Dorothy's Cardiff 1953 -establishment is a legendary place to relish some chicken curry and chips And what if you have late night cravings Or been partying all night and want to relish something good Yes Dorothy's at Cardiff bay is the right place you should head to - they are open from 1 pm to morning 4 am And trust me was surprised to see the rush at that odd hour 3 am in the morning we had to stand in que And finally ordered their signature dish chicken curry with chips It's sheer pleasure and finger licking good The chicken curry has mild spices and is super hot then comes the chicken pieces they just fall off the bone and cooked to perfection The chips are crisp and fresh Apt combo it is! They have some delectable fish chips and just chicken curry too Late night cravings sorted Tip off the portions are huge and worth So try one first and head for some fish n chips or hotdogs Each portion cost 5.5 pounds Bonapetite people

Is Caroline Street still referred to as Chippy Lane? Once upon a time this street would be closed in the early hours on Saturday and Sunday for cleaning the mess up after the night before. Thousands a chips strewn about, paper mountains pushed up against the walls... drunk people still twitching in the corner. Since then, thank to the development of the Brewery Quarter and the new St David's Shopping Centre, Caroline Street is no longer a back street, but has been brought into the fold of the city centre. For this reason alone, I think the area has cleaned up its act. Fortunately, though, Dorothy's has remained. Dorothy's has always been by city centre chippy of choice; their food is always delicious (if not entirely healthy), and always hot. Very important when its sole purpose is the soaking up of alcohol. Also, it's never made me sick. Another very important point.

Actually, it's probably the best when all things are considered. (All things being, in my book, the fish and the chips... both are out of this world!) I'm just amazed that this is such a little known secret!!! Why has nobody else thought to mention them here?!?! By the way... these guys have been doing what they are doing since 1969! Yan inherited the business from his father when he retired. Yan's is not an established brand that has passed through several people's hands, like so many of the other fish and chip shops. This is the real deal! Wakey, wakey Cardiff! These guys have won awards! They are one of three fish and chip shops in the country to win the annual Frymax award! This means that their food tastes a good deal better than most other fried food outlets, and is a whole lot healthier! And if that's not worth going a little way out of your way to pick up your fish supper, I don't know what is! As for you students out there... sorry, but there's no discount here! But if you buy one less Babycham over the weekend, you'll be able to afford one of the best nosh ups of your life!

The chip's are always cooked to perfection when I've been there and their fish is always cooked from fresh each day still a five star chippy. Parking is not too bad there are dedicated parking spaces outside on the sie of the road and the other side of the road to park so it' s not too difficult to pop in and collect an order. There is an eat in facilty available with tables and chairs as well. The menu has it's usual items on and are of very good quality. DISCLAIMER: I've only ever ordered from Albany Fish Bar off Deliveroo - I haven't actually physically been in the shop myself so cannot speak on customer service or anything like that CHIPS: The only thing that saves this place from 1 star. Their chips are actually pretty decent. Not the best I have but well-cooked. I probably would be satisfied if I only ever order chips from Albany. FISH: Just awful. They leave the skin on, which normally isn't a huge issue but the skin is not crispy and is just a soggy mess. I have to dissect my fish and remove the skin otherwise you get a mouthful of squidge. So if you like non-crispy fish skin, maybe that's for you. However... *BONE WARNING BONE WARNING BONE WARNING* I've ordered from Albany Fish Bar several times (I know, I never seem to learn my lesson) and EVERY SINGLE TIME the fish has been riddled with bones. I spend more time picking tiny bones out of my teeth than actually enjoying my meal. The only reason why I've ordered from them more than once is because if you're doing delivery, there are very limited options depending on time of day. I always end up thinking "Maybe I just got unlucky" but with the fish being consistently awful I can't do it anymore. If I have a craving for fish and chips, I'd rather eat canned soup than the fish from Albany's at this point. --- Overall, come here for everything else but fish.

You…read moremay have read in my review of Ichiban that their noodles-that-aren't-technically-chow-mein is the second best noodle dish in the city. I expect by now you're eagerly awaiting my recommendation for the best, most expertly made, most delicious and plentiful chow mein in Cardiff. Well here it is. To give you a sense of how good this takeaway is, let me explain my living situation. I lived in Roath with three other friends, down the road from the Heath Kitchen. It was the local takeaway. Then I moved down the Bay, living with my girlfriend and a friend of mine. Lovely place, but she was sad we couldn't get Heath Kitchen food delivered. We found a new house; a place just for me and her to love and make into our own home. The thing she was happiest about? "Wait, we're in Roath again, aren't we? WE CAN GET HEATH KITCHEN!" So yes, it's a place that tends to leave an impression. But, as always, Chinese takeaway is often a case of horses for courses. What are my top three noodles in Cardiff may not be yours. If you debate my choices, I encourage you to tell me so I can try them for myself.

The food isn't the best I've ever had but it is still really good. The service is really fast too (though obviously you'll have to wait a bit longer on Fridays and Saturdays, as with everywhere). The prices are pretty good too - again, not the cheapest that I've come across but it's very reasonable. All in all, I think that this place has the potential to be even better. Sometimes the rice can be a little bit starchy but it's got all the right ideas!
