Noah deserves a raise! This was our first time shopping at this store and I spotted what I thought would be the perfect cowboy boots for my son (who was not with me). A nice employee (I'm sorry I did not catch her name!) got the boots down from behind the counter so I could take a picture to text my son. BUT how would we know if they fit!?! Noah to the rescue! The selection was pretty good and the store was clean and visually appealing BUT I was given a 20 minute wait time and I waited an hour and a half. I get it they get busy with other stuff, but that wasn't the issue, the girls who were entering buys couldn't go more than one piece of clothing without getting distracted and wondering away. I sell my clothes here pretty often. While it is an easy way to sell, you definitely get short changed quite a bit. I continue to do it because I just find that it's easier than trying to sell every little thing online. However, I have been offered $0.50 for brand new Kate Spade bracelets before. Make sure you check the bin of things they are buying before you take the money and leave. There have been times where I've taken things back and asked how much because I would have been getting totally ripped off. However, this place is convenient for selling things like old shirts, jeans, etc. that you just don't wear anymore and are just taking up closet space. I have not shopped here in a long time, but they do have a great selection. If I needed more clothes, instead of needing to get rid of more clothes, I would definitely consider shopping here!! read more

I went in to see if they had a pair of shoes that I found in their online shop. Girl said that their online shop is different from their in-person store, and that I would have to buy them online. That's really weird because when I go to buy them online it says I can pick them up for free at the store or pay $8 for shipping. I drove an hour for nothing. The employee was also just standing around talking to her coworker and not wearing a mask. The clothes are overpriced. I can go to Goodwill and get cheaper clothes that are better quality. I'll give it a couple more stars because I called about a problem on their website and the woman was really helpful. read more

I love this store! I was a customer at Platos for the longest time. I enjoy the staff, the selection of clothes, the prices everything! I tried selling clothes once or twice and they didn't take anything because my clothes were not in style anymore but they have a donation box outside that goes to a charity so I wasn't mad! They ignore customers and act like you're wasting their time by shopping in their store or asking for a dressing room. They need at least one adult present to supervise these kids. read more

I love this platos closet. I'm primarily a shopper there but my goodness any time I'm there I always find super cute, high quality items for so cheap. I've gotten all of these dresses for less than $15 (urban outfitters btw) and this jacket was an express leather jacket in great condition ($16 i believe). I've seen other reviews talk about how picky they are but it's because it makes it so much easier for the consumer to shop and navigate. They always makes sure they have the best stuff in stock and honestly the employees here are super super nice too. This is family run platos and I've witnessed how management speaks to their associates and it's always very respectfully. To add, this one employee was telling me about how they even started closing an hour early on Mondays to help the HS students that work there with their schooling. I haven't heard of any establishment changing their hours for the betterment of their workers like that and I think this store is really special! They will always have me as a customer. read more

This is the BEST Plato's in Pittsburgh. It's so well organized and the staff are so sweet!

I never tried selling to a thrift shop or consignment shop before but I had a bunch of items that weren't moving online so I wanted to give it a try DO NOT GO TO THE MCKNIGHT LOCATION THEY ARE HORRIBLE! I had the pleasure of meeting a young man Jacob who is by far the best customer service I received - he walked me through everything!! All your items must be in a container or a reusable bag like the ones you see shopping in Marshall's They have a small pamphlet that states exactly what they are looking to buy from ppl Clothes must be clean/ light use and trending **this is more the "tween -to early 20s" style store but they have another store "Clothes Mentor" in the same shopping center that is more woman's clothes- Platos is casual & trendy and Mentor is more business Womans ... Yes you do not get much for your stuff but it's something they actually have some nice stuff and I am plus size so it's a lil harder for me to find items but in all seriousness you could get nice pieces for a fair price and I am all about saving!! read more

