Hawaiian gluten free pizza + mushrooms and no cinnamon
Rebecca M.

I stopped in for a little football watching and pizza for lunch. The bar area was nice. Very clean with many tvs. They just have basic channels so what ever is on regular tv that is what's on. (No Sunday ticket) The gluten free pizza was good and enough for one. I got the Hawaiian, added mushroom and eliminated the cinnamon. The service was fine

Not a traditional wood fire pizza but it was good. The service was excellent. Great views also.

Just wishing for an Italian sub, so unworthy

The good, the bad and the ugly. Wanted to take the fam out for some comfort food, catching up and go somewhere close and decided on Planks's Bier Garten. Upon entering, only two guests sitting at the bar at 530pm slightly suspicious. Greeted and selected seats with menus and drink orders taken promptly, pretzels ordered so we could yap and decide on main courses. 4 nice sized pretzel sticks delivered hot with cheese and mustard dips, were yummy. Ordered two Italian subs with fries and a small and large pizzas. Delivered in a timely manner, hot but here's the catch. Pizza had great toppings, flavor and were pretty much consistent with our expectations. Italian subs just so far under par in pissed me off, why even keep them on the menu if you are gonna skimp, I mean for $13.75 each? Really? Who ok'ed this? Why didn't our server say, hey you may want to pick another sandwich because this one is the "weight watchers" version, or, hey our topping delivery service forgot the ingredients for Italian Subs. You could literally see through the salami slices. Clean bathroom, friendly waitress Becca.

Pizza is always so good!! I've been a fan for years. Love the family too. Don't forget the mini tacos.

Stopped by Plank's to watch a game, and found seating at the bar. The service was good and the drinks were cheap. We tried the pizza and it was lowkey delicious. Great crunch to the crust. Didn't experience the bier garten this time, but would definitely come back over the summer to try it out!

Cheese Pizza with Jalapeños.

Came here for Trivia last night with my friend and girlfriend. I was told the pizza was worth trying, and it didn't disappoint. Perfect tavern-style pizza. Was around $11. Had a Hefeweizen beer as well. Trivia format was interesting (you wager points based on the question and confidence in your answer). Ambiance is typical of any beer place, I think. We were sitting at the bar and not outside. Would recommend coming here for the pizza.

Small Veggie pizza

Plank's is a fun, small restaurant and bar in German Village. The beer selection is pretty decent with both a good amount of drafts along with cans and bottles for more selection. The food was solid and the bartenders were very friendly. I started with a Boat Show IPA from Yellow Springs brewing and it's always a favorite of mine. I started dinner with a small Caprese salad (pictured). It was a little different from others I've had but very tasty. For my main course I had the small veggie pizza (also pictured) and it was pretty decent. The thin crust was crispy and delicious with lots of fresh toppings. The sauce was a little bland but overall it was pretty good. Overall Plank's is a pretty great place that I'd definitely recommend. And I'd love to go back when it's warm and take advantage of the beautiful patio.

Love planks! Pro tip add extra cheese to take pizza to next level! Admittedly they often get orders wrong, so make sure you double check if it's a to go order. But we tolerate the occasional messed up order because the food and vibe is so good.

Buffalo chicken dip
Erica M.

Enjoyed a nice Sunday afternoon on the covered patio area with good weather. The Buffalo chicken dip was a little spicy but not too hot. The texture of some of the chicken bits, however, were a bit large and questionable. I picked around it. Chips were on the thicker side, plain, and crunchy. Could have used a few more chip for a more even ratio. Service was good. Not much more to say.

I loved this place. The staff was awesome and the locals were quite colorful. Food was great and the horseradish sauce was the bomb.

Is the patio dog friendly?

The front patio is!

Has Planks closed? I have driven by a few times and the windows look boarded up but I did not have time to investigate. I also called the phone number on the Yelp listing and it says the number has been changed.

It was but has reopened.

Antiques on High was one of our favorite brewery stops during this trip…read more When I first suggested stopping at Antiques on High, my significant other kept saying he didn't want to go antique shopping. Once he realized it was actually a brewery, he was all in! The brewery has a great atmosphere, and the bartender was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Since we've been visiting several breweries during our getaway, they even gave us a Seventh Son passport, which was a nice surprise and a fun way to continue exploring the local brewery scene. I ordered the Wild & Sour flight and really enjoyed it. It was a great way to sample a variety of unique flavors, and each pour showcased the creativity and quality that Antiques on High is known for. Between the excellent beer selection, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere, this is definitely a brewery I'd recommend to anyone visiting the area. Looking forward to stopping back again!

I went on a weekday and it was quiet. After dinner it was nice to walk around German Village and enjoy the houses and brick streets.

I ended up here for a Don't Tell Comedy show and had literally never heard of this place a day in…read moremy life. But walking in, I was pleasantly surprised. It's tucked away off Front Street, and you have to head down the steps to enter the bar. Then, for the comedy show, we went down another level into the basement. That underground setting was actually PERFECT for comedy -- intimate, different, and just a really cool atmosphere. But the bar itself is what caught my attention. If you grew up when VHS tapes, VCRs, tube TVs, video rental stores, rewinding tapes, Saturday morning cartoons, and picking out a movie on Friday night were part of life, this place will bring back some memories. VHS tapes are everywhere, with old-school TVs and little pieces of nostalgia that immediately take you back to a completely different time. There was something really cool about looking around and remembering when those things weren't "retro" decorations -- they were our everyday life. From standing in the video store forever trying to decide what movie you were taking home, to somebody forgetting to rewind the tape, recording shows off TV, movie nights with family and friends, and that giant stack of VHS tapes everybody seemed to have somewhere in the house -- this place brought a lot of that back. Very unique concept, and whoever designed the atmosphere understood the assignment. Now, I do want to mention one part of the experience because I believe reviews should be truthful, but also fair. There were several bartenders working upstairs. Most of the experience was fine, but one bartender in particular came across as unnecessarily standoffish and rude throughout the evening. I didn't catch her name, and I'm not interested in publicly attacking anyone personally. The part that bothered me most happened when I was ready to close out my tab. Another bartender had started helping me, but this particular bartender redirected her to customers on the other side of the bar and then left me standing there waiting several more minutes. Four minutes normally isn't the end of the world. But when you've already felt like someone has been dismissive toward you throughout the evening, those four minutes can feel like thirty. I was frustrated enough that I almost said something, but decided it wasn't worth allowing one interaction to ruin an otherwise enjoyable night. I paid my bill, still tipped 20%, and left. I mention this for management more than anything else: you have a really cool business here. Sometimes one employee's attitude can unintentionally become the customer's impression of the entire establishment. A little coaching on hospitality and how customers are spoken to could go a long way. Outside of that interaction, I genuinely enjoyed myself. Loved the concept. Loved the nostalgia. Loved the basement comedy experience. The Don't Tell Comedy show was great, and I would absolutely come back. Definitely a hidden little spot worth checking out -- especially if you're old enough to remember when "Be Kind, Rewind" actually meant something.

Good music, good drinks, and plenty of little details that make the place stand out. Got the Fat Hooker and have no regrets. Smooth, refreshing, and strong enough that I started thinking I looked cooler than I actually do. Which, depending on the context, may or may not have been helped by the sunglasses indoors. Will definitely be back. Good place to grab a drink and hang out with friends.
