The girls that work here are sweet and helpful, but otherwise, unless you're a teen with very low standards for your clothing, don't shop here. It is full of cheap clothes in poor condition (very worn out, holes, etc). They also pay VERY VERY low clothes you try to sell, their % of pay out must be 20-30% of their retail price. The only good thing I can say about the store is that you can likely find some higher end items for a cheaper price than you would at another consignment store. I got a pair of Hinge wedges (typically $80 at Nordstrom) for $8. If you're will to sort through the trash to get there, you might find a gem. And the shorts in their fitness section are a good selection. read more

Waited 20 minutes in line with a lot of money in product (more volume than what anyone else had in their hands to buy) each time it when it was my turn in line I was told to go to a diffrent line. The young girl wearing all black with the studded black belt made it clear she was done and unhappy to be working slamming things around and being rude to customers. Never have I been told to go to the back of a line once but 2 times in a store. I traveled a very long way to come shopping here and will not recommend this location to anyone I know and will be filing a formal complaint read more

So I started shopping here earlier this year in attempts to "Green" my retail habits. The clothes are okay for the most part but you really have to be careful of holes, snags and missing buttons. Some of their accessories they sell are also heavily worn. However, I was relatively happy with my experience there up until this past week. I went into the store to do exactly what they say. "Sell back your old clothes and get 'new' ones" What did I try to sell exactly? Well, 90% of my bags were items that I had purchased at this very store a couple months ago. The other 10% consisted of ALL name brand items that I acquired over the last two years. I was told, "I'm sorry. We can't accept any of this as we only look for items that are within the last year." I can understand not accepting the banana republic shirts that I purchased two years ago but I have trouble understanding how items that I have purchased at this very store not two months prior are suddenly "too old" to be in the store. Needless to say, I was incredibly disappointed. Not only have I myself have purchased items here that were from prior years, but the items I tried to sell were from the end of last year. (For Gap, Inc. items, you can tell when they are made by the small white tag behind the care tag) I hate to say it but I almost felt like a snap decision was made the moment I walked into the store as their "review" of my items too no longer than 5 minutes. Sorry, Platos. You had a VERY good customer as I easily dropped over $100 every visit I made (which was at least twice a month) I will no longer be shopping at this or any location. I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars, so since I had a nice customer service experience today, I'll bump it up. . . . but I doubt I'll be back. My boyfriend went to a different location to sell some of his belongings and made $20. I figured I might as well try to sell some of the nicer items in my donation bag (lots of Express.) They wound up buying five items (two Express tanks, a belt, denim Old Navy capri pants and something else I can't recall.) For $12, which is better than $0, but after a 45 minute wait, it was a minor let down. Though, I wasn't expecting much . . . maybe a few dollars more. You have to sign over your address and other contact info and can't leave the store while they examine your clothes. Several other people came and left after being quoted a 45 minute wait at 2p on a Tuesday afternoon. I can understand why. Like others have said, they prefer to buy what's in season (so, denim skirts, shorts, and capris for summer), and clothes that aren't more than a few years old. What I don't quite get is why they're so picky when the majority of the items for sale are visibly worn (faded, mostly). Plato's Closet is a great place for teens on a budget, but as an adult woman there just wasn't anything I was interested in purchasing. read more

This store is fantastic! I was in there today looking for some jeans. Not only did a sales associate grab everything I found and have a dressing ready for me, but she went out of her way to get some shirts for me to go with the jeans. It's 4:40pm on a Tuesday. I bring in a bag of clothes and am told that they will not ne able to complete the procrssing until 8:45pm. (4 hour wait) I inform the associate that I go to bed at 8pm, so I'll need to collect it tomorrow, but would still like to drop it off..... She informs me that if I can't pick it up tonight then I can't drop it off....I let her know my commute time is 20 minutes each way and I don't want to have to bring it again and start the process all over again ... I was so frustrated, I just left! I'm terribly upset by the lack of customer service. And expecting a customer to wait 4 hours.....unacceptable. read more

Called them to ask if they had a certain item in stock. They confirmed they had quite a few of this certain style purse. Drove 45 mins to the store to find out they had only 1 in stock and it was more of a backpack than a purse. The girls were super rude and didn't even help me out. i usually don't have issues selling here, but today i got barely anything taken for a lot of nice things (which happens i know) but when i went through my bag to see what they took it was in the exact same state i gave it to them in. they didn't bother going through the entire thing and it's a little frustrating, to come all this way and then not even look. i will not be coming back. read more

I had heard good things about Plato's closet but had never been in one. This is a huge location with a lot of clothes. Sadly I'm not 20 and a size small. Nothing here for me but if I had teenage girls and needed to get them clothes I'd bring them by to check out the place. Men's section seems small compared to women's but it seems quality is better there too. Staff was very friendly and they were busy with lots of take-ins while I was there. Having never been to one I was a bit surprised they took purses and jewelry too. Sunglasses and a few books were also laying around. Store was clean and staff courteous. read more

