The winery is great (otherwise we would not have ordered it) the execution to deliver it is the WORST and most disappointing experience I have ever had. What a complete disappointment for a special event that still has not been delivered with NO follow up. Really I thought Borrowing Owl would have cared enough to do better

I've noticed different background music depending on where you are standing and I thought that was a subtle, yet well thought out detail. When you were close to the outside of the main tasting room, the music was slightly more upbeat and fun. The music that was closer towards the restaurant was more spa like and relaxing. The view you get to immerse yourself in during the tasting is breathtaking. Unfortunately, due to the smoke, we weren't able to sit outside, which was a shame and not Phantom Creek's fault. We had the premium tasting with the charcuterie board and it was worth it. The charcuterie board was unique and not like any other boards we've had during our wine tastings. The staff were so knowledgeable and experienced. They were able to answer all our questions we had. Our favorite wine was the Syrah, but you had to join the wine club in order to purchase it. The only thing they needed to work on is the amount of flies inside the tasting room. I know it's fly season, but there should be some way to trap the flies on sticky paper and etc because it took away from the amazing experience as you're trying to swat away flies. We didn't want them to land on the food and one even got into the wine glass and they should have replaced it.

There were umbrellas, but at that time of day, it didn't matter where you sat, the sun was setting and it was hot. I asked if we could sit at one of the many empty tasting tables in the shade instead because I didn't want my 70 year old dad sitting in the hot Sun. She said "No." Seriously??? I said, so that section is off limits for us? She said "Yes". I saw there was seating down by the pool in the shade and asked if we could sit down there. She said it was for members only. They must not have any members because NO ONE was there. She suggested an awkward couch in the shade apart from all other areas of the winery, it was a weird place to sit but that's all she could offer us. Why? Don't waste your money here wine lovers. The overall vibe was rude, unwelcoming, snooty, VERY unprofessional with ZERO hospitality and down right strange. It was like they were trying to lose business. The wine was good but nothing is that good to come back and be treated like that. I left there with such a negative energy, I had to literally shake it off before I got back into my car. All the wines had a balanced structure, with no watery unless or off flavors on the whole board. We picked up a beautiful Cabernet Franc, and like most of the wines it was less than $25. No typical green pepper flavor in this one, just beautiful red fruit and soft satisfying tannins. I'm no expert at projecting the future flavor of wine but, if I had to guess, these bottles are young versions of great things to come. My wife thinks it's the grapes - they're damn good grapes! Afterwards we found out that this place is the retirement project of Harry McWatters, a legend in BC wine. Together with the fact the Sundial Vineyard vines are over 20 years old it all makes sense...get here while it's off everyone's radar and the wine is reasonably priced.

We feel that the wineries are trying to promote their products and should not be charging a fee to promote their products. That being said while we enjoy Desert Hills wines they will not be on our itinerary on future trips. There are plenty of wineries who have wines that are equally as good and do not charge to sell or promote their wines.
