shower - 85% off retail!! Good selection of bags and shoes and even some locally made jewelry. They have lots of sales as well so make sure to follow on instagram and facebook! This is a little gem just up the street from downtown Raleigh. Every time I come I find something I can't live without...at half the price. The store is setup like a boutique and you will find yourself forgetting that all the items are consignment as everything is clean and neat. They are always showcasing local designers and events and all the girls that work here are more than happy to help you find that perfect item. I see another review talks about pressure to leave...yes, if you ever worked retail you know that 5 minutes before a place closes is NOT the time to stroll in. Period. She knows every item in the store and if you engage with her she will make great suggestions and give honest feedback. Plus, she also has great personal style. You can tell she really loves treasure hunting. Back to the store, they have a very well curated collection of items in a variety of price points, and each one seems a gem in it's own way. I submitted 6 or so 60's party dresses late last June - a few sold and I have "credit on my account". I tried to collect my sales $$ in November when I withdrew my items, but was told that they did not cut checks for under $20 and the last items that sold were less . It was recommended that i wait until Nov. 15th (they only cut checks from the 15th to 30th of each month) so that one check could be made for the whole amount. I called to say I would stop by on Dec 5th - but they refused to write me a check until the 15th. I'm sorry, but making an already disgruntled customer wait 60 days for some arbitrary "pay day" isn't right.. Consignors, beware. read more

Far and away, Revolver is THE best consignment shop in the Triangle! Why pay retail when you can find amazing clothes, shoes, and accessories by your favorite luxury brands for a fraction of the price? Some of my "favorite finds" from Revolver include: mint green Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps (in size 10, no less!), a black & white mod Alice & Olivia dress, a Haute Hippie dress, and earrings made of bullet casings (by a local designer). All of the items they sell are in excellent condition. Clothing is clean and pressed/steamed, shoes and leather handbags are polished, and jewelry is cleaned to a shine: in short, they only accept and consign high-quality goods, then prepare them carefully for resale. The staff is awesome, too! They will ask you if you need any help, and if you decline? They'll let you shop in peace as long as you want (soooo nice). But on those days when you're going for a certain look and not quite sure how to get it, they're always excited to help. Liz, the owner, and Suzanne have helped me a ton in the past. I tend to just throw things together and call my style "eclectic". The Revolver staff help me figure out how to build a cohesive look around one or two pieces. They don't pressure me to buy additional accessories, either: they usually just ask something along the lines of, "What kind of look are you going for? Will you be walking around a lot? Hair up or down?" then suggest what I could wear from my own closet to dress my new outfit up or down. Whether you're looking for a great vintage piece or something trendy from one of your favorite designers, you can find it at Revolver. Oh! I'm a huge fan of Revolver! Some second hand stores you can go into and be slightly concerned that there might be some funky smell or stain on what you are looking at. You can often shy away because maybe the racks are a total mess. Revolver is the opposite of standard second hand stores. It really is an upscale second hand store. You can not only find name brands but you can also find really fabulous unique pieces that really spice up your wardrobe from designers or brands you may have never been exposed to. They have an eye for a good addition to a wardrobe! Last, the staff is fabulous. I asked a few questions while there, placed items on hold, went in and out of the dressing room multiple times and the entire time they were nothing short of friendly, kind and helpful. Revolver you are both deep and wide with your wonderful offerings and dangerous shooting us shoppers with an urge of desire to pick up your wonderful treasures! I've only been here a couple of times because I have to be very careful since it's got such fab things to pick through. The presentation of jewelry, shoes, hats, purses, clothing, and accessories is quite nice and organized so that things are easy to find. What is this place that has something for everyone?!? A men's selection as well a women's selection. I'm sorry, but no kids stuff though. They offer both current and vintage items, which is really exciting to me because I love to be modern, but I also love vintage things. Their prices are appropriate for the most part as well. I love a deal so I don't feel too guilty when I leave here, but rather proud of my picks. I've picked up an array of brands here that look brand new. Good sized dressing rooms, plenty of space to walk around and easy displays. The staff treats you as if you're one of their most important customers. They're helpful and give you feedback on the things you're looking at. Rather than waiting for you to make your selections they'll start a dressing room and check on you before and during trying things on. I was warmly greeted by Kate who asked me what I was shopping for (dress to a friend's wedding) and then proceeded to select 8 different dresses for me to try on. I have to say I loved 4 of them but liked all of them. Wonderful designer brands at awesome prices!! I settled on a cute Trina Turk number for a steal. I have been mulling 3 of the other dresses I tried on in my head for the last 2 days and am thinking a lunch time stop will be in order this week. So if you are reading this, please do not buy the black and tan BCBG or the super cute maxi dress in the window. Oh I did look around the store while Kate was selecting dresses for me and they have tons of cute tops and the best designer jeans selection I've seen at a consignment store. Revolver has a great selection of mens and womens used and vintage luxury brand items. I was able to find a nice Cynthia Rowley summer dress for just about $20. Some of the many brands include Dior, Milly, Chanel, Karen Millen, Max and Cleo and many many more! I was greeted upon entering and once I had a few items in my hands the associate (perhaps owner?) set them aside in a fitting room for me. Two years ago I found the Puma's I'd been looking for, for a long time, in Revolver. They were only 20 dollars, and I've gotten some good wear out of them. They've been all over the country with me! Such a great find. I've gone back a lot since that fateful day and never been disappointed. The deals are fantastic, and there are some great options for clothes, jewelry, shoes, etc. Found my computer bag here, too! The most perfect, black with white polka-dots soft briefcase type. The staff lets you know that they're there for you without getting all up in your grill, which is awesome, and it's a great place for shopping for guys, too! Seriously...the only thing that bums me out about this place is that I tend to find amazing dresses that aren't even close to my size but well...perhaps Revolver is also a great motivated to get to the gym! read more

