Talk about a thrill ride. This is definitely one of the more unique rollercoasters I've been one. The dynamics and structure of it are just different than the average rollercoaster. Most rollercoasters don't shoot you down completely vertical. From my experience, you're usually shot down diagonally, and that in itself make this ride way more intense. We were there on a chilly overcast September day and Valravn was the first ride we waited in line for the moment when we got to Cedar Point. It was relatively short. 90 plus degree drop! It was fun. Such an awesome experience to ride the lift hill of this crazy cool coaster to the top in those huge long rows where it feels like your feet can almost touch the maintenance steps as each click of the track on your rise to the top of the tallest faster and longest Dive Coaster in the world! This coaster is amazingly fun and super unique to the way it rides as each dive as well as inversion all were quite unique to the way you would ride it out almost as if it was too perfect in flight! Valravn is an awesome addition to this park and a must ride for anyone who enjoys the good things when they see them just remember the line for this can get super long so make sure you'll be able to fit it in your day of activities at the park! The rows for the car are super long and there is only three of them but it sets a good amount of riders to each train full so it kinda helps move the line a bit faster :) They don't let you bring anything with you on the ride and will stop it if your that person using their phone on the ride cycle so get a locker or leave it with the other person who's to chicken to ride this amazing Dive Coaster! However they do let you leave your shoes in the cubby box inside the station because you will lose your sandals on the ride so make sure to leave them there so you don't have to walk barefoot all day! Overall this is a really super radical and all around amazing Coaster that I will ride again once I make it back to the shores of Cedar Point! read more

So I've only rode Valravn once - we went on a Friday this time and it was about a 45-minute wait all day, then it dropped to 15 minutes at the end of the day. The one time I rode it was fun, especially the initial drop, but we had to wait about 1.5 hours for it ... I think originally it said 30 minutes, but it kept breaking so the wait time kept creeping up. I believe you're not able to bring anything on this ride, including fanny packs, but don't quote me on that. I just remember my friend and I had a soda bottle (one of the refillable CP ones) and they made us stash it in a locker. Overall this is a fun ride, though, and maybe worth a 30-60 minute wait. read more

¬ ÐIVE ANØTHER DA¥ ¬ Cedar Point's 17th and newest coaster is a mean, lean, diving machine. But it's not all sunshine & happiness, folks.....skip to the end for the reason why. Valravn has only been in operation for 4 weeks, which means lines for it are bound to be the longest in the park. Its rather short 1 minute 58 second runtime has a few highlights, notably: ~Special ride elements~ *45° chain lift hill *214ft drop @ 90° w/ holding brake *Immelman *131ft drop @ 90° *dive loop *zero-G roll Valravn's super-wide cars are 8 across in 3 rows for a total of 24 riders per train. Anyone seated on the far edges will be treated to a world-class thill, as those extend beyond the rails of the track so there's nothing below you (the trains themselves are floorless). Anyone unfortunate enough to be wedged into any of the "bitch seats" (i.e. seats 4 and 5 in the second or third rows) will still experience the coaster, albeit at a fraction of the intensity. The restraints are crazy comfortable and ensure your butt stays planted during your dive time. While the HUGE 165ft immelman inversion is great fun, inversions 2 and 3 aren't entirely as thrilling and the airtime hill prior to the brake run didn't seem to give much in the way of negative G's. The lift hill is pitched at a 45 degree angle, much steeper than the typical 30° lift slope used on most coasters. At the 223ft apex, riders get to enjoy a gorgeous view of the park (looking north) before making a sharp turn and staring --straight-- down. A holding brake keeps the tension palpable as you're left dangling for a moment before you plummet vertically towards terra firma. That first drop is quite a rush, I have to say. ?BinsNoBins? = NoBins. Only spots for flip flops, and crews are adamant about 'no loose belongings'. They even told me--for the one and only time during my whole visit--that my sunglasses needed to be removed. When I responded with "they'll stay on my head, trust me", they fired back with a curt "yeah no, take them off and hold them in your hand. Like right now." Needless to say, as soon as the train began its ascent up the lift hill, I put those shades right back on my face to filter out the scorching sun. And yes, they stayed secure the --entire-- ride, thankyouverymuch. So while Valravn would be some park's flagship ride, at CP the competition is stiff. It's not bad in the slightest, however there are far better coasters at the park. Still definitely a 5* ride, no question. But it's NOT worth a 2+ hour wait, and there's at least five coasters superior to Valravn at Cedar Point. I want to stress that the ride doesn't suck, but it IS a little overhyped in my opinion. Now here's where things get ultra-sh*tty. Thanks to the 8-across seating configuration (instead of the usual 2 or 4 per row), a station attendant will direct you where to sit in an effort to fill in all available rows and cut down on empty seats. I know, they're "just doing their job", but that's a major douche move for people who've been standing in line for a very long time. I got screwed and wound up not only stuck in the middle row, but also the middle SEAT which is the worst possible combination. #sucks Now to be fair, there is ample signage posted at various points in the queue saying that 'due to demand you may not be able to request specific seats', but that doesn't lessen the potential for heartbreak. An assigned seating situation on a roller coaster still strikes me as totally ridiculous and downright un-American. Eric S's Cedar Point coaster ranking : 8th out of 13. Verdict : wait what?!? How could Valravn, the world's tallest dive coaster that shattered a crapton of records, possibly be ranked so low?!? .....because, dear reader, for those that've waited 45, 60, 90, even 120 minutes in the blazing hot Sandusky summer heat.....or the cold, unforgiving lake effect rain..... ......not having the freedom to choose your seat is the cheapest, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, blood-sucking, hopeless, heartless, d*ckless, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, biggest kick in the nutsack there is! This was my first dive coaster iv'e ever riden and it was intense. The 90 degree drop is so intense that it was one of the best drops iv'e ever been on. I know it is a short coaster but it can be still fun. Its woth the wait! read more

