Cedar Point has set the bar pretty high for amusement park experiences. Not only in terms of thrill…read morerides but in ride operator staff too. While in line I had several opportunities to chat with the staff and discovered many of them were college interns or attending an attraction management program. They take ride safety very seriously and their pre launch announcements sounded like they actually enjoyed their role. My must-ride recommendations are Millennium Force and Steel Vengeance. Get a day locker pass that lets you move from attraction to attraction. Although some rides provide complimentary lockers they are very small. The Farmhouse Kitchen and Grill had the best food at the park. A bonus was my Prestige Pass from a different home park worked for their VIP Lounge. They offer complimentary snacks such as cookies and chips.

It's been 20 years since my last visit. Same place, but different. This visit was late August 2026…read more Maverick is where White Water Landing used to be. Ocean Motion is where Demon Drop used to be. Gatekeeper is where Disaster Transport and Space Spiral used to be. Valravn is where a theater and some flat rides used to be. Mean Streak was rebuilt into Steel Vengeance. The Grand Pavillion and Wild Mouse are where Wicked Twister used to be. Siren's Curse is where a stage and the last WildCat used to be. Steel Vengeance, Top Thrill 2 and Siren's Curse have metal detectors. You're forced to leave the contents of your pockets in a locker. Thankfully I got to keep my belt and glasses (with Cedar Flags branded retention strap). I get why. The Bozos that would toss stuff at the opposing train on Dueling Dragons / Dragon Challenge at Universal Florida really ruined it for everybody. I'm surprised I didn't have to sign a pledge not to try to high five the other train before boarding Gemini. The variety and quality of the food has improved. The daily dining plan they occasionally offer is a value if you're staying open to close. I would't call any of it health food, but there are some not terrible options for those watching their figure or trying to avoid the punishment for putting on weight courtesy of Steel Vengeance. Speaking of Steel Vengeance...I thought Skyrush aka Thighcrush at Hershey Park hurt. It's got nothing on Steel Vengeance. I thought Intamin was full of nutters, but RMC makes them look stone cold sane. Hershey Park supposedly fixed Skyrush, Cedar Point needs to do something about Steel Vengeance. Or put up signs, sell thigh cushions, or retrain the ride ops. Something. It was like getting repeatedly hit in the thighs with a baseball bat. I kid you not. I used to be a bit pudgy, but I lost 100 pounds and got in shape. I have a 32 inch waist. Maybe that's my problem, I lost too much thigh fat. Not that it helped on Skyrush. I don't know if I got a mad stapler ride op or what, but it was one and done for me. Was in the front row even, not the back. I had trouble walking afterwards. I was so sore I couldn't enjoy Millennium Force or Top Thrill 2. I should have gone to First Aid and shook them down for ice packs. Speaking of Top Thrill 2. New trains. They still fuss about folks putting arms up pre-launch, but of course everybody still does it after the launch cycle starts. Anybody with any sense puts their arms down before going over the top, especially in the back. If you are hanging out of your seat when you hit that first twist on the way down, you're going to get a good crack to your spine. The new trains just have lap bars. Have they been messing with the belts on Millennium Force? I thought they were as short as they could get but apparently not. The ride ops pretty much do them for you now to save time. As well as the lap bar. If you've got a 36+ inch waist, good luck. It seems assigned seating is the rule rather than the exception. It can be tough to collect a front or back seat unless it's right after open or right before close. Unless you find a cool ride op and the platform isn't full. Fast Lane / Fast Lane Plus is pretty much required now unless the park is deserted. The more crowded the park is the more expensive it is. They even admit it, the non-fastlane queue for TT2 is labelled 'standby'. All season drink bottles have been a thing for a while now. If you're going to sell them you need to have a spot to leave them. Had to dump them for Blue Streak. Seems to be a legacy Cedar Fair Issue, legacy Six Flags has bottle holders almost everywhere. I'll admit I'm getting old, but this trip just hurt. My thighs, my back and my wallet. Were the massive thrills worth it? Possibly not. Reminds me of the time I stayed at the Hotel Breakers for a whole week when the original Top Thrill opened, trying to catch a ride. I was not successful. This trip feels like a dud, too, but for different reasons. I'll be back, if only because I can hear my younger self telling me I've gotten old and soft. I'll have a better plan and will see about losing more weight. I've got the waist size I graduated high school with, but a few extra pounds, and as much as I wish it were so, not all of it is muscle. Potential visitors, learn from my mistakes. Cedar Point, put more padding on those restraints on Steel Vengeance and maybe some kind of indicator to prevent stapling. Invest in some drink bottle holder stands, too. Go tour the legacy Six Flags parks Cedar Flags didn't sell and see how handy those are.

