I love coming here on those gorgeous sunny days. It's such a delight to sit outside where there's ample space and even a bocce ball court to enjoy. While the beer selection might not be the most extensive, they more than make up for it with a variety of delicious dining options. Plus, the prices are pretty fair, which is always a bonus. However, I've noticed on a few of my visits that the service could use some improvement. It often takes quite a while to place an order, and once the food or drinks are served, it seems like our server just vanishes. I've even had to walk over to the bar myself a couple of times, either to ask for the bill or for something else we needed at our table. I've been here twice. The first time was for happy hour to pregame before a night out a Jack London Square. It is a cool spot to hang out it isn't too crowded during happy hour but we came back to close out our night and it was really busy. The second time we came with the kids and the wait to bowl was way too long so we decided to just let them play in the arcade. Our firm had our summer event at Plank last Saturday afternoon and we all had the best time from kids to adults! Bowling, pool, shuffleboard, ping-pong and arcade games. We had our own space including an outside deck. The food was delicious and the outside bar terrific. It's honestly took me 5 years to finally try Plank ever since I've turned 21. Thanks to Yelp, it's as decent as everyone says it is. Came here for "Happy Hour" on a Monday -- all I can say is, SAVE YOUR MONEY. You're better off just getting drinks and then eating elsewhere or ordering straight from the main menu. The HH food was basic and definitely not $9 worth. The tacos reminded me of the $1 tacos from Taco Bell, the nachos had no meat in them and the sliders were $9 for 2... definitely not a "happy hour" -- also service was horrible. One of the workers who was wearing a beanie just seemed like she didn't want to be there and kept saying our server would be right with us but then kept coming back like she would take our order but then didn't... it seemed like a few other tables were also dealing with service issues too. It was towards the end of the night, but that doesn't excuse anything. The bartender took our drink and food order and kept saying, "anything else?" while tapping her long nails on the counter repeatedly as if we were wasting her time. I also saw her squeezing lime/lemon and plucking mint into other customers drinks without any gloves on. Disgusting considering she just handled our credit cards. We went here in the evening around 6pm. The food was delicious! They have delicious cocktails as well. Reasonable prices. Ambiance was good too - they have an inside and an outside but most people were outside and that's where we sat too. First and last time here. Came here on a Wednesday mid morning for a staff outing. We called multiple times leading up to this event to see if we should schedule a reservation for 16 people. Each time, the person we spoke to said a reservation is not necessary since it's slow around this time on a week day. Well lo and behold, there was another huge group that was there already when we arrived. They happened to take the biggest table and another larger table. Our group had to split up and sit at two bowling alley booths and a high top table to eat. No one greeted us when we came in. There was no flow between what we should do to get started with bowling (bowling shoe sizes, names to enter on scoreboard, etc.). My supervisor had to manage this whole process, which I'm sorry, this isn't her job. When a waitress did come over, she looked irritated and was not helpful when our group was asking questions about the food and drinks. My colleague asked for a mocktail and guess what, the waitress said, it'll be the same price as a regular cocktail. Uh, what??? You're not using alcohol, so how is this the same price? I ordered the plank fries. They came out lukewarm, like they'd been sitting under a heating lamp that didn't work. The booths for the bowling areas were all torn up with black duct tape covering slits up all over the pleather. Our bowling alley lane kept malfunctioning. The machine would add or take away extra pins during the game. Not a good experience, especially for the prices they charge. Will not be back. read more

This place has real potential however, there are many things that need to change. In recent months, they have switched their menu and ordering to scanning a QR code. While good in theory, this means we do not get any service. There was only one waiter for the entire floor and the poor guy kept getting parts of our order wrong. Not necessarily his fault for being overworked. We never received water, my burger was over cooked (burnt actually) and the cleanliness is just not the same. Plank is situated in a great area with very walkable views of the water and games within the section. However, their quality of production has negated all of that. Management needs to do a better job of cleaning tables, hiring more waiters, bringing food out in a timely fashion and ensuring all sides are brought out as well. The customer service here is the absolute worst. Came to Plank for brunch on a Sunday and it was not busy. We were told to grab a seat and for 30 minutes we were not acknowledged or even spoken to. So my husband and I really enjoy this place! We come here to play games and just hang out. We really enjoy the basketball game that's our favorite and we come here from time to time just to have a little competition! I added guacamole but it was pretty blan so I would spare myself the extra cost next time. My husband ordered the chicken tacos and he said they were fairly good. Let's be honest we didn't come here for the food anyways so we were okay with decent. The only terrible thing about plank is the restroom! Oh my goodness they are horrible. This time the toilet was running over and water and toilet paper was everywhere. We split the mac and cheese (huge bowl) and the flatbread pizza, this is definitely the kind of place to order a couple things and share them. Stolen Credit Info. I believe the bartenders at the plank bar are stealing credit info. I've never had an experience like this in 20 years. I opened a tab and had 2 beers. When I closed it out, they just gave me a receipt and pretended that that they had already given my card back. They then pretended to not be able to find it. Then they found it on top of the computer terminal in the open. A different terminal then used to close the tab. I asked where they store customer credit cards for tabs. They said anywhere. No one spot. I found this weird. I talked to the onsite manager. This is Oakland. I got the impression that they are harvesting credit card information. read more

