So when it comes to buying, this isn't a bad spot to find some great items at a steal of a price as long as you're willing to sift through a lot of teen brands and see SHEIN items priced higher or equal to what SHEIN would charge lol the staff is super nice! I recommend checking this place out when you have a few hours to really dig deep into the inventory. When it comes to selling...it's a hit or miss lol. I advise to bring not too many items, and to fold them nicely and kinda group them by what they are but don't expect to get any super high offers for anything lol. I got offered $3 for a brand new tags attached Free People althletic wear that I spent $80 on. I also have some great luck bringing in older clothing and not super expensive brands because I always get more than I think I will lol. You get more in store credit but $3ish per item you bring that they take is a good average. Also bring the same box in on different days/times at least 2-3 times because I've done that two days in a row with the same box and the second day I had 9 items sell that were passed over the day before lol. I brought 4 bags worth of clothes here and I will say on my part you aren't supposed to bring bags but I didn't know. But i had a mix of summer clothes and winter clothes all plus might I add and come of my boyfriends clothes like some button up shirts and khakis a lot of sweaters from me and him and they didn't take nothing. On top of that there's a system they for shoes and they offered me $9 for a brand new never worn pair of vans. And they couldn't take his worker shoes either. I'm not saying this location is bad I'm saying Plato's closet in general. They need branding or something especially to customers coming in with clothes to resell. As soon as I walked in a young pretty female pops over and says, Have you sold items to us before? I started my welcoming by saying, Hello and How are you? That's how I was taught however there's a lack of home training in this new generation of people. I really don't know Why it seems so hard to just say, Hi or Hello before sounding like a drill sergeant. Guess I have to adapt and roll with the punches. The staff are lazy and they don't take their time to go through your things. I dropped off two bags of clothes and got a text stating it was ready not even seven minutes later as I went in to get my belongings, they stated that they are only taking T-shirts, sweaters, graphic tees, and winter stuff. The staff is always so nice and attentive at this location! Always some good finds to be had. A good supply of name brand purses, Kendra Scott Jewelry and a mix of some new and used items. Fun costume jewelry (mostly new merch), sunglasses, shoes and designer clothes a plenty. One thing that Bugs me about resale is the smell when you walk in. Plato's Closet NEVER has that old clothes/dingy smell. The store is bright, well organized and always a fun shopping trip for new things! Plato's, more specifically, the Preston Rd. I definitely had a very interesting experience trying to sell to this store. I had to go in 3x before they would accept my items. They don't utilize their social media to let people know when they're done buying for the day and I think that would make sense if they did. One of the days I went in, they had posted 30 minutes before that they were buying, lol! Very interesting observation number one. Second observation is that some of the people that work at this location seem to have quite the attitude with first time customers, such as me, who has never sold to a Plato's. Naturally I was confused as to why they couldn't take my stuff and the answer seemed to be understaffing. Definitely understand the circumstances with everything going on in the world, but for a store to close 6 hours from when I entered or more and be unable to do one of its core functions is poor, understaffed or not. I was told to try to come in earlier (went in before 4pm two or the days) and when I shared I work 9-5, I was told to try on the weekends. LOL. Additionally, I brought in quite a large bag of clothes (maybe 50lbs.) and 3 pairs of shoes, two of which were new. I wasn't expecting to be able to sell the whole bag but a lot of items (at least 1/2) were trendy and in good condition (Zara, HM, UO, JCrew) and yet 2 pairs of shoes and one cardigan was selected to buy for $9 total, which I found interesting as well. I walked the store after declining to sell and found quite a few similar items to what I brought in (none of which were chosen and if I had to guess, they didn't even go through the whole bag to be honest). My rating is mainly just for overall service, not necessarily the lack of purchasing my clothes, but from the way I was treated, I can't say I was surprised. My experience is like others have stated. I dropped off 5 large bags of clothes and within an hour I was texted stating my order was ready for pickup. When I got there I was shown what they wanted to buy --6 items which amounted to $27. Among the accepted items, was a set. I had the same exact set in 2 other colors in the other bags yet those weren't accepted. Strange. I was desperate to get rid of the items so accepted the money and donated the remaining items but it really left a sour taste in my mouth. After leaving and reading other comments I am wondering if they actually went through all of the clothes I brought. I should've known better after overhearing the following conversation between 2 of the store associates as I was checking in: Associate 1: "Is a men's jacket the same thing as outerwear?" I used to like coming to this location but it has gone so downhill. Today we dropped off 4 huge bags of clothes. Really nice stuff. Tablet said the wait would be about 2 hours. We leave and drive to a store over by the mall, maybe takes 10 whole minutes. When we arrive at said store they text us our stuff is already done. Weird. Anyways, we finished shopping and head back and they tell us they can't take anything. Not a huge deal until I get home and release they didn't even look through anything. They took the top few items in the bag, unfolded them to make it look like they had gone through. Once you moved those items, you release everything else was exactly how I folded it. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT THEY PAY PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR, NOT TO MENTION THEY MISTREAT AND THREATEN EMPLOYEES YOURE BETTER OFF AT UPTOWN OR POSHMARK!!!! awful experience here! i'm 16 and came in to sell clothes when i noticed a now hiring sign and tried to speak to the manager when i was told she was not available so i began to sell my clothes and then spoke to a key holder instead and got "Liz's" information along with an application. after texting liz and filling out an application, i was told i would start the upcoming thursday as that was the only day she (liz) planned on coming in that week. i said okay and showed up and it went great, i worked my first independent shift and have never felt so belittled or "out of the clique" in my life. it was a three hour shift and for those entire three hours the key holder was on her phone the entire time, texting, eating, and just hanging out with two other staff members while i, and two other employees basically did everything. as it was my first shift i was not allowed to checkout but was told to do so by the key and she just gave me her login and expected me to know what to do (i had never been trained on working the register) and then the key proceeded to get mad at me whenever i would mess up or interrupt her with a question. her name was either kenzi or kennedy i'm not sure what it was but something like that. i texted liz to let her know that i would not be returning after that and she chose to cuss me out and threaten me both over the phone and over text. it then took her six weeks to produce the paycheck for that (totaling to 12 hours @ $6.25 or sub minimum wage after i was told i was going to be making $12.50 an hour) this comes out to $75 BEFORE taxes. not to mention i'm yet to receive my W2 and it is february 24th. one of the girls i worked with found out where i got a different job and called them trying to persuade them to fire me DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT THEY MISTREAT AND THREATEN EMPLOYEES read more

I, not 10 minutes ago, just left this store and I will not be coming back. I went into the store looking for sweaters, jackets and coats to survive the windy cold weather of Aubrey for the months ahead to come, to be accused of identity theft and leaving with only feelings of astonishment. I went into the store and looking around I was constantly followed by all employees but NOT ONCE greeted. Not even spoken to when I first walked in. So after 45 min of looking around I found one sweater reasonably priced. I go to the register to make m purchase and the owner or manager wasn't paying me any mind was too busy staring off at the fitting rooms. So now we're getting to the really good part, he tells me the total is 17.00 and I hand him my card he looks at my card and swipes but after it already is in the machine and the transaction is complete then he says I know under $25 we're not suppose to check but I just like to check in case. I was like well I know my last name throws people off but it's me, he then said no I insist because I just wanna make sure. I've worked in retail if you're going to check you check before you swipe the card. That was the most ugh experience I have had in retail. Then he yells YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY, like he was deterring theft. I wasn't even stealing. Don't shop here it's just not worth it. I have tried selling to this location of Plato's closet many times, each time hoping to have a better experience, but after this most recent attempt I think I've given up completely. I brought in a bag of about 20 items, most of which were designer and in like new condition (Michael kors and Ralph Lauren heels, a designer skirt with the $198 tag still attached, etc.) Long story short, they bought nothing. This completely befuddles me because when I look around the store, all I see are very worn looking forever 21 items, H&M, etc. I feel like the whole point of stores like this is to get nice items for severe discounts, not to get a gross forever 21 shirt for $8 that you can probably buy at the store for $5. So yeah, I give up. If you're looking to sell, it might be worth the drive to the Denton location- they always buy most of my things, I never leave there with less than $50! read more

