I read the reviews and was immediately excited. I headed down to pick up a gift for my brother and got the most exceptional service I've ever had in a skate shop. I was guided into all kinds of selection facets like board- to foot -sizing, durability and styles of various products, and ongoing maintenance. The gentleman behind the counter said he had been skating for something close to 20 or 30 years (I think). I was ready to acquiesce to his recommendations. No pushy sales, just great, thoughtful advice from an experienced skating veteran. While I was waiting for my parts to be constructed into a board, I browsed the store, which had all kinds of cool shirts, shoes and outerwear gear. I picked up a couple of shirts as gifts, including one that read "Wassup Haters." It's provided me many years of happy creative musical expression. I confess - I have been a negligent flautist and not once did I ever take my friend in for professional maintenance. Snack bar has a variety of offerings ( think pizza, hotdogs, soft pretzel, slushies, candy etc ) at very reasonable prices. Skate rentals are great- chose between rollerblades and rollar skates. Skates are modern and the rental for only 3$ extra over the price of admission is a deal. In addition to the throw back aesthetics, what distinguishes this place from everywhere else right now is the level of warm service we encountered. The staff was awesome- so kind, attentive and professional. The owner approached my daughter and unsolicited gave her great skating pointers to make her first experience on rollerblades a huge success. Wish we had this kind of place in my hometown. I understand "policies" but maybe there could be further consideration for the parents that are required to be there. Skate Castle doesn't charge adult spectators. - Skate floor can get a bit overcrowded - Adults of children/adults skating with their younger children skating around extremely fast at times and others getting run into/knocked down - Concessions are a bit on the higher side ($3.50 for a small slushie) My kids ended up having a blast which offset the higher prices of all the things, but I'm not so sure that we'll be going back here too often.

The store is beautiful, rustic, nostalgic and pays homage to the area where the store is situated. I miss the downtown location but the store in the Strip serves us well. I had heard this shop moved here into the Terminal, but I was not familiar with the brand. It's a nice little shop with cool decor. It is designed to look retro. They even have an old classic Triumph motorcycle on display. What caught our eye was a shirt displayed on an outside rack with a crying pirate on it that said . . . "Actually There's A Lot of Crying in Baseball," which is very apropos to our local Major League team here in Pittsburgh. The shirt was $36. We bought one for a Father's Day gift. I was surprised to learn that the return policy on shirts is one year . . . ONE YEAR!! That's kinda crazy, but apparently they are supposedly good quality, and made in the U.S.A. In addition to shirts, they also had other clothing too, such as hats, shorts, socks, n'at, and they even had stickers for sale . . . Cheers! P.S. One negative thing was that they don't give out paper receipts. You can have it e-mailed or sent by text. I opted for an e-mail, but it never actually arrived (meh)!!!