Cedar Point's newest coaster is a decidedly middle of the pack addition to the park's glorious collection of 17 roller coasters. But you know what? Average here is still enough to land it my 5-star rating. I got in line for Valravn at about 9:45, 15 minutes before the park closed. Knowing that I was guaranteed a spot on the ride just so long as I made it into the queue before closing time, I smugly basked in the knowledge that I would soon have made it onto every one of Cedar Point's adult coasters during my two day stay, apart from Mean Streak which is just too medieval for me, and just about everybody else, too. Little did I know that the soon in question would not happen until nearly midnight as the big, steel, mythological bird was beset upon by mechanical problems. Workmen had to remove one of Valravn's 3 trains entirely, and it took a long time to get it running again, but fortunately for me a lot of the other people in line left. The staff was so nice when I finally got up to the station and I thanked them for staying late for us. Valravn is a great coaster to ride at night and it was kind of cool and eerie to see the rest of the park all desolate. They did leave the Ferris wheel lit up for us, and I like the strip of light running up Valravn's steep lift hill. I managed to get the first row end seat, what seems like the best place to ride this beast. They leave you hanging over the edge just long enough for you to squirm. The first loop is a doozy and they throw in a second stop and dive cause if you have to make a coaster this short and wide might as well give it more than one 90 degree drop. This coaster is the most buttery smooth B and M ride I've ridden on yet. It's almost too smooth, like it takes away some ferocity. Notice I say almost. Thinking of other headache inducing rides, I'll take it. It didn't prove to be as wild of a ride as it looked from the ground, but it was still plenty of fun. Valravn is a solid addition to the Cedar Point skyline. It's pretty impressive it's one of 5 coasters there over 200 ft. tall. It'll be even more fun to ride when it's newness wears off and the lines aren't so ridiculous and they've got the mechanical bugs more worked out. And I trust that will happen. Bolliger and Mabillard coasters are known for running well, even if they don't match the white knuckle intensity of the Intamin coasters. One last thing - shouldn't Cedar Point be paying some royalties to the Baltimore Ravens for the theming here? There was one Valravn logo in particular that was a straight rip from that football team. I only rode this coaster once, but it's an awesome coaster. I rode it right after it first opened. It's a hanging coaster. That first initial drop is awesome and I enjoyed it, but it's not my favorite coaster in the park. They say it breaks a lot of world records, but there are other coasters I enjoy more such as the maverick, raptor, gatekeeper, millennium force, etc. still though it is an awesome coaster and definitely worth riding at least once while your visiting the park. I highly recommend sitting in the first seat as it will greatly improve the intensity of that first drop. read more

This ride was a good ride. I like how you hung off the edge for a second, not knowing when you're gonna drop. I don't like how you can't put your hands up because of the restraints, but other than that it was a good ride. I also really like the theme, but I feel like the orange-ish brown-ish color is a little weird. Still a good ride. read more

One word to describe this ride: forceless. It isn't in the slightest bit intense. It feels like your gracefully soaring throughout the ride. Personally, I would only wait a 15 minute wait for this ride, more time isn't worth it. It's too short and just left me disappointed. This was my favorite coaster at Cedar Point... yes, THIS ONE. I rode it four times the day I went I loved it so much. The dive aspect of the ride is just so much fun, especially in the front seats. Yeah, there are bigger, taller, faster rides but this thing was so smooth and fun. I loved it! read more
