This place has found the perfect balance of batter to fish and it's no wonder it's filled with locals and not just out of towners. The fish was complemented by generous portions of chips (fries), just be warned, the large size is quite large. The tail-on scampi was delicious as a side order. Service is relatively quick but seating is limited, so grab a stool quickly or be prepared to find a spot somewhere outside in the area to grab a bite of your fish while it's hot. Came back here 2 days in a row because I wanted to taste it again before we headed off to London. Surprised there aren't more reviews, but it seems like Yelp isn't as big in London/UK as I thought. For good reason too, these guys know what they're doing. Another family business in this stretch of independents they've had many years to hone down the perfect recipe knocking out fish that isn't too crunchy or too soft and chips that are just right - chunky and not greasy. It may sound over-the-top going into such detail but when you do treat yourself to fish and chips, it's got to be a good one. With mushy peas, pickled onions and some equally delicious pies to boot - Kellaway Fish Bar is well worth the visit and well deserved of all its awards.

As mentioned, the fresh tasting food is matched by generous portions and exceptionally reasonable prices, which make this Fish Bar one of the best in the area. Of my own personal experiences, I have tended to order a portion of chips with the mandatory salt and vinegar, a large sausage in batter, and a portion of mushy peas. Whilst meals from this establishment are hardly advisable on a regular basis given the high salt and fat content, they definitely provide a lovely treat.