Okay so Plato's Closet ahhh!!! Here I think is the low down. If you are trying to sell stuff you better have just bought it from the mall last week and only worn it once in order for them to buy it. They are very very picky. But that is how they make their money if you buy a $30.00 skirt they will buy it from you for $6.00 and then resale it for $12.00. It is just the way it is. So if you think that you will go in and make "MONEY" umm not so much. The items that they don't want to buy they then offer it take the others for you to donate to goodwill or other organization. But I gave it 3 stars because buying here is better. I go here to get jeans, skirts, once in a while a dress, shorts and sometimes a top or so. Their prices are fair but better when you go during a sale. Go in here an have an open mind and time to look through all the racks. You can find some good gems here. P.S. The employees (aka high school girls) here are very friendly almost to much. I got asked by the same girl 3/4 x's if I needed any help, hold the items I wanted. Just went shopping here with my wife and 15 yr old daughter after lots of stores at the mall. All I can say is wow! This place is clean, well organized, and has friendly and helpful staff. Compared to a place like Forever 21 this feels like Nordstrom! They sort everything by color and size, hang everything to make it easy to check sizes, and do their best to group things in a logical fashion. Alas, we guys don't try to sell stuff until it is worn out, but I still walked away with two pairs of board shorts and a pair of Nantucket reds. You won't find the latest styles, and they might not have your size in THAT piece, but this is a great place to go to find classics, dress yourself well, and save money. read more

They have a lot of merchandise on the floor. I went there to sell some items probably about 10 in total. They accepted two items and gave me reasons as to why they didn't buy the others. overall I would say that they purchase items that are trendy regardless of condition. they seemed to purchase fewer items that are considered to be business Casual or items that are considered to be classic. The staff was friendly. I will probably go back if I have trendy items to sell. read more

A good selection which rotates fairly quickly for this type of store. As a buyer I've been fortunate to find a couple of nice items. They're usually not too pricey for shorts and tees, but can be a little high on jeans. Sometimes shoes are a bit overpriced for the condition, however, deals can be found. As a seller I can say they're picky and I don't have too many issues with that as I suspect it's why I like the selection. They carry more youth oriented items, less dress clothes and have recently expanded their selection of sportswear. The sales staff is usually unobtrusive, but friendly and happy to get you checked out. I've seen the 1 star reviews, all by women who may have had a very different experience than I. I'd just say that from the male perspective this is a 4 star experience. read more

This plato's location has a pretty good selection of stuff (but I suggest the one in Littleton off of Wadsworth/Cross near SW Plaza instead). This location, near park meadows is pretty good. The staff there is friendly and I have never had a bad buying or selling experience. They carry trendy items for a pretty good price. The employees here are ah-MAY-zing. Sam is my favorite.. so fun, total sweetheart, such a doll. I've never shopped in a store where the employees tend to the dressing rooms like they do here. There is a 6 item limit when trying on, which would ordinarily be super annoying having to redress & undress, but as you try things on you hang it over the door & they swap your items.. for someone like me who reeeaallly dislikes trying on clothes in the store, this is a huge added convenience. Do not consign here! I took 4 large bins with name brand, excellent condition (some still had tags on them) items and they only bought ONE thing! I get home and realized 3 out of the 4 bins hadn't even been touched. I know this because I folded everything a certain way and they are EXACTLY the same, just how packed them. Also, after dropping everything off, they texted me less than 10 minutes later saying my consignment was ready. How do they "thoroughly" go through 4 large bins of clothing in 10 minutes? It's so frustrating because it takes time to put this all together and for them to do this... it's just a complete waste of time. After realizing they only wanted ONE item, I stood back for a second to watch the girl go through other peoples bins. Well, surprise surprise... she looked at the items on top and then closed them! Shocker. When I mentioned to the cashier what I saw, she just shrugged her shoulders. So bummed because I really like shopping there. This experience just really turned me off. read more

Absolutely love this place! It's so convenient and such a fun place for my daughter to shop. The clothes are mostly casual, and exactly what we see in the mall. Even if I just happen to be driving by and decide to stop in, I always leave with at least three things my daughter loves! They are always so nice and friendly. I've been to Plato's Closet twice. The first time was great; everyone working was super friendly, helpful, and they ended up buying everything from the two baskets I brought in! The money they paid for the clothing I sold was decent, I definitely got more than I expected. The second time, which was just the other day, was not at all what I expected. The staff was rude, impatient, and it was VERY obvious they didn't even look through half of my stuff. They purchased whatever was on top of the bin and claimed nothing else was good enough. When I got home, I found that shirts and pants were in the same spot and folded the same way as I had done to take them in. I'm so disappointed with my second visit that I don't think it's even worth going back and trying a third time. I'll stick to taking my clothes to Goodwill. read more

