The reality is that this small shop tucked quietly around the corner from Mermaid Quay offers the crispiest of batter and the best cooked chips you will find in this part of town. You may well find yourself queuing up outside the door for service but if that doesn't tell you something, when you get inside the door and see how well kept the food preparation areas are, and then you are greeted by the friendly staff who are clearly rushed off of their feet, you will notice that the prices are very reasonable. This is a locally owned store rather than a large franchise and the quality of the freshly cooked fish really shows the difference. If you're in the bay and want this kind of take away food then you should definitely make the 2 minute journey away from the bay to give them a try.

And it's a reputation that's well deserved. At 4am on a Sunday morning, a chippy could get away with serving chips made of wood shaving and cutting kebab meat off a rotisserie pigeon and most of the punters would be none the wiser. Tony's doesn't do this. Instead, they serve some truly excellent fish and chips (I don't speak this highly of artwork; clearly I have issues). They are very proud of their chicken curry off the bone, and they should be; it's good stuff. It's their sausage and batter in chips that is where it's at, though.
