Go to the Peabody Hotel lobby and see the famous Hal Lansky who knew Elvis plus Jim, Lucinda, Andrew or Rick for a great shopping experience. Get a little local color on your body and walk away looking cool! Julie Lansky and Joanna are right across the hall at the ladies'dtew shop - Lansky 126, with alot of beautiful, unique accessories, clothing and jewelry.

This is such a fun vintage USA store selling quality menswear. The items are unique ranging from edgy to campy including many vintage styles that were worn by celebrities like Johnny Cash or Elvis from the 50s. Literally the same shirts. Plus there's some really great handbags for women. You cannot go wrong in this haberdashery. Lucinda is a gem and will style you anything you like and you can try out different outfits. We had a really good afternoon inside it lands kiss at the Peabody and like to come back every time we're here! During Covid, not only are they wearing masks and socially distancing, but there's so many really cool Elvis masks as well! Check it out!

Exceptional clothing shop at The Peabody Hotel. Celebrated my birthday being THE DUCKMASTER but the real is master is Lansky Clothing store located in the lobby of the hotel. Roaming the lobby Frank stumbled into this store and was pleasantly surprised at the high level of customer service , quality clothing and fantastic choices. Lansky brother was the official Elvis Clothing designer and now Franks, so you can say I'm now THE KING and it shows in my new clothes. I bought myself 3 shirts and a red jacket and only dropped $600, I was shocked how inexpensive things were to be honest. My favorite was the red Elvis jacket. They sell several jackets that were made for Elvis in case you wanted to know. The staff was very helpful in choosing items and searching out items that weren't in stock I desired. She went above and beyond what most salespeople do so she gets a FRANKS thumbs up award. She had them wrapped delivered to my room and included a personal hand written note which goes along way in Franks book. One of the best shopping experiences I've encountered in ages. Simply a joy to spend my money at for the service and awesome cloths. Keep in mind the stars shop here so you'll get to check out autographed photos all over the wall and grab some cool story's if your lucky. FRANK will be back for sure!

While walking in Memphis I looked into the store window and saw a super cool shirt. So I went inside and looked around and saw a lot of great items. I bought a couple things that you won't be able to get anywhere else. I think it's great that there is such a history here of this clothing store making things for Elvis Presley and many other famous people. The walls are adorned with musical instruments and other items from many famous people including Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley himself. Hal and Lucinda Were the employees working and they were beyond helpful and they were so honest and caring. Normally I don't wear clothing that is very nice I have a jeans and T-shirt guy but this item I bought looks good on me and they helped me out with my sizing and I cannot say enough good things about the store. Although it's a little pricier than the stuff you would buy on the street like at Walmart it's much better quality and better designed and I would definitely go back in if I don't go back I will be buying online.

    Great memorabilia in the shop

Lansky brothers is a charming place, famed for being the clothiers of the king of rock and roll himself, Elvis. The clothing is funky and many pieces pay tribute to Elvis (may the hunky crooner rest in peace) : a suit set designed to mimic his wedding tuxedo, dress shirts with his likeness printed on them, and several items with "TCB" (taking care of business) printed on them. My only quip is that the quality of clothing could be a little better for the price.

It's hip. It's trendy. It's uber-cool. But yes, it is also pricey. I love browsing through Lansky 126. But that's usually all I do. I have purchased a pair of True Religion jeans there for my brother. With his money and at his request. $400 is a little steep for me. I honestly do love the store though and visit every couple of months to check out the cute accessories, bags, t-shirts and possible sale items. They carry most of the brand-name designer jeans like Seven, AG, Mavi, True Religion and more. They have cute little coin purses and sunglass cases, and I'm just a sucker for the belts and bags. If you have a little money to spare, do yourself a favor and check out Lansky 126. You'll find loads of cute items that you can't find in department stores.

Since 1952 Lansky Bros. has been adapting its style sense to suit the tastes of celebrities who want edgy yet classy. Bernard Lansky gave Elvis the swag he needed to boost his confidence on the groundbreaking Ed Sullivan Show. With Beale Street as its birthplace, a move to The Peabody gave international exposure. Lansky's has now expanded to 4 shops in The Peabody:: Lansky 126 Lansky the Lucky Duck Lansky the Accessories Shop Lansky Essentials Gift Shop Two years ago, a 5th location opened in the original building @ 126 Beale that also houses the Hard Rock Cafe & Memphis Music Hall of Fame:: Lansky Bros. ~ Clothier to the King Lansky's continues to be a magnet for celebrities who want that elusive look of distinguished trendy vintage.

Lansky Newsstand is a convenience store of sorts. I guess I should clarify this statement. Lansky Newsstand is a very overpriced convenience store of sorts. You can get a lot of unique " Peabody " type souvenirs here- think candy, gum, chocolates etc. shaped like ducks. They also have a wall full of all the newest popular magazines for sale, and some cook books and t-shirts. For hotel guests who find themselves without- they have a small section of travel size toiletries for sale and cigarettes behind the counter. Like I said, it is pricey. Pricey enough that I would advise you to walk across the street to 2nd Street Shoppers convenience store because they are seriously way cheaper and have a larger selection. You can thank me for the advice later.

The front of the marker reads, "Lansky Brothers was founded in 1946 by Bernard and Guy Lansky with a $125 investment from their father, S. L. Lansky. The store began at 126 Beale Street as an army surplus store, but gradually changed to accommodate customers interested in a one-of-a-kind look. At the time, Beale Street was the center of the African-American social and music scene in Memphis. Bernard traveled the country looking for unique product. Sometimes outrageous, always years ahead of anything else in town, many of the items were made of bright, vivid colors and silky fabrics. Lansky Brothers quickly became the fashion headquarters to musicians and the clothes savvy, including B.B. King, Isaac Hayes, David Porter, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Rufus Thomas." And the reverse, "It was Elvis Presley who helped establish Bernard Lansky's "Clothier to the King" title and allowed for global recognition. Bernard recalls looking up one day and seeing a young man looking at his windows. He walked up to greet him and told him, "Come on in and let me show you around." The young man said "I don't have any money, Mr. Lansky, but when I get rich, I'm going to buy you out." Bernard told him "Don't buy me out. Just buy from me!" Lansky outfitted Elvis for his performances on the Ed Sullivan Show, Dorsey Brothers Show and the Louisiana Hayride. Bernard dressed Elvis in the Pink/Black combination, which defined the cool colors of the '50s era. The Lansky family has cultivated a legacy that is three generations now, and is still operating clothing stores in the lobby of the historic Peabody Hotel." Nice Jewish immigrants from Poland. It's a great story. The marker was erected in 2011 by the Lansky Family & Shelby County Historical Commission. It is in excellent condition. [Review 349 of 2024 - 480 in Tennessee - 21382 overall]
