Pitta gyros and pitta falafel
Mike A.

The pittas and plates are both great options. I personally prefer the plate. Their tzatziki pairs really well with their meats. The meat itself is freshly sliced from the vertical skewers, juicy and full of flavor. Service is usually very quick

Amazing Falafel dish.

Great service, great food and it felt like I was in Athens! Typical Greek ambiance. Loved it!

4.5 stars overall. The food had amazing flavors and the staff was just so nice! The drinks were good too! I loved this place and I would definitely recommend! The price is good for the quality of the food! Came around 98 euros for 8 people.

Assiette Maison

During my recent vacation to Europe this summer, I had an overnight layover in Brussels. No better way to take advantage than with a night out in the city. After burning a few calories exploring the Grand Place area, I stumbled upon Rue du Marché aux Fromage, home to a few Greek restaurants side by side. I decided to go with Plaka and am so glad I did! The Assiette Maison came with extremely generous portions - exactly what I needed after walking around beautiful Brussels all afternoon. The area was quite busy and lively on a Saturday night as most of their seating is outdoors (directly in front of the restaurant as well as across the street). Would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area! Be sure to have some Euros on hand though as they are cash only...

Gyros with mixed veg for pita or gyros and fries, about 8 a piece
Lucas W.

There are a ton of Greek or Mediterranean restaurants along the street but I'm glad we went to Plaka. It was a good sized portion of gyros and came with a bunch veggies. My wife got the gyros with fries which was good but lacking the veggies to stuff into a pita. It came with one pita per order but I got the sense we could've asked for more. €8 per plate, single pita was less Service was fairly quick tho once we got food our server kinda disappeared - we were outside and he seemed to have gotten pulled elsewhere. As a result I never got my baklava but I was full and wasn't charged for it so no big deal.

The best Greek food we've had in years!! Nothing else to say. Going back again for the second time in two days.

The is a must try spot in Brussels fresh delicious Greek food! All the staff is Greek and they are all so friendly and the food is delicious!! Good portions packed with flavor and decent prices. The small is very small but has plenty of seating and it was very clean. The falafel pita was delicious!! Also the hummus is a mUst have so fresh and delicious

4 euro for this much needed beer.

I just got into town and was looking for something close to the hotel. I ended up here based on the reviews and wasn't disappointed. I had the mixed plate which was an astonishing amount of food for thought price tag. The food came quickly, was well prepared, fresh and delicious. The service was curt and quick which I appreciated. The place is small, rather loud and seemingly very busy...all great signs of a place you should go. Thank you for a welcoming and wonderful meal for a weary travler.

This place sits in a row of Greek restaurants just behind the main square. A bit seedy maybe and very touristy. Thus, the fresh, tasty food and good service at Plaka came as a huge positive surprise. Large plates of Greek food and quality beers (Leffe, Duvel, Hoegaarden), for really friendly prices; draft pilsener for 2 euro anyone? And, specialty beers for 3-3.50! Only negative was the very obvious smell of (burnt?) oil throughout the place. Some new / improved exhaust system would be nice.

Excelent food at good prices in the heart of Brussels. If you happen to get hungry in grand place and you have a taste for Greek cuisine this is the spot for you. Recommended dish assiette maison ;)

If you want a late night Gyros, this is the place to go!

If you want a late night Gyros, this is the place to go! Friendly service and very fast! So you won't have to wait long to get your tummy filled

Best page on menu.

It's where families go. Look around at the other places. No kids. Plaka has a following. If they would just dare to make outside non smoking. It's tiny and tight and the smoke was bad. Next time inside for some good simple real food. Friendly staff too. Good prices for the quality and quantity.

This location is at the center of a lot of the major tourist attractions and is therefore great if you're looking for a quick, on-the-go breakfast or lunch without having to sit down (though that is still an option). Panos is a chain bakery/sandwich shop and was recommended by one of the aunties. Stuff you can find here includes sandwiches, wraps, soups, sweet and savory pastries, individual loaves and rolls, salads, coffee, and hot chocolate. Super basic, but high-quality stuff compared to a lot of other chain bakery places we saw as we traveled through Europe. Some of those sweet pastries were just really fancy looking for what's supposed to apparently be a very basic place, while even the basic stuff tasted really delicious. Their croissants were also super delicious, and I thought the raspberry croissant was particularly interesting. This particular location is on the street branching just off Grote Markt (Grand Place) and just across from the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert's southern entrance. It was near where we were supposed to meet up with our tour group, so we dropped by very quickly to grab some breakfast. My chief memory of that morning was that their waffle honestly made me feel better about the first half of the day.

When we arrived we were met by a really nice guy behind the counter who helped us oit with his recommemdations. There were so much delicious options, but in the end I got the Chorizo and Goat Cheese Foccia as well as the Peppered Salami & Cheese Panini Melt. Originally the peppered salami & cheese was only an option for the ciabatta, but the guy let us choose different bread if we wanted to. Awesome service, I'm telling you. Both of them were super tasty, and pretty filling. If you're looking for a place that's got both the taste and the filling for a good price, this is the place for you.

Compared to the medinas in Morocco I would spend the next few weeks walking through, the streets of Brussels are fairly easy to navigate, although signage is still lacking to some degree. My GPS signal was pretty much nonexistent, so after guessing which train stop I needed to get off on, I really needed to pull up a map on an internet connection to get well situated. Delish prominently displayed their free wifi sign, at a time when few other businesses were open so early in the morning. What a relief. After getting settled in with a connection I decided to sample one of their signature coffee drinks, a mocha with a chantilly cream topping and real chunks of Belgian chocolate at the bottom. I didn't know I needed it, but once I had it damn was I grateful. It was the perfect pick-me-up for the sour attitude I was experiencing after dealing with such bad customer service, and the gals here helped relieve some of that too. Their welcoming demeanor and smiles really made a difference for me that morning, and helped change my impression of the otherwise cold city to that point.

We were able to make selections from over 100 different cheeses as well as a variety of cured meats. The sandwich rivals my other fave from Alain Alain in Paris. It's a small but charming and quintessential Belgian shop. Traditional in every sense of the word. Simply put, it's a cheese lover's paradise. Catherine is extremely kind and patient as are her employees. They offer the ability to taste samples before making decisions. They're very helpful with making said decisions as well. A haven for like minded cheesemongers means the line can sometimes go out the door, especially at lunchtime. It is well worth the wait because so much love and care goes into every transaction with every customer. A most divine experience indeed.

Was so looking forward to our return trip to Brussels and visiting Catherine's. Over our week long stay we managed 3 visits to pick up cheese, freshly sliced deli meat, bead and made to order sandwiches. The cheeses that we selected were so very fresh and the selection to choose from was amazing. Of course my favorite was the truffle. We picked up sandwiches on two occasions and they were basically the same. The second one Catherine added a new little taste with the addition of three small roasted peppers. We had forgotten to ask for arugula and Catherine asked if we wanted it on this one...what a memory. Catherine's is a small place and always very busy. Quality shines throughout. The customers are almost all locals...another great sign. We noticed that when there were about three people inside that the patrons formed a line out of the door. Think out of respect for Catherine. Wish we had had a quality shop like Catherine's in metro Atlanta. We would drive to experience this and here in the hustle and bustle of Brussels there is a gem. Highly recommend. Prices are extremely reasonable. Can't wait to return...sooner than later. Thanks Catherine.
