I ordered a deck kit from A-DIY and it was shipped to Planes Moving for delivery near Chillicothe, OH. The shipment consisted of 4 skids, 10 ft long, each weighing between 850-950 lbs. I called their scheduling the day before the shipment and asked what kind of truck they would be bringing. I was told a box truck. I asked how they would get a forklift on a box truck. I said they would need a flatbed and a forklift. She said all she did was scheduling. Needless to say, 3 movers showed up with a box truck. Nothing but 2-wheelers as equipment. The skids were longer than the truck was wide so they were loaded lengthwise. The movers had to physically move the skids to the liftgate and then turn them on the liftgate to get them to the ground. One almost got his hand smashed and another fell off the liftgate trying to position the skid. Luckily neither were injured. Once on the ground they had to use the liftgate to push the pallets into position. The three movers were great and maintained a positive attitude throughout the entire event. But I would never hire a company that thinks so little of their people to put their health at risk like that by not providing them with the proper equipment to do the job. read more

We continue to get the run around from Planes Moving & Storage. Our mattress and base were originally supposed to be delivered 4/28 by 5:30pm. We received a call from a private number at 2:50pm on the 28th saying we were good to go for Friday 5/1. We stated that they were supposed to be here by 5:30pm today (4/28). They stated that a driver had been hurt and they could not get it to us before Friday 5/1. They also stated that they tried to get a hold of us earlier in the day, but were unsuccessful. Checking our call log on our cell phone confirmed that was not true. When we said this was unacceptable as we should be the priority since we were being rescheduled we were told that was not possible and we would be given a new delivery window on Wednesday 4/29. When we did not get a new window by 4pm Wednesday 4/29 we called the main office since we could not call back the private number. They said they could not provide a window until Thursday when they were scheduling routes. We gave up and awaited another text with a delivery window. Finally on Thursday 4/30 we received a text message with a delivery date of Friday 5/1 by 3:30pm. On Friday at 2:20pm we received yet another text stating my delivery date would be Wednesday May 6th with no delivery window yet again. We called the main office for Planes Moving & Storage. They could not give me an explanation at all as to why it had been rescheduled. They proceeded to blame the mattress company for not sending the items to them, which, if true, why would they bother scheduling a delivery time? We have no faith that Planes Moving & Storage will ever successfully delivery our base and mattress to us. Nor do we trust anything we have been told by them. We have already taken two days off of work in order to be here to receive our products. read more

Got a mattress delivered in Cincinnati. The driver, Deon, had a sour attitude and complained the whole time. I didn't even ask him to put the mattress on the bed. Just had him set it down on the floor and leave as soon as possible. I hope to never come across him again. read more

This is a horrific moving company. they never showed up!!! Please contact me for more info. I will be sueing them via small claims court for emotional damages. The company should have called me to ask me or remind me about the contract. I had many interactions with them on the phone and by email. I have the receipts in my email including the contract. We even extended the move from one day to two! Doing business with a huge company for a local move is a terrible idea. They failed to complete their obligation. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

Do not use these movers. They did not unpack my mothers belongings even though it was in the contract. They did however do a good job of moving the furniture in. They were hard working men efficient. Basically they left my 90 year old mother high and dry They damaged the wall on the entry to the apartment and said nothing. read more

I contracted to Planes Moving and Storage to move my personal property from Berlin Germany to Reno Nevada. The moving specialist provided me with a quote and a duration estimate of 1 - 2 months for my personal property to arrive in Reno shipped by sea. The movers arrived on June 16, 2021 and informed me that the shipment was small enough to ship by air and this would shorten the trip to a matter of weeks. Because of the air shipment many things were not allowed, dried food, spices, medicine, and all liquids, all had to be thrown away. After my belongings were packed and gone the representative from Planes told me that it would be an extra ~$2,000 to ship by air. I did not agree to this. It has been 5 weeks and my belongings still haven't shipped. They told me that my shipment wouldn't arrive in Los Angeles until August 30. The 1 - 2 month duration turned in to 3 - 4 month duration. They did not fulfill their estimate, and caused me a loss from things I had to throw away. Highly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Movers didn't show up on pickup. The job took three times longer than it should have. Move Coordinator and Sales Rep give insincere apologies, and reported it to 'operations', but no real apology/discount/any communication since. Asked for a discount, but when you're not happy with them, they ghost you. The move coordinator disappeared on move in day and hasn't been heard from since. They broke my sofa leg and said it would be submitted to claims, but no one will respond. Charged me for two months storage initially, when I had told them well in advance of the move, that it would be a couple weeks at most. They refused to correct it, or even respond, until after the move in. Still haven't received final bill, although it has been weeks since move in. Unprofessional, no communication, and don't accept responsibility for mistakes. Stay away from this company! read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE CROOKS. Planes came out with a rep to my parents' place at their request to see what they had to move and get a quote. My parents explained that the movers won't be moving everything as they planned on moving smaller stuff and needed help on the bigger stuff but Planes said they could only quote on doing the entire job - fair enough in case my parents needed more help then anticipated. The quote was estimated for 8 hours of work to move everything in their house at just under $1600. Move day came and my parents managed to move everything they expected they could and the movers were done in 6 hours. They then presented my parents with a final bill of over $1800. Doesn't take a 3rd grade math level to scratch your head and go, why? After several phone calls, Planes was only willing to discount $300 basically down to the original quote of $1500 and change. So let's do that 3rd grade math: $1600 divided by 8 hours is $200 per hour. They were there for 6 hours which should have been a bill for $1200. Do yourself a favor and avoid these crooks. And for anyone questioning why a person from California is reviewing this Ohio company - I paid for my parents' move. They took my money so they now they receive my wrath. read more

