When I ordered 145$ bouquet for Sunday delivery I was told that I could call on Sunday morning for a better delivery window than 9-3 since they would be coming from my local location (which is about a 10 minute walk from my apartment). When I called I was told that they couldn't find out any information and that what I was told was incorrect. I was also told that my bouquet left for delivery at 9:54 am. I asked if the flowers were being kept in water since it was nearly 90 degrees out but the person couldn't answer that question. I called for an update at 145 pm and still no information. I don't understand how they cannot provide better delivery time estimates once the delivery schedule is established. Additionally, I don't understand why I was told that I could get that information when I ordered. Finally, it is very very upsetting to ask if the 145$ worth of flowers is in some kind of water pending delivery some 5 hours later on a very hot day and have a representative of a florist unable to answer that question. I did not order a vase as I don't need a vase. If I had I spent the extra 20 bucks i guess I could have been assured that my bouquet would be in water. Guess the answer is spend 20 for water ? The space is stunning with plenty of green plants and flowers given that it is a hybrid cafe/flower shop, but also natural light flooding in through the eastern- and southern-exposed windows. They also have outdoor seating under an awning for days with cooperative weather. I have been coming to this location for months now on my outings to Manhattan, usually to get some studying or assignments completed. They have a variety of standard coffee drinks in addition to a rotating menu of seasonal specialty beverages, which I have found are a hit or a miss. Their matchas are well balanced and strong, but their Blooming Matcha Latte sold between spring and summer is absolutely phenomenal and my favorite matcha drink in this city! It was so good that it made me finally fall in love with matcha! I make it a point to try seasonal beverages at least once, but they tend to be pricier and can be a hit or a miss, usually erring on the side of too sweet for me. The baristas have always been friendly, and they keep the line moving quickly even when it is very busy. It is a popular coffee shop, and seating may be difficult to find, but the turnover rate is generally high given how spacious it is. All being said, it is steeper in terms of prices (both flowers and beverages/pastries, but especially flowers), but the relaxing experience of sipping a solid drink in this atmosphere has me in a grip! read more

Easily one of my favorite places in the city to visit for a great study session. The flower shop adds a wonderful decor element to the shop. A vast collection of plants and flowers to look at and smell great definitely add to the general aura of the shop. The inside is stunning, and it very well maintained. Its really cute watching dogs and local city runners come in and roam around the flower collections they have on display. As for a place to study and work, I highly recommend Plantshed. They have a few outlets, a bathroom, and solid WiFi, all the elements of a good place to get some work done. The vibes are great. Additionally, they have great service. The staff was kind and fun to interact with. I asked for a matcha latte, which was quite solid. There was no line, and although the seating can be quite limited, there seemed to be no crowd and plenty of space. Love this coffeeshop and highly recommend taking a visit. read more

I had a little bit of time to kill before a movie at the Angelika and saw this super cute flower shop / coffee shop. The bouquets are stunning and pretty reasonably priced (~$30) given how beautiful they are. Seriously, come here for a bouquet if you want to impress someone. There are some bouquets outside as well as a little flower shop in the back. In the front there is a coffee shop with some seating. The menu is fairly limited and I normally would have gotten an iced matcha latte (which did look delicious) but I was full from brunch so I just had the iced herbal (hibiscus) tea which although unsweetened was naturally sweet and delicious. Came here twice this weekend because I love a scene. Vibes are immaculate but also gives "we charge for oat milk. Yes, even for a splash." Catch my drift? I ordered an espresso for $3.50. They charge $3.75 for an americano which is hilariously unnecessary. Would love to see better vegan options here but it's worth popping in to enjoy the well-lit space and ponder whether you can justify forking over $60 for a bouquet bebe. Also your chances of seeing an influencer in the wild are pretty high if you dine in. The plants are stunning and they know it. It's rare to find in-person flowers that cost more than delivery bouquets but it's NYC so of course. These $60 bouquets are gorgeous but this should really be illegal - on that note, stealing 17 of them is considered grand theft LOLZ Yes I'm being dramatic... they have $50 bouquets as well they're just not as cute. But glad to see the poors aren't an afterthought. Will I be coming back? Yes. If they had a thoughtful vegan pastry like a croissant would I have given 5 stars? Yup! Plants are my newest obsession! So grabbing a cup of tea and looking at more plants to purchase sounded like a perfect afternoon before meeting up for happy hour. PlantShed is gorgeous from the beautiful pastries to the exquisite plants. I got an iced chai tea latte and a hot mint tea. Not my fav chai latte but it did the trick. While taking a second to enjoy my surroundings, I realized I had so many questions being I'm new to the plant game. One of the staff members who was very receptive to my line of questions gave me such great information not only the plants in the store, but my aloe plant I had at home that I had questions about. Hot tip - this is a great place for holiday shopping. They not only sell plants, but also the have a great selection of home goods and health and beauty products. Super cute place. They have so many flowers and plants and potters. I didn't check the prices of them but I assume it's pricey. I got a chai latte which was good but I wish it was a little sweeter. Still pretty good. It's a little loud to have a conversation, but I had no trouble finding a seat for two on a Saturday at 1pm inside or outside but I ended up sitting inside. The only reason they aren't getting 5 stars is that their prices are unnecessarily high. Very cute place tho. read more

