Having recently discovered that my thumbs actually might have some green under the layer of brown that resides on it's surface from many butchered attempts at gardening it was fate that brought me into Plant It recently at the height of my new found interest in plants. Located on the upper floor of the T&T mall in Markham, Plant It, is a small would-be kiosk, but due to some cool architectural designs, it's a full on 5 foot by 12-foot proper store. So cool! They specialise in succulent plants, which for those not in the know are water storage plants which get thicker once watered. Truth be told I had no idea until I looked it up. They have a huge variety of individual plants, terrariums and more. I opted for an Aloe Vera plant because in addition to being good for sun burns it's also edible! I had no idea. Besides the selection, and education the prices are so reasonable. My little Aloe plant was only $7 and it's already a pretty good size! If I manage to not kill my current batch of succulents and veggies that I've just planted, I'll be back to get some cool cactai and other cool plants for the house! Take THAT Home Depot garden Centre, Plant It has got you beat

Succulents: the cute gardener ego boosters. I've been on a binge for succulents and a friend recommended me this place after showing me some pictures. This little store is located on the top floor of the T and T plaza and it's on the right side near the waffles place. When I walked in, it was heaven. The owner is a young woman who was very helpful and passionate about what she does. There are all different kinds of succulents surrounding the room from various growth stages, sizes, species, pots, and colours. They also sell air plants. There are even cute mini figurines that adorn certain plants and they add so much character to terrariums. Her prices for plants and pots and etc. I find are EXTREMELY REASONABLE. Plants were ranging from $4 and up and I would buy everything in that store. She also sells pots from geometric to terra cotta to concrete to the cutest porcupine and elephant. When I was interested in the porcupine as the pot, she uprooted the succulent she had just planted and offered to clean it for me. Really amazing service and she was very kind. 5/5. Would come back again. Repeatedly. Might have a succulent problem.

I had a one-on-one workshop with Kit to built a custom terrarium and everything was perfect. It actually turned out better than I imagined! She is so helpful and knowledgeable! I was also very impressed with the range of decor available and the sleeping flowers are so unique (I got 3 of them for my terrarium!!!) :) I highly recommend Plant It! Lisa

Love their succulent plant. They provide a large selection of succulent plants and cactus. You can ask the owner to plant your choice of cactus into the cute little pot. My boyfriend ordered this heart sharp succulent plant set for me on the Valentine's Day, I really love the setting of it. Will definitely come back to buy more plants in the summer.

A wonderful little shop with very much a community feel to it. Kit runs a nice and unique spot which is rarely seen these days - her vision is clear and focused in the decor, product assortment and services provided by the boutique. "Boutique" truly is the appropriate word to use here, as the focus here isn't all about just turning product - she takes her time to educate and curate a broad array of interesting and cutesy little products that are not easily found elsewhere. Outside of succulents, there is a finely collected assortment of little planters, pots and decorative items for creating your own miniature diorama. My wife and I went to Plant It to participate in their succulent planting workshop. The experience was wonderful. Kit was hospitable, educational and created a very welcoming and fun environment for the experience. We both enjoyed it very much - Kit helped document the process via taking photos, and guided us both in the selection, care and the assembly process. Highly recommended--we will be back. Note: Plant It does not only have succulents, but also these cool "sleeping flowers" which are living, last 10 years, are low maintenance and come in some fantastic neon colors. A great place for gift ideas, favors and sprucing up your place.

My biggest recommendation is to just explore the store with an open mind and ask Kit if you have any questions.

The whole place is easy to walk around, clean, and has a ton of stuff. theres always something new to see, and its easy to spend way more time there than you expect. i always end up finding a plant i didnt even know i wanted lol. I haven't been to Valleyview Gardens for a long time since they are so far outside the city. The…read morelast time was during the pandemic, and they were pretty skimpy on the stock of plants I would like. However, this time around, they have a lot of great houseplant varieties, especially if you're into aroids and such. If you're willing to travel, you'll likely score better deals than in Toronto. My plant friend was heading there to help me pick up a Philodendron Columbia (or Sp Silver) for only $10! There were only 2 left. Understandably, the nurseries are not that busy this time of the year, and she took all these photos to show me what's in stock and prices and gave me permission to share it out. The owners would appreciate additional traffic, so here I am sharing the love. If you have a car and can keep your plant babies safe, visiting a nursery seems like a great option. These prices are such a bargain! I think it'll be also good if they added a cafe (if they haven't explored it yet) so people can enjoy the greenery sipping on a cup of joe to help with traffic. Thanks to the other Yelp Elite who warned about the potential pest issue. I think pests could happen in any plants you bring home, so as an experienced plant parent, I spray my plants down with insecticidal soap solution with neem oil and quarantine the plant for about a month before I let it join the rest of my collection. It's easier with smaller plants, but I can see it being tricky with the larger plants purchased. But so far, I see no pests, and it's been about 2 weeks. - *Update - saw a couple of gnats that flew out of the pot but I caught it with my sticky trap and spray. Nothing alarming. PS - I checked their IG and it looks like they are doing a Pups for Paws event in collab with Markham Dog Alliance on Feb 24/25. So pick up your tickets if you're interested.

I didn't notice at first, but there was someone tailing me. I walked back and forth to be certain. Soon he was just standing two feet away from me. I ended up buying some plants (which I probably shouldn't have. One had some sort of blight.) I was going to ask for help at the counter. However, they were pretty rude at the cash and it was then I realized the follower worked there. Then two of them followed me all the way to the car. I don't know if they thought my pregnant belly was a plant or something, but I was just wearing a summer dress and sandals. No where to hide anything. Plus I was holding my wallet. No purse at all. Honestly, I was scared of the two workers following me. I called my friend to tell her just in case they decided to jump me. When I got to the car, they stared at me and quickly put my plants in the back, then drive away. I have never seen such behaviour and I'm still wondering if they were planning to jump or attack me. I will not shop there again.