Very frustrating and stressful experience. Lots of excuses. Poor communication. Delivery was 9 days late, contract wasn't followed by the company. When furniture and belongings arrived we had damage. A couch & love seat were both dirty and both had tears. Love seat had 2 oil spots too. Appeared as though they were stood up on end and slid on the floor. A nice grill was damaged. The end of a dresser base was torn off. Two folding tables used for a computer were damaged and not useable. Relatively new dryer had an inch long scratch. An antique dresser had some wood missing from side. They removed the frame holding a lamp shade. No idea where that is i could go on as that isn't all. We continue to unpack. Even had two cooking pans damaged and unusable. Something heavy was put on that box. Credit card was charged the full amount. We were told we would be sent a 500 dollar check to help with hotel but haven't seen that. We had 9 hotel nights due to late delivery. Five hundred isn't enough for 9 hotel nights. The move with this company was a nightmare. I wish we had never used them . Beware ! read more

Disappointing on several levels. The packers and movers didn't communicate with each other, so several large items, including artwork, were poorly packed. The movers damaged a number of items, including an antique credenza, and soiled carpeting during the move-in. Resolving the claims was painful - they refused to reimburse us for the credenza repair because I did it myself, likely saving them a big cost. Estimate was accurate, salespeople friendly, and coordinator extremely helpful. The individuals who loaded the truck were a different story. Packed a heavy item on top of a high value antique desk (declared high value). The desk was protected by one pad which wore through during the move, leaving a gouge in the top of the desk. The same time happened to a hutch bottom. Other damage was due to poor packing/loading. Destination crew were great, fixing minor damage on other pieces. read more

Nightmare moving experience. They were the local sub for our international move and it started off well. Packing/wrapping was great , loading went well, but the crew leader seemed to have a serious issue as he snapped from one moment to the other when we insisted on confirming with the off-site moving coordinator that they would not seal the container on site (contrary what we were told would happen). He tried to run over my husband with his truck when we asked him to wait till we got someone on the phone.. They did not provide the required paperwork before the guy just drove off. Policed got informed and the company simply plays it off. They apologized for the bad behavior of their guy and think it is ok. read more

Planes runs Best Priced Boxes from their Dividend Drive address and I went to specifically try to get used boxes for my upcoming move to SC. They had no used boxes in the sizes I needed when I went in, but gave me 10% off the new boxes. They also loaded the boxes into my car, and threw in 3 rolls of packing tape and a 5lb bundle of wrapping paper. Great service! read more

We moved from Ohio to Florida with Planes/United and could not have been more impressed with the professionalism of everyone involved. From Ryan, who came and estimated our move, to Kyra, our move coordinator, to Diana and her packing crew, to our actual moving crew with Johnny as driver and supervisor, they were all very, very good. We moved during June, and it was hot in Ohio and even hotter in Florida and everyone worked their tails off to give us the perfect, trouble-free move. Nothing was lost, nothing was broken, or even scratched, everything was very well cared for. The truck even came to our new home ahead of schedule. If we ever need to make another move, I wouldn't even consider another company. read more