If you hate spending tons of money on clothes and shoes, you need to pull up at Platos! So I was in the Bridgeville area because my girlfriend had some business to handle at the Penn Dot in the shopping center. I'm sure most of you guys know that the DMV is unpredictable. You never know how long you might be hemmed up at the DMV, so I figured why not check out the Platos down there while she waits. I was sure glad I did! Soon as I walked into Platos, I saw a huge rack filled with hometown sports threads. I mean you name it, they had it. I came across a Sid the Kid jersey, a Big Ben on field Reebok jersey among so many other great sports pieces. A piece that really caught my eye was a Nike Antonio Brown Jersey in the black color way. I couldn't believe it! And get this, it was $25!!! I almost fell out on the floor when I saw that price, I'm quite sure that same jersey goes for $100 on the Nike website. That isn't all the heat they had. For all you vintage sports apparel guys and gals, there was something for you all too! Platos had the vintage Pro Line Steelers windbreaker, and a ton of retro Starters gear too! Definitely will be making it a point to get out to this Plato's again very soon. So with there being so much cheap fire flame heat in this store I had to choose what I wanted to grab and what I wanted to leave. So I ended up scooping a denim button down with a Steelers logo on the professor pocket. I know, I know, FIRE right? Also I picked the AB jersey, I just couldn't leave such a clean piece for someone else to find. Lastly, I picked up a pair of distressed denims for 20 bucks. So for those 3 items, 3 very clean items I paid $65. Incredible. Also thinking of reselling my AB jersey for a slight profit. I am a huge thrift-er. My girlfriend and me are always looking for deals on clothes and shoes. We like to buy cheap items and customize them to are liking. That way we have cool stylish threads, and we didn't have to pay an arm and a leg to get the look we want. You can do it! Even if you're not into going to Goodwill and thrift stores, starting at a place like Plato's Closet can be good. That way you know you are getting relatively new items and in-style items for decent prices. So next time you're in the area, stop by Plato's and look around, guarantee you will find something unique and cool for yourself or maybe even someone you know. Poor staff , miserable and rude. Not that much of a selection and they price there items higher then the clothes I've seen in other Plato's closet. Absolutely terrible staff and selection. Staff including owners are incredibly rude and unwelcoming. The selection of clothes were in style in 2008-2013 they seem to be to overstocked on clothes like this because they refused a brand new pair of American Eagle Jeans and Levi's. Some of the pricing was off too what they were charging for their "Hometown Section" was disgraceful to charge so much for unauthentic jerseys. Some of the upper echelon of brands were outdated and old. The entire store had a smell kinda like mildew from a basement and old people. I would rather pay full price then deal with the unwelcoming staff and disorganized chaos they call a store. I can't speak on behalf of the other Plato's Closet location but as for the one in Bridgeville I wouldn't wear clothes from there if I was homeless. read more

i always enjoy going to plato's and giving clothes to them and what not but this time i went to plato's in bridgeville, the employees (besides one) were super rude. i wasn't bothered that they only took a few things from my bin because they're pretty stocked but the girls there were not too friendly. i've worked retail for years and it makes me so mad when other retail workers take their out annoyance or anger out on customers. obviously i get it if the customers are being rude because i've been there! but girls, just try to be a little nicer.. maybe? read more

Never been to a consignment shop before to buy or to sell. They are extremely picky on what they will buy. I browsed the store while they were evaluating my items. A lot of the items in the racks appeared to be more then 4 years old which were very comparable to what I brought in. They said most my items were not in trend and barely bought anything even passing designer branded items. It's better then just donating to goodwill but you still get next to nothing in cash for what they do buy. read more

Bought a pair of VS PINK joggers yesterday. Got them home and they had a huge stain right on the thigh. Funny how they won't take your lightly used clothes that are in good condition but will gladly take high end brands with stains all over them and missing tags/fuzz. Not impressed. Horrible experience with know it all Barbie dolls running this place. They were rude, unhelpful and racist. Instead of explaining purchasing policies that were in fine print, these snot nosed girls were as unprofessional as they come. I was willing to wait over 30 minutes in store for them because of new "covid rules", but they weren't even covering their whole faces with their masks! This is one of the quickest and friendliest Plato's in the area. You can also sell down the street at Clothes Mentor, making things easy! I highly recommend selling here. They have a great selection of product to buy too. One of the better Plato's I've seen as far as organization too. read more