Of the classic coasters at Cedar Point, Millennium Force has always been a favorite of mine! I love…read morethe speed this coaster has, the high first drop, the tunnels, and the fact that there are no loops nor corkscrews. The thrill lies solely in the speed and heights. This is a belt and lap-bar only coaster. I love that this coaster has views of the lake and the park. The way up starts a normal speed but then quickens halfway. The wait times can be longer for this ride so I would prioritize finding the pockets of the day there might be a lull (first thing in morning, lunch, evening). Pro Tip: This coaster had significantly shorter belts than other coasters. Be sure to check the test chair before waiting in line if you are midsized. My belt JUST snapped.

That 310-foot lift hill dominates the view, and the first drop is a jaw-dropping 300 feet at an 80-degree angle. Once you crest the top, hang on -- you're hitting speeds up to 93 mph with airtime hills, sweeping turns, and postcard views of Lake Erie. The ride is glass-smooth, fast from start to finish, and still one of the greatest coasters ever built. Ride Stats: 6,595 feet of track * 93 mph top speed * 300-foot drop * 2 minutes 20 seconds ride time Best Seat: Front row for the view, back row for the airtime Pro Tip: Lines are shortest right after the park opens or during the last hour of operation. Photo-Worthy? Yes, especially at the first drop and lift hill -- a must for coaster fans with cameras.

It's a pretty bold move putting two roller coasters that face their riders down 90 degrees side by side but Siren's Curse offers a lot different of an experience than its neighbor Valravn. Where Valravn's elements are massive and drawn out with its extra wide trains gracefully pirouetting around in the air, Siren's Curse is a tightly wound little maelstrom that's a lot like, well I already said it, Maverick. Only it's not as intense or awesome as Maverick. I mean, what is, apart from the unbeatable Steel Vengeance and maybe Top Thrill 2? The soundtrack rips and the lighting package is very sharp, though we didn't ride SC at night. The ride is butter smooth and relentlessly paced but kind of short in duration. I don't get people ranking this above Maverick or putting SC in their top 3 at Cedar Point. It's one of Cedar Point's elite coasters but at the tail end of that group. I'd probably rank it 5th at the park, what with Cedar Point's stacked lineup. They didn't allow row choice and we got stuck in the middle of the train, a bit closer to the front which probably influences my ranking. Positioning really affects riders on the tilt track, as the farther back in the train you are the farther you drop and of course front row, despite having the shortest drop you get to see everything. Ultimately though the gimmick of the tilt track suffers because you're really not up all that far. Overall Siren's Curse is a better ride than Valravn but its first drop looks pretty puny compared to its orange and blue neighbor to say nothing of the giant 300 foot indigo hill just a little farther down the midway. Hell, you're only a little farther up than the lightly regarded Rougarou across the way. A greater height would make this coaster far more impressive and intimidating for me. Even seeing footage of Siren's Curse getting stuck in tilt mode doesn't faze me. That just means all the safety sensors are working properly. As long as I don't have to pee in the statistically unlikely event I get stuck up there for a while I'll just chill, take in the views and plot on agitating for some freebies from the park once we get evacuated.

Luckily when we waited it ended up being about 45 minutes. What makes this ride unique is the 90 degree tilt at the beginning. The rest of the ride is a combo of barrel rolls and high speed turns. I think I would've enjoyed the ride more if the queue had more shade. By the time you're at the front you're exhausted from the heat. This is a ride where you cannot bring anything with you. There are small complimentary lockers right before the metal detectors.

It's got this wild, untamed wilderness vibe that perfectly fits its name. The first lift hill leads into a jaw-dropping 95-degree drop that instantly wakes you up, followed by crazy, whip-fast turns that keep your heart racing the entire ride. The sleek design, bold colors, and overall atmosphere make it feel like you're on a roller coaster adventure through the backcountry. One of my favorite moments is the unexpected launch underneath the station that shoots you toward the water section -- it's a rush like no other. Like Millennium Force, Maverick's iconic silhouette is visible from the road as you approach the park, a beacon of thrills calling you in. Ride Stats: 4,450 feet of track * 70 mph top speed * 95-degree drop * 2 minutes 30 seconds ride time Best Seat: Front row for pure speed, back row for maximum airtime Pro Tip: Avoid the midday crowds -- rope drop or the last ride of the night means way less waiting. Photo-Worthy? Absolutely, especially near the first drop and water section. Personal Note: This coaster quickly became my favorite at Cedar Point for its unique mix of wild design and intense thrills. Every ride feels like a new adventure, and that launch under the station still gets me every time.