I use to love platos closet. They use to have good prices on used clothes. Now the prices are higher for items that are not worth it. Several of the clothes had stains or were falling apart. I also went to give them my clothes and they said they were too worn but have only been worn a handful of times. I would rather go shop at Ross where clothes are the same price but are new. DONT SHOP OR SELL HERE. This location is a JOKE. The past 3 times I have tried to sell here they have made me wait over an hour and didn't take ANYTHING. This last time too they were so busy they didn't even touch my bag, just declined it all. Everything was still folded and in the same piles as I brought it in, THEY DIDNT EVEN LOOK AT MY BAG. I had Lululemon, Free People, everything they take in great condition. I'll never shop or sell here again. This location is a JOKE. I wanted to buy a lululemon tank but when I picked it up to look at it, it was stained and pilled, and they have the nerve to say my stuff isn't in the condition they're looking for? My stuff is not stained and pilled. Also, I wanted a pair of shorts, looked at them and THEY HAD A HOLE. This location takes garbage but won't take anything nice of mine? GOODBYE. I'll take my business to another location or another company. I'm furious with the customer service at this location. DO NO GO TO THIS PLATO'S!!! Waste of time. While they did have plenty of designer jeans, I was less than impressed with the selection of tops, dresses, and skirts. They appeared to be VERY worn, and very few items were what I would consider to be designer labels. Most of what I saw were off labels, Banana republic, and Gap items. The thing that really turned me off, however, is the fact that for the entire time I browsed, I was followed by an employee who watched my every move as though he expected me to steal something. Each time I moved to a different area of the store, he was there a few steps away, watching me (not very subtly, either). I am 34, dress in business attire, and generally do not fit the stereotype of a shoplifter. I am therefore unaccustomed to being treated like one. Furthermore, I don't know why they think someone wearing a suit and carrying a designer handbag would bother stealing tattered, used clothing from several seasons ago. I understand that they may lose a lot of money to shoplifters and that's really unfortunate. However they need to re-evaluate whether driving away potential customers by making the shopping experience uncomfortable and unpleasant is really worth the loss-prevention that they achieve through those tactics. read more

I have been to plato's closet before to sell clothing and I haven't had a problem until today. Although the employees greeted me at the door they were rude for the rest of the time I was there. I had to wait 35 minutes for them to process 4 pairs of jeans that I wanted to sell. On top of that I wasn't allowed to leave the store according to their stupid policy. Bad experience. What a complete JOKE! I took in 2 Donna Karen New York sweaters that were worn a couple time(still looked brand new with no stains, no wear and tear) Marc Jacobs and Vera wang sunglasses, a barely used coach purse, for them to not really have a good reason as to why they would not buy. The coach bag had a very light blue dye from my jeans rubbing on the back on the bag, nothing that someone would notice, unless you examined it as she did. I took the coach bags down the street and sold it for $30. It's funny that they're so "picky" when half of the crap I looked at was scuffed up, with noticeable wear and tear. At least hire people that look like they have style, instead of some pudgy chick that look like she just rolled out of bed to tell me my sweaters were out of style because they were form fitting. Great place to shop....terrible place to sell your clothes. We took two HUGE bags of clothing in today and we were told to wait 3 hours. I understand since the place was packed but to have to call them and ask them 3 hours later if they were done yet is ridiculous. I have a life and don't have time to have to wait around for them to be done. They should have called to let us know so we weren't wasting our time at park meadows. When we went in they told us they only took $8 worth of stuff. $8. That is absolutely ridiculous. All of the stuff in the bags was well taken care of and just stuff that we didn't really wear anymore. Most of it was brand name. They are just ridiculously picky. So good luck. read more

On 9/27 two Patagonia jackets were posted to their Instagram with the caption "Both of these beauties will be available in store Tuesday (9/29) at 10am! No holds." To get these jackets or even just one of them my sister missed school and got in line at 9:45am just to find out employees had purchased them- with no update whatsoever on their social media. The employees working at the time (Katie) said that employees get first priority, which is understandable! However, I find this hard to believe and a bit ridiculous in this scenario considering the items were posted on Instagram with a specific time of when they would be available, encouraging shoppers to get there early for them. Had they never posted the jackets or even just posted an update that they had been sold to employees my sister would not have missed school to wait for them. So disappointing and on top of that let down the employees in the store were extremely rude and unapologetic. Extra disappointing since our whole family are extremely loyal customers to this Plato's and all the others. If you ever want to get in line for something just know when you go out of your way to get there it'll probably be gone thanks to the lack of communication and concern for customers. read more

My daughter took a bag of clothes in this store to sell. Her bag was taken in the back, sorted through, and returned to her. The saleswoman paid her for one sweatshirt. Upon returning home to place the items in our garage sale, my daughter noticed that there were 3 Abercrombie shirts missing from her bag, and she was not paid for them. We will never do business with these thieves again ! If you choose to, I would make a solid inventory of your items, and make sure that everything is returned to you. Shame on these people ! Stealing is a crime, and I am certain that they would prosecute if someone stole from them. BAD BUSINESS !!!! read more