Revolver is my go to place for clothing and accessories. There are so few choices for high quality and on trend fashion that is actually affordable. Revolver takes the work out of shopping by selecting amazing pieces and selling them at affordable prices. Note, I said affordable, not cheap. Revolver is not a thrift shop so don't expect to find super cheap items but do expect to find high quality fashion at a quarter of the retail price. Suzanne and Liz do a phenomenal job of checking for imperfections and choosing items that work for a variety of styles. They have mens and womens wear, vintage clothing, local designers work, accessories and much more. It was my first visit to the Revolver but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a unique space, which I always find fun. As soon as you walk into the boutique you see several accessory displays that range in price from $6 (costume jewelry) - $300 (designer handbags). The sales person was extremely friendly but didn't hover so you're able to take your time finding some cool pieces. Although clearly used, the inventory in in good condition. I am plus sized so I wish they had more items in my size because then I would be a frequent visitor. I was able to find some nice accessories, so I'm still pleased! read more

I LOVE it, my wallet does not, lol! There's SO much great stuff here and all very reasonably priced. You'll find high end, slightly used items at a steal of a price. I came in here on Saturday sort of in a panic as I realized just before getting ready for a cocktail party that I did not have a clutch to go with my dress that I was to wear for the evening. Luckily I live within a couple of blocks away and decided to walk down instead of attempting to fight the crowds at the mall. Wow am I glad I did! I was greeted when I walked in by the girl at the register. When I told her what my mission was, she was off to scour the store to help me find the perfect accessory...a clutch! She pulls many great finds, one of which was an adorable velvet cole haan clutch - and at only $58, I thought that may be my pick until she showed me a circa 1950's vintage black satin handbag with a cute little coin purse inside for only $10!! I love this bag and every time I look at it I wonder what sorts of parties has it been to before...so cool. On a whim I also purchased a very nice looking Hobo International wallet...been needing a new wallet and have been eyeing the Hobo, but at retail for $138, I've resisted. This $38 deal was much more palatable. I litearlly only had 15 minutes so not enough time to do serious damage but I cannot wait to get back and take my time looking in each room to look for more great finds! Bonus - I LOVE that they have a men's section. It's been my experience that many consignment shops do not offer this. So excited to bring the hubby and spend more money :). read more

This is great little consignment boutique with a very nice selection of women's clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry, and men's stuff too. Everything seems stylish and cute. I've not seen anything that was outdated or low rent. The staff is friendly and helpful, but not at all overbearing. The prices are very reasonable.