let's just say, I am a hip, up to speed, midwestern mother of two. i get with the kids, but the children that work at Plato's always have the attitude of "I'm better". i can't stand it. sometimes I just want to walk in a store with my lululemon & hoodie and try and sell some clothes, but if I dare come across "uncool" they will never take my clothes.... if my josh or garret started acting like those kids at Plato's they would never be playing hockey again THAT'S for sure. I used to love this location, but recently I have grown more and more disappointed with every visit. I recently sold here and was told that a lot of my clothes were too old and had excessive wear. Now, I worked at a platos closet as a shift manager for almost a year-I know how it works, I'm sensitive to that, which is why I always bring in GOOD stuff that abides by the rules. They passed on a pair of mossimo jeans I bought last month and NEVER wore, a maxi dress from F21 that I bought last fall, 2 summer shift dresses from this past summer, and a leopard print button up still with tags. Seems to me like the buyers are just lazy. Will not go back to sell or buy. Platos closets all around the country are losing my business. read more

Advertising is sooo misleading sometimes...thought i'd bring my designer duds in for quick cash...NOPE...they rejected all my stuff...But they had a whole smelly store of really worn cloths...my stuff was current, clean, worn once...I guess it was too good for this DUMP...Workers there really had NO fashion sense, they were dressed to wash cars...but the worst insult was the Nasty worn out shoes displayed at nose level, above the cloths....Prices at Gabes on NEW STUFF are less then these well worn stinkey cloths! read more

Every time I try to sell my clothes I bring in AT LEAST 3 or more bags of clothes and walk out with the same amount of bags. I'm 20 years old and like to consider myself a decently stylish individual and I don't buy cheap clothes. I take care of my laundry and my clothes are in really great condition, I'm getting rid of them because I need to make room in my closet or the clothes simply don't fit any longer. When I try to sell they pick about 10 items and return everything back to me saying my clothes aren't in "good enough condition" while they are selling clothes that have holes or are so worn they have fuzzy pieces all over them. I'm simply insulted and unimpressed by this and I don't recommend anyone selling to this store. read more

I understand that plato's closet is geared towards teens, but at least have a competent set of workers behind the registers. They watch you like a hawk, like everybody is out to steal. The employees there are always pretty cool there. The clothes are also priced fairly cheap and you get pretty good quality for them. This plato's closet really deserves zero stars for how customers are treated. Long story short, about 8 months ago I had an employee be extremely rude to me. I figured I would go to the owner about it. Well, comes to find out he tells me "Well you can't describe her can you" and gave me a nasty look. He ended up telling me that employees were allowed first pick of whatever was bought from a seller, and that he couldn't do anything about it. So sellers, if you wonder why you don't get much money for your stuff, it's probably because one of the employees wants it and is pricing it low. I was appalled by the way I was treated, and have not been back since nor my family. I recommend selling your stuff on Craigslist or eBay before EVER going here. read more

There are lots of negative comments about Plato's Closet, I have been selling my clothes to them for at least 15 years I'd say. I used to drive to the Bethel Park one when it was the only one around back then. I still take items to Plato's but now I go to the much closer Bridgeville location. Yes, they are picky. I have a good sense of what they will take when I take items to sell. I pretty much have a feel for what they are looking for though. They do like new items for certain brands. They particularly love taking Victoria's Secret Pink items, so I usually can take any VS PINK items and they take regardless of age as long as it is in good, clean condition. Some brands, such as Aeropostale and AE has to be fairly new. Yes, sometimes I see old looking clothes on the racks that look over washed and faded which is often frustrating when my items are in better condition and they don't accept. But, in my opinion, letting Plato's Closet check out your items and pay you immediately, is much easier than dealing with the constant back and forth of Craiglist and Facebook Online Yard Sales. I have never purchased anything as I do not buy used clothing, it skeeves me out, but the prices are great for teens and school shopping! read more