First of all, this place is spacious both inside and outside, lots of fun including bowling and arcade. The outdoor space is huge with big TVs (very nice place to watch sports). I love the view when the weather is nice. But Im giving only 2 stars because their food is meh, and their drink is meh. We ordered the regular margarita and Ricks Punch and they were both not good. The margarita was toooooo salty so I asked them to re make it but they suggested me to order different drink so I got the blackberry mojito and it was also bad. My friends and I were looking for something cool to do on a Saturday afternoon and settled with Plank because it's a "hangout" type spot for food, drinks, and games/bowling. The food was good-basically what you would expect from a place like this. Their shareables selection is nice. I forgot his name but the server was hustling in the VERY HOT SUN on the patio so major props to him. That would be the reason they get 2 stars rather than 1. The disappointment really just comes down to the bowling. Sure this isn't the place to go if you're serious about bowling but for $75/hour (PLUS SHOE RENTALS) you would expect a bit more? Too bad we also got jipped out of the last 15 minutes of the hour because the lane suddenly wouldn't reset. We asked the host for help so he said he would send someone over... we waited and waited while the lanes next to us who started after us finished their games. Finally the lane reset so we tried to continue the game but the light ended up going out and the lane turned off. We talked to the host again and nothing. The lanes next to us were already gone by this time and we had wasted enough time waiting around so we left it at that. We basically lost over $15 worth of game time. I was excited to plan 2 of my besties joint birthday party here on a Sunday afternoon, for bowling and food! The day unfortunately turned out to be a catastrophe and I will never plan anything here again. I came by the day before the event to ask if I could reserve a lane for Sunday (no one answers the phone) The kindly explained they don't take reservations and it's first come first serve only but that there would most likely be lanes available for us to use. I said ok cool and asked if I could bring cake and balloons and they said sure! I felt it was odd to not take reservations since I'm sure a lot of people would love to celebrate special occasions here and every other bowling alley I've ever attended takes them, but it was fine I was willing to just come in the next day as recommended! Fast forward to Sunday. I was expecting 2 birthday girls and 15 guests, we needed 2 lanes. I come in and about 5 lanes were available. Half my party had arrived and I was holding cakes and balloons etc so asked to reserve the lane until the rest of my party arrived (especially the 2 birthday girls) i was rudely told no I couldn't reserve lanes. It's $75/hour to bowl and no I can't pay now and start the game when my party arrives, the game would have to start immediately. So you can't make a reservation, you can't reserve it once you arrive, you can't prepay hold a lane a few minutes until your party arrives. They agree to let me put my stuff down at a lane and I expressed we would need 2 but I would need to wait a few minutes for at least the birthday girls because they really wanted to bowl. So basically bday girl 1 arrives, meanwhile the server comes we're ready to order drinks and snacks but they press us saying we have to immediately pay for the lane and we can't order anything until we pay. So we get rushed over to pay for the first lane even though we haven't settled in and Bday girl #2 is still on her way. I tell them she should be arriving in the next 5-10 minutes and please hang on to the open lane next to us so the rest of us can start our game once she arrives. The lady at the counter rudely says no she can't hold lanes and if someone wants to buy it she is going to sell it. BOOM 5 minutes later she sells the other lane to some random people so now 10 people have to scoot out to the outskirts of the bowling area and some random people basically get sat in our section and we have to shuffle balloons and cake and purses around to accommodate them. Birthday girl #2 walks in 3 minutes later and I have to tell her sorry, they sold our lane so we have to wait til one opens back up to bowl. So we try to be patient, only half of us get to bowl the rest of us are ordering food and drinks and watching the game. I order a veggie burger I was told could be made vegan with no cheese, no aioli, it comes out with butter all over it, thank god I waited to ask before I ate it. I have a dairy allergy and dairy makes me very sick. Also I am pregnant and this whole thing has stressed me out at this point last thing I needed is to be sick on my 2 best friends bday. I ask the server if they can make me another one, she was irritated and said sure. I never saw the 2nd burger come out for over 30 minutes. Eventually the lane next to us FINALLY opens again just about 10 minutes before our first lane is about to expire. I get super exited ask my BFF #2 if she still wants to