This is my second bad experience selling clothes to a Plato's Closet. I came in with FOUR bags of clothing to sell and much of it was name-brand and some items even had the tags still on them. They ended up only taking 2 pairs of Nike shorts and giving me $4 for each pair. They resell these for about $8-12, so they're making a pretty good margin on them. When I left, they returned to me ONE bag of clothes, which I thought was sketchy so I asked if they just stuffed the other bags in the big one. They confidently said yes, and I'm a trusting person so I started to leave. My sister wasn't convinced, so she asked again. They feigned surprise, but my other three bags were still behind the counter. The first experience I had involved them also not returning all of my clothes. I clearly remember bringing in a Lilly Pulitzer dress because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling it on eBay even though this particular style was selling for at least $50 online. When Plato's showed the items they wanted to buy from me, this dress was not one of them, so I expected to see it in the bag items returned to me. Lo and behold, it wasn't there and when I asked, they feigned surprise again and it was behind the counter. I went in last week, so it was year-end clearance time. For a location in Frisco, you would think that they're more selective about their inventory. Some of their marked down items were poor quality (pilling and clearly shrunken) and looked to be out of style for a few years. Also I found multiple items of clothing that had stains on them, so they're clearly not very picky about what they accept. read more

Di or whatever her name is, is rude & unprofessional. She was yelling @ a kid employee, then rolled her eyes. You can tell it was the kiddos 1st job. HORRIBLE!! She needs to be FIRED, and definitely shouldn't work with younger kids!! She also does not have good customer service skills. My entire experience was ruined by this person!! This location is very convenient. They allow you to leave the store as your items you are selling and being reviewed. This is a big deal because the old location I would go to in my college town made you stay in the store for hours! I recommend asking ahead what kind of items they are wanting to buy to maximize how much you can earn! read more

Went in with a friends kids...and he grows out of everything within days... so we went to sell a few things and see what they have here... Cute little consignment store in Frisco that has quite a selection of stuff. The kids love to shop here because there are tons of new or barely used items and when your kids grows out of that brand new pair of whatever you can trade it in here and buy something new...the salespeople are plentiful and very nice. I went in tonight to try to sell 3 bags of clothing, they told me they could only look at one bag. I said ok and stuffed the big bag I had, I left and 5 minutes later I got a text saying my stuff was ready. I went back and they offered me $10 for a couple of items. I had a ton of nice jeans and I asked why they didn't take it, the lady said "they aren't selling". When I got home I was looking through my bag that was filled with Old Navy, American Eagle, Adidas, Lululemon and other well known brands and I realized all of my items were still folded the way I left them before I took it all to Plato's. I'm only giving 1 star because it won't let me give them 0. This is the worst run Plato's Closet I've ever experienced, and I've lived in 3 states over the past few years. So I don't say that lightly. I went in a couple weeks ago, at 8:05pm. I checked all the signs on the windows and there was nothing indicating when they stopped buying clothes. I went inside and was told they were done buying for the night and stopped buying clothes nightly at 8pm. I walked away. The next day I came back and tried selling my very nice clothes that were hardly worn for H&M, Forever 21, and Target, with 2 pairs of my nice work booties and I was told they couldn't purchase any of my items because of blah blah, I rolled my eyes and walked away while they kept talking to me. I KNOW those clothes were in style and nearly brand new quality. So that judgement call was bullshit. I went in again tonight, optimistic that I'd have better luck selling some of my nice winter clothes I haven't really touched all season. And I made sure that I got there before the 8pm cut off time. So I arrived at 7:20. I walked in and was told that they had just finished buying for the night. I asked the girl, "When do you stop buying? Because I was told that your store stops at 8pm, and I made sure I was here well beforehand." She responded that because someone didn't show up for their shift, they had to stop buying early to makeup for it. I don't know why missing ONE person would move their buy time over 40 minutes earlier, but okay. But the inconsistency makes it a very poorly run business, run by a store of poorly selected employees. Additionally, my buying issues aside, their stock of clothes is never impressive. I've found great things at Plato's in other states / other areas, but everything is so out of style, old, and underwhelming. I spent an hour in there one night looking for new outfits for the work and the holidays. I didn't find ONE item worth even trying on. All in all, the worst experiences I've ever had with the brand. Plato's Closet Frisco is located in a large shopping plaza with plenty of parking. This location seems newer and better than the Plano location. After a quick skim, they seem to have better options and quality of clothing than the Plano location. However, they denied to take my bag to sell because there was already a long line of other sellers that Monday morning. I have only been a couple of times, but they do seem more selective with buys than the Plano location. read more
