The beach is real, and very nice. Kids are playing as well as the beach volleyball. Water is nice. We came here for sunset, but it doesn't seem to be a good place for sunset. The sand is nice. There are a lot of vacation homes near the beach, i guess it must be a very popular place in summer.

Kids have a blast. I am thrilled to see my children have the same type of fun I had growing up in the water. I grew up on the east coast (beach town) and I love seeing my children play in the water. It's like pulling teeth trying to get them to leave. Other than that, beach is nice and clean. Water is as clean as it can be for lake water. Restrooms and concessions are definitely convenient. Ample/convenient parking, and a playground and volleyball nets are good for the parents and guests who don't wanna take a dip in the water

Nickel Plate beach is a hidden gem. It's gorgeous and park/beach area is well kept. For a moment you forget your a lake until you get in the water and it more of a blue/green color and you can't see through it. Just don't sit next to the mom who is letting her children throw pringles at the sea gulls because 1,000 of the scavenger birds will flock to the food scraps and you will get shit on! It happened to us. Finally, BRING CASH! There is a $5.00 charge to get in and they only accept cash or check. We brought a cooler of beverages and were content spending a few hours indulging in the beautiful weather. The water is cold, the sand is hot and there is plenty of space to lounge and get a tan. What more can you ask for?

After leaving Cedar Point on a hot day, we decided to hit up a beach to waste an hour in the sun and cool off. Yelp brought us here and I really can't complain. Not much to say but that it's your typical lake beach. There's plenty of parking, a playground and an area for picnicking/grilling off the beach. The beach itself is decent. Hot sand plenty of room to find a spot. The walk to the beach from where you park your car is quite long. Prepare yourself though because there is an insane amount of feathers all over the place. It grosses me out. The water was average temperature and not the cleanest, but it's Lake Erie, not the Caribbean. There was no tide or current - very peaceful. People were lying on rafts. It's also important to note that there were no bathrooms or changing rooms. Closest thing is a maintenance hut with some soda and candy machines. We had to take shifts keeping lookout for one another as we hid in a little nook and changed into our suits! Haha! If we choose to visit the beach again, we'd probably just stay right at Cedar Point. I got a very local-vibe and don't think many tourists stop by.

    They love the water!

Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a great spot for a relaxing and scenic visit along Lake Erie…read more We went last weekend and were able to tour the lighthouse, which was definitely worth it. Admission was $5 per person, and kids 5 and under were free. The volunteers were friendly and shared a brief but interesting history of the lighthouse and how it's been used over the years. Once inside, be ready for a bit of a climb as there are 77 narrow spiral steps leading up to an outdoor observation area. The view is worth it to see beautiful sights of Lake Erie. Even if it's not that clear of a day, you can still see Cedar Point and the Lake Erie islands in the distance. The park itself is very well maintained and offers easy access to the shoreline while still feeling safe and family-friendly. It's a peaceful place to sit, relax, and enjoy the lake breeze and sounds. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

However, they have added some nice bathrooms and more picnic tables. The giftshop and ability to climb up to the top of the tower is open seasonal. Check before you go if this is important to you. We like to stop at one of the 2 ice cream places close by and take a treat with us to sit and relax. It's a great place to people watch! I have witnessed quite a few wedding pictures being taken there over the years.
