Let's start off with what I don't like...umm I can't think of one thing that I don't like but I have a million reasons otherwise. The quality....the clothing is built to last. I've had t-shirts that are at least 5 years old and they look practically new after many washes. No fading at all. I have totes, crossbody bags, socks, keychains, candles...and various other clothing items. No complaints whatsoever. The store is beautiful, rustic, nostalgic and pays homage to the area where the store is situated. I miss the downtown location but the store in the Strip serves us well. If you have yet to visit you're definitely in for a treat!

I had heard this shop moved here into the Terminal, but I was not familiar with the brand. It's a nice little shop with cool decor. It is designed to look retro. They even have an old classic Triumph motorcycle on display. What caught our eye was a shirt displayed on an outside rack with a crying pirate on it that said . . . "Actually There's A Lot of Crying in Baseball," which is very apropos to our local Major League team here in Pittsburgh. The shirt was $36. We bought one for a Father's Day gift. I was surprised to learn that the return policy on shirts is one year . . . ONE YEAR!! That's kinda crazy, but apparently they are supposedly good quality, and made in the U.S.A. In addition to shirts, they also had other clothing too, such as hats, shorts, socks, n'at, and they even had stickers for sale . . . Cheers! P.S. One negative thing was that they don't give out paper receipts. You can have it e-mailed or sent by text. I opted for an e-mail, but it never actually arrived (meh)!!!

I was drawn to the many hand woven hats they had. I saw a beautiful turquoise hat that would have fit my locs perfectly. Unfortunately, it was not silk lined (I am trying to be more loving to my hair) but fleece around the inside front. There were also gloves to match. There was silver and other clothes for purchase. I found some beautiful leg warmers for my daughter. And my bag that my purchase was put in was a beautiful reusable cloth bag. I'm glad I decided to go ahead and get one. I wish had more time to look.

They seem to do a good job here and I'd say it's a business worth supporting! It's absolutely worth checking out :)

I was lucky enough to visit during their "$10 fill a bag" sale of winter clothing and got some fantastic deals. There really is something for everyone that wears women's clothing here. Things were sized and organized perfectly, the fitting rooms were nice and tidy, and again Judy was so pleasant and fun to chat with as we tried things on! I will definitely be coming back!

I had barely used items from Anthropology, Ann Taylor with tags still on--you get the idea. I started reaching out every few weeks, calling, texting her with no response. Now I find out they are out of business and I never received notification or an offer to retrieve my clothes. I read in another review that you cant get your clothes back if they don't sell??!! I was never told that. A shame since the shop has been around for a long time--my mother and sister were frequent customers back in the day. Very disappointing not to mention probably illegal. Anyone for a group small claims to get our items back??

This particular Nordstrom Rack is in The Block Northway shopping center. This Nordstrom Rack has two floors. The top level contains merchandise for men, children, and home, and the bottom level contains merchandise for women. I focused on the women's clothing. I saw an assortment of shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, coats, and other apparel that previous retailers could not sell. I recognized brands such as Calvin Klein and Nike, but I had not previously heard of some of the other brands. I thought that the prices were low to moderate. I decided to purchase a pair of UnionBay shorts for $23. The cashier quickly and correctly rang up my purchase.

At the same time, another employee positioned an iPhone near where we were standing, which made us feel uncomfortable and singled out. We are both African American, and the behavior of the employees felt prejudiced and unnecessary. We entered the store fully intending to purchase fragrances, but left feeling disappointed and unwilling to spend our hard-earned money in an environment where we felt judged rather than welcomed.

This adorable store is run by a lovely woman named, you guessed it, Lucy. This store is the perfect place to get gifts for all of your girlfriends...and a few things for yourself as well! The pashminas are my favorite go-to gift. They are $8 a piece, or 3 for $18...and they have every color and pattern you could imagine. **Tip** The best items are upstairs! Let me set the scene...You stumble across the sidewalk display in front of the store while going from one food store to another and all of the sudden your eyes go to the beautiful colors that surround you. Once you step inside the tiny shop you squeeze around the many displays of sparkling jewelry, handing scarves, and body wraps that cover the walls. There may not even be walls in this store...there is far too much fabric hanging to even know. Then, as you've finished looking around and you are about to tell Lucy how lovely her store is, you see the narrow staircase that leads up to a room full of treasures! The stairs are lined with more beautiful fabrics and once you get upstairs, you know there is no way you will leave without SOMETHING from Lucy's. The scarves upstairs are so beautiful. There are stunning pashminas and soft solid and plaid scarves for the men in your life. Even though I look horrible in hats, I was tempted to buy about a dozen houndstooth, plaid, and solid winter hats. I went in for one scarf for a gift...left with three and had to force myself out since I am fairly sure that I was parked illegally. If I had a legal parking spot, it is safe to say that I would have done some serious damage to their jewelry cases. Gorgeous stones sparkled in every one. So go to Lucy's and park legally...and pick up another scarf for me...

Before Pittsburgh area malls got a Hot Topic, East Carson St. was THE destination for all the…read more"Spirit of '77" punks who'd sprung up across Allegheny County in the 90s and early 2000s. With two great thrift stores (buying used clothes = more beer/show/ciggie money) and the mighty boutiques called SWANK Gear and Slacker, the South Side was a Clash City Rocker's dream. Slacker was always the larger of the two stores, and I'd hit it up last in my shopping rotation. I bought my staples at the thrift store, my Young Ones shirt and awesome zipper skirt at SWANK, and hit up slacker for bags, pins, and accessories. The owner and employees were always really cool, loved to chat, stocked tons of flyers advertising shows near the front door, and didn't mind if you browsed. I remember buying tons of pins and belts and makeup and magazines and all that other stuff that a young lady buys when their college is giving her stupid amounts of money for purportedly being a good student, albeit one whose Mohawk put her perpetually in danger of being evicted from the Honors College. Time marched on, and SWANK Gear closed, despite my best efforts to save it - which included: doing their ads, promoting it at punk brawls and bashes and gallery crawls of all kinds, buying up everything Kris, the owner recommended for me to wear. Although it had a much better clothing selection than Slacker - which is not a slam at Slacker, since SWANK Gear, in its day, was also head and shoulders above Zipperhead in Philly and Trash and Vaudeville in NYC - I think its location doomed it. As Kris pointed out, it was on a side street, tucked away from foot traffic, and Port Authority cuts combined with alarming headlines about the city's decline warned younger kids away from the South Side and pointed them toward the malls. Also, in a move that was unbeknownst to me - but which would become obvious five years later - developers were targeting the South Side for Williamsburg-style Californication, and would ultimately strip it of its small businesses, to replace them with artisinal foodie restaurants and national chains. Slacker has stood the test of time, defiantly resisting developer efforts to replace it with a Bank of America and restaurants serving locally-sourced free-range chicken breasts in duck confit with walnut-aoli ravioli, artichokes, and organic baby carrots in demi-glace. Or whatever those menus say. I'm a pizza-and-salad kind of gal. For that, for its great location, and for its awesome staff, I give it five stars, even though my punk days are nothing more but a handful of memories, photographs, and stories that begin with "Back in the day..." The next time you're tempted to hit up Hot Topic, skip it and go to the South Side instead. Check out the thrift stores for your threads and Slacker for your accessories. Oddly enough, while cleaning my apartment, I just found my Velvet Underground "Peel Slowly and See" pin, which I bought at Slacker more than 12 years ago. It is never leaving the lapel of my favorite black military jacket. Love ya, Slacker...and Andy and Lou!