On July 11, 2016 I made the drastic mistake of hiring Planes Moving and Storage to move my belongings into a storage unit until my home was ready for my final move. I had all small things packed and sealed. The only items they were to pack were 3 floor lamps, shades, 2 table lamps and a few pictures. and 2 mirrors. I was assured by their representative when he came to look over all the furniture and items that everything would be padded and handled with great care. The three men showed up that morning as scheduled to load and move everything. When they arrived and started loading one of the guys noticed I had an appliance dolly and asked if they could use it as theirs was in very bad shape. The tires were dry rotted and flat. I agreed. They came in started wrapping up the mirrors and pictures. One guy removed one of the glass lamp shades while another one carried the matching floor lamp outside with the shade still on. I tried my best to keep an eye on everything that was going on but with 3 of them all going in different directions I admit it was hard. They moved the larger dresser and pieces outside and 2 of them were loading while one guy (the man in charge) gave directions and stayed on the truck to pack it. They advised me they had everything and were heading to the storage unit 8 miles away. Once we arrived they started unloading the truck as I watched them the lead man was inside the doors at the unit loading it. They went to move the larger pieces and now using their own dolly I watched in horror as the 2 young guys tried to move it from the top of the ramp and their dolly with the flat tires rolled right of the top over the ramp and fell off the truck taking one young man with him. The dresser (which was purchased 4 months prior for $1,250.00 ) was totaled, drawers cracked and broken, 2 legs broken off. I immediately checked on the young man and although bleeding and banged up said he was fine. I called the office to talk directly to my rep who said all would be fine. Wrong! They tried to use every method to not reimburse me for the dresser. As they finished loading the unit I was able to get over their and again watch in horror as the lead man dropped the door on another antique chest worth over $3,600.00. As it slammed down I tried to stop it but i could not get past him in time. He lifted the door up just enough to push the dresser in a few inches and slammed the door down. He then turned and said "Our responsibility ends when the door closes"!! The next few months I was filled with dread as to the lack of care they took of my possessions and what I was going to find when opened up and Items moved. We 2 weeks ago I hired E.E. Ward Moving and Storage to remove my things and move to my new home. The experience with E.E. Ward was exceptional! The only company I will you and ever recommend! As we unloaded and unpacked I found that they had chipped, damaged and broken numerous items including not only braking the one glass lamp shade that they carried out and obviously not packed as promised and I was guaranteed would be done. The damage they did was well over $1,000.00 but claim no responsibility since their man closed the unit door and damage was not discovered prior to that. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

NEVER USE PLANES!!! Terrible experience. I would never use them again. The packers were extremely slow and took way too many smoke breaks making what should have been a reasonably easy pack (we had done most of the packing ahead of time) a whole day event. After the unload, they had us sign off that there were no property damages. Upon inspection of the surfaces we could see everything looked fine, however, after moving and unpacking the boxes they had unloaded into our master bedroom it was discovered that there were two large stains on our brand new carpet from a wet and dirty box. The only way this would have been detected prior to them leaving was if we literally picked up every box they brought into our house and inspected the surface underneath (not realistic). When we filed a claim to have the carpet cleaned they denied us stating that we had signed off on any property damage prior to the movers leaving. Absurd. Im not sure why we wasted our money on the additional insurance since they basically deny every claim that is filed anyway. read more

From the beginning with the representative who came to my home to measure and count and document everything I had to move and what I needed packed by them in order to provide an estimate (only one other company sent a rep out but they were a small company and moving to another state would have cost me a lot more to use them), to the thoroughness and friendliness of the movers themselves, it was a harmonious process (they even left out one chair during the moving process so I'd have something to sit on all day). There were a couple of things I needed to be reimbursed for (less than $200), but nothing of huge value - those items were packed REALLY WELL! They arrived on time the day of the move and were early the day of delivery. The reimbursement came quickly after I submitted my claim form with pictures. I assume for some things they might actually send a representative out but for my two items, my pictures were sufficient enough. Not giving a 5 star because of a couple of damaged items, but pretty darn close. Definitely worth getting an estimate if you're moving to another state. read more

Very disappointed with my move experience with Planes. They did not adequate repair damage to furniture or damage to walls and floors at both locations. Several items were missing and they would not reimburse due to item check offs incomplete. I was in a pinch for time due to a house sale deadline, but this company worked within my timeline to deliver a precious piece of family history to my home. Overall move was handled well from packing and storage in Columbus in January to delivery in Arizona 7 months later in August. Alex Naish was great to work with before and after items were put in storage. Helped us out with pricing the storage due to the length of time items would be held in Columbus. Meagan Flege also was great providing assistance in Columbus and then for our final move to Arizona. Provided us with info regarding loading and then delivery time in Arizona. Everyone including men packing and loading to the men delivering out furniture in Arizona were easy to work with and helpful overall. read more

The crew that moved my house out and into storage (which the move-in team told me probably never happened because they would just keep the items on the truck if the storage time was 2 weeks) was beyond rude and even made comments about the quality of my furniture (many antiques) and damaged seven furniture items. This moving company moved my personal property from WI to OH. They lost 32 boxes and an 18' extension ladder which I never got back. I had to file a claim for over $24,000 and they paid only a fraction of that amount, denying almost all responsibility. The crew that delivered the personal property destroyed the house leaving chunks out of the molding and tearing up a hardwood floor as they dragged a BBQ grill through the house instead of around the house to the back yard. I documented the damage and had a Planes employee come back a few days later to take pictures of the damage. When I confronted them about the damage they suddenly had amnesia about taking the pictures of the damage and all documentation I provided them was missing. As expected they denied all home damage reported stating I did not documented the damage. Their insurance company also denied responsibility. They lost or destroyed the documentation. They are an unethical and deceitful company and they should be investigated for fraud. They think the little guy has no chance against them but the company I work for has stopped doing business with them due to their tactics. Do not use this company for your moving needs. read more