bowl, she looks at me super exited and says "YEAAAAHHH "! My husband walks home to get his shoes and ball because we were just sure we could start a new game on the newly empty lane. I run up to the counter say hey they just left lane 9 can we pay for an hour and start? "HE LOOKS AT ME AND SAYS SORRY WERE HOLDING IT FOR ANOTHER PARTY." My jaw just about dropped to the floor. They had just given me SUCH A HARD TIME about holding a lane for 5-10 extra minutes literally less than an hour ago, and now they were holding a lane for someone else?! She said it was because the party needed 2 lanes!!!! So did we?! Anyways I'm stressed af at this point and over it. I go to apologize to bday girl #2 that she didn't get to bowl on her own birthday. I quickly call my husband to forget about his ball we won't be getting a lane either way today. Meanwhile I still haven't got my second burger, I wanna get out of there at this point and I'm hungry so I say let's do cakes and leave. I start lighting candles and I see the serve come by I tell her to please cancel the burger. She's irritated and says it's been in for a while, like ma'am YES IT HAS WHERE TF IS IT? Trust the over 2000 reviews and 2 1/2 stars rating. Service was disorganized and basically non-existent. They are severely understaffed. I could see our waitress was attempting to take orders from way too many tables than could be handled and busing tables. It took 20 minutes for her to finally come around to me and take my drink order. Plus, when I had ordered, she asked for my card and came back with my card but no drink. After waiting for at least 15 minutes, I attempted to cancel my order, but couldn't track my server down. When she did come around to bus the nearby table, I followed up with her about the drink. She told me she would be the one to bring it out. In total, it took 50 minutes for my drink to come out. I immediately asked for the check then and there. It took half an hour to get a beer if you ordered directly from the bar. My friend just ended up ordering all his drinks so he didn't have to deal with waiting in line and waiting for his beers to come out. I didn't dare order any food, partially because I was afraid how long it would take and partially because our waitress never came around to take our orders once our group got settled. What Plank has going for it: spacious outdoor area, bowling lanes, bocce ball, and lots of televisions. Plus, a $2 off food and drinks during happy hour (Monday-Friday 3-7PM). The chicken wings I tried were actually not bad, but since our waitress never came around, some of our group members just ordered directly at the bar and just checked periodically to see if their orders were out. What can I say about the Plank, it's a nice place to meet up with your friends, the food is not bad if you like beer food. They do check at the door that you have been vaccinated. There is massive outdoor seating so as the temperatures began to rise I can see more and more people opting for being outside. You can bowl a few games here, but if you a serious bowler you should seek out a standalone bowling alley. As the do squeeze a restaurant dining area, bar and arcade melded together as one. Started out great as we got a high top outside, we ended up going to the bar ourselves and ordering food and drinks. Not once did a server acknowledged us. We asked for a pitcher of water and they told us that that we had to ask the bartender. Ok, that's fine, we are independent people and we can get our own water. Food started coming out and we needed to get our own plates and utensils. At one point, our nachos came out and the server left it sitting before bringing it to our table. Pigeons landed on and in it and started eating it. The servers attempted to give us theses nachos, we did not accept them and they took it back inside the kitchen. One of our friends decided to follow him and watched him placed those pigeon eaten nachos under the heat lamp!! She asked him politely to throw those out and to remake our order. There was a slight verbal exchange but in the end, he did throw it out. We ended up getting the rest of the food without any events and the manager came by and apologized for our experience. Service was pretty much non existent, food was ok and the company better. As we got up to leave, we have not vacated the premises yet, the pigeons descended on our table and started eating our leftovers! We came on a weekday at around 2:30 pm. It was pretty quiet and many of the restaurants were closed. We were hungry and had our dogs with us. Plank was open with plenty of patio seating. This might be primarily a bowling venue, but I must say the food was above average. My daughter and I shared a Margherita Pizza, my husband got the Cuban sandwich, and we all shared a Caesar salad. The fries that came with the sandwich were excellent, so husband ended up sharing them, LOL! They were thin and crispy. He enjoyed the sandwich. I came for food and drinks on the patio, not for the bowling, on a Sunday a little after noon. Plank was clearly short-staffed, but based on previous reviews, it seems like service might routinely be on the slower side. To be clear, our server was very friendly and helpful. I could tell that he was handling orders from tons of tables. However, our beer took 20 minutes to arrive, and food took another half an hour. I ordered a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Broadway Cobb, and side of fries. It definitely shouldn't have taken that long, but I sympathize with the restaurant staff. I wouldn't have minded the wait if I had a beer sooner and just wanted to sit on the patio and relax. However, if you have plans soon after and just want to grab a casual meal, this might not be the best place based on wait times... Another thing I'll note is that the beer pours are pretty large. I believe they come in 16 oz and 22 oz. I didn't specify so I was given the 22 oz which was tough to finish! read more
