I read the reviews and was immediately excited. I headed down to pick up a gift for my brother and got the most exceptional service I've ever had in a skate shop. I was guided into all kinds of selection facets like board- to foot -sizing, durability and styles of various products, and ongoing maintenance. The gentleman behind the counter said he had been skating for something close to 20 or 30 years (I think). I was ready to acquiesce to his recommendations. No pushy sales, just great, thoughtful advice from an experienced skating veteran. While I was waiting for my parts to be constructed into a board, I browsed the store, which had all kinds of cool shirts, shoes and outerwear gear. I picked up a couple of shirts as gifts, including one that read "Wassup Haters." My brother loved the gift, and it has helped him improve his skating Bottom line: Awesome service, expert knowledge, great merchandise selection. Everyone was so helpful and kind. The workers here really have a love and passion for skateboarding that makes all the difference. I am excited to come back every Sunday for womens & trans skate night or Mondays - adult skating. It's only $12 to go and you can use their boards & safety gear like helmets, wrist guards, knee pads, etc. I am so excited to keep coming back and improving. Skating a half pipe was so exhilarating and lit a fire in me. I am soo stoked to return!

It's also been cheaper than buying online a lot of the time, by at least 10 or 20%. Seems like a win-win to have the face-to-face interaction, support a local business and save some money, too.

I understand "policies" but maybe there could be further consideration for the parents that are required to be there. Skate Castle doesn't charge adult spectators. - Skate floor can get a bit overcrowded - Adults of children/adults skating with their younger children skating around extremely fast at times and others getting run into/knocked down - Concessions are a bit on the higher side ($3.50 for a small slushie) My kids ended up having a blast which offset the higher prices of all the things, but I'm not so sure that we'll be going back here too often.

Giant selection of athletic apparel as well. Most everything is name brand, and the best part is it's basically all on sale for around 20 dollars less. I got Timberland Pro boots that are $140 everywhere else for 100 dollars. If you mention you are a AAA member, you get a fairly hefty discount, and the guy didn't even ask for a card or credentials. Plenty of employees ready to assist you. I have been here before, but I think I need to start making this place my go-to. I feel good about giving them business because they are the only competitor in Pittsburgh where it is overrun with Dick's, where everything is overpriced. Upon completion of set up I just wasn't happy with design/quality of stand. Called store and explained my situation. Talked with manager Mindy who told me bring it back to the store for exchange even though I lost the receipt and they had discontinued my particular tree stand!
