There is quite a bit of things to look for here. The selection is vast with options at all sizes. They have athletic clothing, dress clothing, casual wear, shoes, belts, etc. They will have one shoe out and the other behind the counter. Be careful if paying cash. Today I took several items to sell at Plato's closet on Park which I do quite often to make me a little extra money I've noticed lately that some things have been odd they've been purchasing kind of large amounts but paying hardly anything for example today they bought four pairs of jeans that were an excellent condition fairly warm and a brand new still in the plastic that it was shifted and I was offered $19 . Which was fine they brought the tote out for me to be the items and I accepted off well I got out to the car and I was looking at my items that I still had in my bag just to realize my Columbia jacket was not in there after finding the plastic ripped off of it and placed in the very bottom of the bag under the clothes yet no Columbia jacket so I proceeded to walk in and I asked the lady at the counter who had sold my items to me if I could get a receipt did you buy the Columbia jacket she said yes I didn't ask if I could get a receipt she literally told me no the day do not give her Sweet child at this location ever under no circumstances so I didn't ask to speak to a manager she informed me she was the manager very young young girl and that there would be no receipt given and never has been and never will be identification I got a receipt there before in the past but in the last month I started realizing and noticing little odd things like for instance I took some items not long ago and it had and unopened brand new Nike hoodie that was very thick very nice for the price tag on that 145 dollars still in the shipping package and at the time to he was ever purchasing I've seen it in there and seen they were only offering me $17 which was a few random items like shirts couple pairs of jeans and the Nike jacket hoodie anyway I asked for her to tell me what she was paying for that and she informed me $6 on $145 price tag item that was brand new I opened I didn't inform her that I would not be selling it I'd like it returned but accepted to offer on the other items she gave me a receipt that day without me asking me but I think they may be trying to pull something at that store I've been noticing a lot of low offers and having some really nice items in there along with the items I purchase and I've been paying attention and if already in my mind something was going on for the night he packed it in incident I would have never noticed the Columbia jacket was sold today for $19 along with four other pairs of jeans my biggest problem is since when does play those closet and not give you a receipt every time I've been I've always been giving a receipt that explains what they bought and what they paid for I sign a receipt have to every time they make a purchase so why couldn't I have a copy of it why couldn't I get a receipt today I think that's very unprofessional I feel cheated I feel like I've been taking advantage of not only was the Columbia jacket not in the tote when I read items if I had anything to plastic in the bottom of the bag and went back in and asked about it I believe that being underhandedly treated today keep an eye on your items people Park avenue store has some very sexy workers and apparently managers that will take advantage of you without you even realizing and I'm still going to look into this supposed protocol that they give no receipts at that location ever and never will there's got to be someone higher up I can speak to on this I left there and I went to Cordova with the same items that I had taken there that were left over and received $99 on five items they had passed on and none of them were as expensive is that jacket was brand new if you're going to sell to play those closet Cordova stores the place to go you're very friendly and very efficient they know their items and they treat you with respect and they always give you a receipt Cordova keep up the good work Park avenue for sure won't last long with the behavior and the managers running it I hope to see you looking to some of your employees and make some changes that need to be made it used to be a great store to shop and tell that now I will not be going back in there and I will tell all my friends and family that sell as well exactly what's going on and hopefully they'll tell their friends and family have a good day read more

I understand consignment and resell stores have to be particular about the items they accept. However, this place is fucking ridiculous. I brought in about 30 items and (after waiting well over the estimated 45 minute wait) I was offered $4 for 6 shirts from Target. Not $4 for each shirt. $4. I had Victoria's Secret tank tops in great condition, a brand new set of Victoria's Secret pajamas, and a brand new pair of Pumas. After I pointed out the Puma's, she said they couldn't accept them because of their condition. ... They're literally brand new. She then said she could give me $6 for them. I just took all of my items back and went home. I can have a yard sale and make more than $20. read more

Terrible experience! I've gone multiple times to drop off/sell items. Today I was hoping to sell a few designer dresses, which still had the tags on, and a handful of dresses that still look like new. The response for not buying back was that the clothes looked worn or were outdated... they seriously need employees who can better evaluate quality pieces. I guess because they were purchased years ago, though they still have the tags on them, they're considered too OLD for Plato's. Stay away from Plato's Closet! I may try Thred Up or another local consignment store. read more

