I'd never think that a meatloaf sandwich with potato salad on it would be so delicious, it sounds more like something you make out of kitchen leftovers when you stumble home from the bar. There was a lineup out the door when I got there of what appeared to be locals (including a bunch of police officers). It's always a good sign when locals choose a place to eat. I got a massive Niçoise salad for €9, which is inexpensive for Brussels (or much of Europe). It would easily make a tasty, satisfying takeaway lunch for two. You can have your sandwich on a baguette bread or a pistolei. A pistolei is a round sized bread, similar to a sourdough bread bowl that American clam chowder comes in. I got their machiavelli? Not sure what it was, really but it wasn't anything special. It had a thick layer of some sort of rich orange mousse but I tasted more of the sweet pickles that it came with. It also came with pickled onions and sprouts. I would say it was "just ok" but the person who made my sandwich said this was one of the more popular sandwiches that they sold. I also had some sort of vegetable soup but it was all blended together so I really don't know what it was. I was a bit overwhelmed by the choices but managed to say "salmon and brie... and tomatoes" and my very simple but very tasty sandwich was ready. A very large portion. The bread was excellent. Obviously, the food near the tourist area is overpriced. We found this place using Yelp. The only opened $ restaurant in the area. I am so glad we came here. The waitress was an old day and she was super nice and friendly. My husband ordered a salmon sandwich, which is about 5-6 euro. It was filled with Salmon and had a good portion. However, we did't like the bread that much, a bit dry. I ordered mussels and it cost about 20 euro. It was a huge bowl that was enough for both of us. We ate with our hand with de-shell the mussels. It was super good, I drank all the soup as well. I really like restaurants in Europe because no tip is needed. We really enjoyed this place for brunch. My niece and I each ordered a panini, my wife ordered a breakfast sandwich with a egg on top. All was really good and reasonably priced. The only downside was that we sat on the street and some guy was peeing (facing the street ) and then started knocking over all the scooters that were parked around. We ordered sandwiches at the counter. The woman behind the counter spoke English and that was a relief for us. I had the Italian sandwich with an espresso. Decided to try this place while touring the city. Ordered the American beef tartare and the salmon sandwiches. I loved both! The kind lady working that day grabbed fresh bread from their bin (for Americans, this is amazing since all of ours are manufactured).
