For cardio, they have three stair masters, tons of different treadmills and ellipticals and even the Jacob's ladder (one day I'll be brave enough to give this a try). The gym is surrounded by windows which makes working out so much better when there's natural light. With the gym membership, you also get to group classes and access to the pool. My favorite part is the discount on massages. An hour massage is $65. If you're a GHS employee, this gets knocked down to $60. Their massage therapists are fantastic - I leave feeling like a million bucks every time.

The stalls have vinyl shower curtains that are slimy. Considering this facility is owned by GHS, they ought to be ashamed by the lack of cleanliness. Furthermore, the classes are pretty sad. In cycle class I experienced one loud-mouthed, rude member. He wouldn't stop talking to his friend at a volume above the music! The instructor tried to quiet him down as it was rude to the rest of the class. This guy, at the end of class, yelled at the instructor that he will talk as loudly as he wants in class. When the instructor said "that's not polite to the other members" he stuck his butt out towards a studio full of people and screamed like a madman; "you can kiss my a**, go ahead kiss it!" over and over again. Mad! Didn't know what this guy was capable of. Had never seen anything like this happen in any of the 7 other gyms where I have been a member around the country. Crazy! It's pretty poorly run all around. Unprofessional. It's too bad bc it could be a decent facility if it were clean and better managed. Greenville needs more high-end health clubs.

What started as casual participation turned into silent exclusion, with vague accusations made behind my back, damaging my reputation. I later learned this rumor had spread reaching family and personal contacts -- causing real distress and reputational harm. When I asked respectfully for transparency, I was met with deflection and silence. People deserve to feel safe from gossip and to be treated with dignity, especially in places meant to promote health and well-being. My experience was anything but that. When that is too busy or I have my kids with me, I use the 25 meter/yard therapy pool. At the time of this review, I have been paying for 3 visits at a time-- am not paying for the year. This is first and foremost a pool for lap swimming and swimming lessons. The gym is secondary and small. The playground is open to everyone but still managed by Greenville County. The last time I was there, one slide was broken/taped off. The schedule for use of the two pools is posted every week online. If you don't check that schedule, you may arrive to find the facility having a swim meet or closed. Over the years, the schedule has improved in its readability. Remember that if lightning is in the area, they have a (45 minute?) pause on swimming. That could close the facility early. They occasionally have a new person working the front but the facility is usually managed very well. For a person new to the community, just ask for help-- its a big facility.
