When we went on Sunday at 3pm, the party was going full swing and the DJ was great. There was no cover charge on Sunday and my friends reported the drinks as strong and reasonably priced. We stayed there for a few hours, danced in the pool, did plenty of people watching and enjoyed the escape from reality. The lodge house was built in the 1920's. It's old, but well maintained with hardwood floors, lots of guest rooms, and an old style lodge style living room. The community bathrooms are updated. They are very nice with stalls and showers, and shower chairs are available. The rooms are nice size, and have a full bed and a bunk bed. There is a dresser and lamp and overhead light in each. I entered the lodge from the front door, and there are steps into the building and to the second floor. Across the street are the meeting buildings with dining room and kitchen. The beach neighborhood is nice to walk around. From the beach you can see Cedar Point.

Peaceful, Beautiful, and Always Worth the Walk…read more Sheldon Marsh is one of those places that just hits every time, no matter the season. The paved trail makes it super easy for anyone to enjoy--perfect for a peaceful walk, birdwatching, or just soaking in some fresh air. It's quiet, full of wildlife, and there's always something new to catch your eye. One of my favorite parts is when the path opens up to the beach. You get this wide view of Lake Erie, and if you look out far enough, you'll spot the Cedar Point coasters in the distance. It's a cool little reminder of home--nature in front of you, thrill rides in the background. If you're up for a bit of a longer walk, you can follow the beach all the way down to the Point Retreat condos and back. It's a beautiful stretch along the water and gives you even more time to enjoy the lake breeze. And if you're a golf fan, the newly updated Sawmill Creek Golf Course runs right alongside the preserve. You might catch a few swings and even spot a bird or two between shots. Whether I'm home with family or just need a place to reset, Sheldon Marsh is always worth the visit. One of the best spots in Ohio, hands down.

On this particular morning at 6:30 am it was just us and the seagulls. It is also nice to take a break from Cedar Point when it gets crowded in the afternoon, and walking on the beach is our favorite way to relax. Although the water was too cold for swimming on this trip, in the summer heat it is very refreshing to take a swim in the lake.

Some years they have various activities, like games on the beach, or festivals, like lit up blow ups for a light festival and silent disco. It is a great place if you want to swim in the lake and you have beach access if you are a guest at Breakers. This lake tends to be a bit chilly when ever I go, but temps might vary. This is a fun place to take a break, or if you can get here without going to the park, a fun time to eat at Breakers and play at the beach.

A good time was had by all, minus the incident with the poorly behaved off leash golden retriever. There's almost always one of those, though..... Note that the beach is not technically dog friendly, but there were a few there.

Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a great spot for a relaxing and scenic visit along Lake Erie…read more We went last weekend and were able to tour the lighthouse, which was definitely worth it. Admission was $5 per person, and kids 5 and under were free. The volunteers were friendly and shared a brief but interesting history of the lighthouse and how it's been used over the years. Once inside, be ready for a bit of a climb as there are 77 narrow spiral steps leading up to an outdoor observation area. The view is worth it to see beautiful sights of Lake Erie. Even if it's not that clear of a day, you can still see Cedar Point and the Lake Erie islands in the distance. The park itself is very well maintained and offers easy access to the shoreline while still feeling safe and family-friendly. It's a peaceful place to sit, relax, and enjoy the lake breeze and sounds. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