I concur with the folks who reported impassive or just downright rude behavior from some of the baristas. I started going fairly regularly after the 787 on 14th St closed. Go-to order was a quad macchiato, some of the staff got to know me. On one occasion the cashier got the order wrong. When I pointed it out--"Oh I ordered a quad but that's ok"--the cashier was mortified. Whenever I visited after that, the Asian barista wouldn't even look me in the eye. No response when I thanked or complimented her. So off-putting. I switched to Gemina and have not looked back. read more

The coffee and matcha is fine. The issue that I have is the incredibly unprofessional staff. When I arrived to this location, they approached me by saying "what do you want" in a very passive tone and made no effort to be friendly. For this attitude and the fact the matcha costs $8 as it is, I chose not to tip. The staff immediately started talking about me, saying how "man, hate it when people DONT TIP" and speaking about how even their regulars don't tip, that people should learn manners. No surprise to me there, they should learn some manners, especially being in a customer service role. They then started talking about how much bacteria is growing in their matcha container and how filthy their equipment is. I'm scared to even drink my $8 latte at this point. Their conversation lasted around 5 minutes going back and forth, indirectly speaking about me. The coffee shop was near empty and their voices echoed through the whole shop. Safe to say I will definitely not be returning. And I warn everyone ... don't buy a coffee/matcha from here. Apparently this place should be considered a health risk! read more

Just ordered a iced matcha latte here (assuming it would be good based on the plant vibe) and it was possibly the best matcha latte I've ever had. Definitely on the pricier side. I ordered it with oat milk, and whatever oat milk use is so flavorful. They also steam and mash the matcha in front of you with a mortar and pestle. We used Plantshed for floral arrangements for a private dinner party and I was so impressed by the quality and design at an affordable price point. Delivery was excellent and our guests raved about the beautiful centerpieces. The next day I walked into the shop and purchased 2 large bouquets for $50 each and used those for another party. A great cafe with a plant store connected inside. Not all of their baristas are friendly though. Some of the baristas are selectively-friendly and they use the cafe as a social platform for theirselves. Some baristas are consistently straight faced, frigid, cold, intensely disinterested in You, and they hide behind the coffee machines to avoid you intentionally and consistently. Then when someone their age or that meets their narrow standards of perfect-friend attributes walks in the door they will become overjoyed, warm and cordial in their company - but not yours! You awful city person! You detestable East Village local! In your face - you worthless customer that I find detestable who is not in my narrow friend-group! You are nothing! You need to be frozen out by my childish transplanted spoiled straight-face. Yeah alarm bells start going off if you are not between the ages of 19-22 and in the same college. You are not one of us! The plant store people are a much better, but they have a couple of the same immature transplant girls who probably don't belong living in a big city. They have a narrow, insecure, insulated college kid mindset. It is obvious enough to mention in a Yelp review because some do it over and over. Also I never tip any baristas at this place anymore, and I recommend nobody else tip them. Some of their baristas here are not worth tipping. If you tip them a few bucks for coffees and pastries the one girl is disdainful with a frozen transplanted straight face, like, I don't need nor care about the tip. Just this overblown cold transplant attitude that is repeated for no reason other than they can. I always tip cafes generously but I suggest never tipping at this Plantshed. I would say most baristas here are good vibes but a few don't belong working there. It is a cafe for transplant young rich pampered college kids in the narrow age range of 19-22 years old and oppressed at college. The baristas can be overboard judgmental, repeatedly, out of nowhere. They have a few other locations in the city but they are smaller. Another thing is the lighting of this place is a bunch of high powered lights beaming directly down on you without any damper. It's just pure light like a testing exam room or something. Just figure out which baristas are disdainful transplants and avoid the place when they are at the cafe counter. And never tip any them. This location is now a STUDY HALL with NOWHERE TO SIT. Absolutely overrun with LAPTOPS; SIXTEEN when I went in on a Sunday @ 1 pm. SIXTEEN. At the tables, the window seats, and the back community table. My friend and I had to wait 15 minutes for the corner of the community table to open up, and someone threw down their LAPTOP to take the space, then went up to order a coffee. When I complained to an employee, they were defensive and said "Some coffee shops are not laptop friendly, and some are. We are a laptop friendly coffee shop". I've been coming to this location since they opened but after this experience, will head elsewhere. read more

If you want the most authentic matcha come here. I'm a matcha aficionado. I absolutely love matcha and hearing that one of my favorite traditional spots closed really broke my heart. FORTUNATELY, PLANTSHED HAS GREAT MATCHA and supplies from IPPODO (from Japan). THE PASTRIES ARE SO DELICIOUS. The cashier was extremely polite. Extremely sweet.
