What a perfect business name "plan B" for my nightmare. Long story short, my original mechanic didn't show up at the time we had agreed (5pm) and by 6pm, I had to find a plan B. Turns out, I INDEED found Plan B with Jessie! He was understanding of my situation and he made the impossible happen. It was already dark by 7pm, but he got everything done just as he said he would by 9:30pm. He had great communication skills from the beginning to end. I needed my seat belt unlocked and instead his solution was to replace it. $150plus to change the seat belt is a little overpriced being its only three bolts that need to be removed and a clip. 1) Great response time to yelp quotes. Quoted me $90 for a diagnostic which is standard when yelp sent out my diagnostic price quote request to other repair shops in the area. Diagnostic would be free if I agreed to repairs the same day (so less work putting the car back together when things were already disassembled during the process to search for the problem). 2) Almost no repair shops are open on Sunday. I know of an inexpensive shop in South El Monte that opens on Saturdays but I was cautious about going to them with this situation (however would have had much lower costs). Jessie said it was his birthday so for him to take time out on his birthday on a Sunday to still work on people's urgent repairs is quite commendable. I did drive to his home locations to get the repair done so he didn't have to drive out to me. 3) He seems very honest and knew what he was doing. Always gave good advice on things I should also worry about in the future in regards to repairs when I had the funds. 4) He found the problem and drove me to a nearby parts store to get the part. He has an account there so he could get us all some discounted prices. Giving him 5 stars because it was a bad situation that was resolved quickly in a reasonably priced manner. I appreciate his honesty and hard work. I felt bad that he did have to burn his hand on the hot belt/pulleys & had to lay down on the hot road (Jessie should get some cardboard to cushion himself from the road). His driveway is gravel so I could see why he didn't do the repair there and on the street instead so the jack is somewhat on solid level ground. After all, he is more of a mobile mechanic rather than this being a home garage repair shop. Overall, it was a good experience. I am glad it was not more costly repairs than it could have been and I have a car to commute to work on Monday.