The not so girly looking blonde w the septum piercing is absolutely terrible. The alarm went off when I walked in the store bc of something I had purchased at cvs it also went off when I left the store. I was there a total of 2 mins bc she followed me all over the store and made me feel very uncomfortable she was extremely rude and aggressive. The styles at this location caters to the fashionably hip & trendy Pinterest divas and beaus by delivering all types of stylish brands throughout the store that I'm still really amazed to find. That stuff you see circulating fashion weeks, Glamour magazine, Youtube, or fashionbombdaily.com is right up in here waiting to go home with you. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME SELLING HERE. This Platos closet will tell you that it will take an hour to look through your clothes but it always takes longer so be prepared to wait. Store manager is unprofessional and rude. They gave me a wait time of an hour but it wasn't ready and I live far away so I needed to leave. I asked for my stuff back and she said "give me 20 minutes I'll look through it". 20 minutes later it's completed and SHE TOOK NOTHING. I heard her telling the other workers that I have an attitude as I was walking out the first time so I'm sure she did this on purpose and probably did not even look through my things. How are you going to be a grown woman and act like a child? They need workers so bad because the pay is poor so it's clear they just hire anyone on the spot. Platos closet needs to start offering better pay so they can at least have some good workers. If asking a question means having an attitude, then I guess I did have one. It was a complete waste of an hour and a half. If you are looking for good customer service, just drive to the Collierville one. They have no idea what they're doing here. read more

This place is garbage. It's a total waste of time. They buy anything hardly at all and it's always a lame excuse as to why. All of the clothes they have are very old and way out of style, most of the looks are from the early/mid 2000s. Honestly Plato's Closet as an industry is useless and you can find basically the same things at goodwill. Sure would love a place to actually sell clothes, but sadly all we have is Plato's. Thanks for absolutely nothing Plato's. Customer service is pretty low level as well. Will not ever recommend or use this place for any reason. read more

I got started on spring cleaning a little early this year. I've haven't had much luck with platos in the past but I had so many pieces of clothing to get rid of I decided to give it another shot. I dropped off over 50 pieces of clothing and was told it would take about 30 mins and I would get a text when they were done. They were not very friendly but it was expected. 3 hrs later and no text. I called and it went to their voicemail so I decided to just go up there. A different employee was behind the counter this time. Still not friendly. She basically brought all my clothes back to me and gave me a grand total of $9. I was told they are not accepting women's tops, pants with clasps are too sophisticated, and they don't take the brand apt 9. Lesson learned. Never again. read more

They have a terrible selection of clothing and shoes. Half the time I find stains on the shirts. If you're looking for anything that could be called "elegant", "beautiful", or "timeless", then don't come here. What they have is a lot of fast fashion that borderlines trashy and has gone out of style or will go out of style tomorrow. It's like they're trying to dress pre-teens. And $13 for a flannel? You're joking right? Their stuff is way overpriced (especially considering that it's not in great condition). I've given up trying to find good used clothes in Memphis because I can find it cheaper buying new. And good luck trying to sell here. I don't like that they put 'pc' on the branded tags of there clothes. If i get lucky and find a nice piece of clothing i don't want it marked with a sharpie. I still come in from time to time. But since they started doing that i go in lot less often. Also, i brought some clothes in recently and got $6. They didn't take anything. I think they took 2 shirts. That will be the last time i take my time to fold and pack up clothes for $6. I love this store and the concept, I've been coming here for years. But recently they have not been very forgiving to the customers (sellers and buyer). I will come by to look. But i won't be as dedicated of a customer as i once was. read more

I went in recently to Plato's to sell some clothes and shop around! I walked in and was greeted by many employees and went to the buy counter to sell my bag of clothes. They explained everything I signed the agreement they took my clothes to go through and I went shopping!! I found so many great spring and summer items!!! They have tons of cute dresses and shorts!!! You have got to get in there and shop away! Seriously the clothes are so inexpensive but so nice!! I ended up doing a trade which I had never done before so I didn't have to pay for most of my new clothes because they bought some of the clothes I brought in and they applied that credit to my clothes! Personally had a great experience! I like it a lot more then the Plato's in Cordova. I found some really pretty clothes here. Everything was very well set up. The staff was friendly. I found three outfits for very good prices. I had to look through everything, but that's second hand shopping. Definitely going back. read more
