I went for a simple colon polyp removal on Feb.21. The day before was telephoned and reassured that everything would be great. That was a great start. Admission went smooth and the nurses were very welcoming. Thank you Carol, Melissa, and Filomina. (Hope spelled your names correctly.) Something did not go smooth with my body after the procedure and all these amazing nurses (I cannot recall due to being "out") surrounded me with lots of care. I am very grateful to all of you! Had to make an unfortunate visit in the middle of the night because my 17month old Son was in a lot of pain in his arm, crying every time it was touched, security let me in through the wrong door bc I never been there before and he saw us holding him by the door, walked us to the right area, signed in and a nurse met us in the waiting room, apparently she has seen this injury before and was able to help right away. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes and my son was feeling better and went back to sleep as soon as we got back home. Thanks to the staff all around for the quick efficient work. read more

On March 13th I called an ambulance since my husband was unconscious. He was rushed to the nearest hospital. I spent entire night in ER where doc told me he had TIA. As soon as my husband was COVID negative he was transferred to a room so they asked me to leave. I asked what are the visiting hours. I was told there aren't any due to COVID but I can speak to his nurse/doc for updates. Next morning I called and spoke to nurse who said he'll be going for testing. I left a message with the nurse for his doc to call me. After few hours, I called and spoke to nurse again who filled me in and I left another message for doc to call me. No call again. Next morning I spoke to a new nurse and told her to gave doc call me. No doc called. In the afternoon I spoke to nurse Gabby, again who said she gave my message to doc. I asked her for docs number-she said she does not have the number but she pages the docs to reach them. I spoke to an attorney friend who said I should ask to switch his doc. Next day the hospital social worker to tell my my husband is ready to be released. I was flabbergasted and told her why isn't my husband's doc calling me. What is her problem? If doc is so busy she should not be his doc. I was so frustrated and told her exactly how I felt. She suggested I speak to head of patient relations. I called up the head of patient relations, Alexa to complain her about my husbands doc not calling me back. Alexa said to give her a few minutes. Within minutes my husbands doc called and told me she never got any messages from me. I told her I find that hard to believe that she did not get 5 messages from me, I told her I was very upset that my husband had a stroke, I can't see him and she never calls me back. She said she is mot releasing him that day but the next day. I asked to meet with her. She said she has a meeting but will try to meet me. Next day my son and I picked up my husband from the hospital but the doc never met us. Never use Dr. Elena Schumuter at Plainview hospital. After coming home I called to ask about a medication which said to stop and to continue. This doc mixed up his med order on his discharge papers. read more

26 years ago I came to Plainview hospital ER and had the worst experience ever... And tonight I'm here and nothing has changed. This hospital is terrible! The ER employees are miserable, unfriendly, totally without compassion and downright rude! Avoid this place if you can. The ER staff ignores you until they absolutely have to speak to you and then they hi back to ignoring you again while they sit at the desk bullshitting, laughing and carrying on. My daughter had hand surgery on 4/4/2017. For something that could have been a scary experience, the nurses, Edna in pre-op and Terry in recovery, made this day so much easier for us. Actually pretty enjoyable....if you can call surgery that. Edna started our morning off in such a comforting way. She even had us laughing. My daughter was not nervous at all. Terry was by her side after surgery. She kept this momma bear at ease. We got to laugh at my daughter's post-anesthesia antics. Today, 4/6/2017, I received a call from Edna to check up on my daughter. How amazing is that!?! Terry jumped on the line also. They were so caring. Disgusting. My mother in law was having a cardiac event, went to the emergency room and THEY TOLD HER TO JUST WAIT! She had clammy hands, jaw hurt, and headache and they just said wait. Thankfully my father-in-law said forget this and they left and drove straight to St. Francis hospital where they were extremely impressed. She got an EKG immediately and other tests and surgery shortly after that and saved her life. It was made known if she stayed at Plainview on the waiting room SHE WOULD HAVE DIED. Awful. INCOMPETENT people working there. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with me when I went into the ER in the afternoon. On top of that they had an awful tech who didn't know his right and left, or how to move me from one bed to another. I didn't have confidence in his abilities any further and refused to have him administer the test. He told me I was the 3rd person to refuse the test with him that day ( Not suprising.) By evening the hospital released me and told me nothing was wrong with me. The next day I went to a different hospital as I had worsened and they knew my condition right away and put me on medicine in ICU that I was there for about 6 days in ICU. I could have ultimately died from my condition if left untreated much longer or misdiagnosed. I obviously wouldn't give them any stars if the site allowed me to. read more

On May 16th, 2022 I had Pre Surgical Testing done at Plainview. As soon as I entered the parking lot everything was a positive experience. The free valet parking with friendly parking attendants went very smoothly. The only part I would give less stars is that the PST area is in the basement. Once I got into the PST waiting room the receptionists were both very nice. The woman who helped me was very friendly as well. Throughout this review I wish I could give the names of people but I am not allowed. When I got into the PST room the 2 nurses were a great team who were very informative, nice, answered all of my questions and got me outta there in record time. The free valet gives you a text with a link which allows you to let them know you are ready and the car was waiting when I walked out. On May 19th, 2022 I had my surgery and my wife walked me in and the security desk was a welcoming reception. The man gave my wife his direct line if she had any questions and explained to us how the whole procedure would be played out so she would feel comfortable leaving and coming back. He escorted me to the pre operational room where a nurse would get me hooked up to a bed. Once in this area the nurse was excellent from making me feel comfortable, being friendly and helpful. My surgery got delayed an hour and she even offered to find me a phone charger because I had a low battery. All the nurses in this area were so nice and friendly. Once I got into the operating room with my Dr. Everyone worked together as a team and it went smooth. When I woke up in recovery, the nurse was amazing. I was in pain and she helped me deal with the situation and took excellent care of me. She personally called my wife and gave her an update and gave a heads up I would be ready with enough time for her to come back to hospital. When it was time she called her again and a wheel chair attendant wheeled me out were my wife was waiting. The whole experience both days, to me, was worth 5 stars. Even though Plainview Hospital was going through some renovations on the outside, they working as an efficient winning team on the inside. I would recommend this hospital most definitely. read more

My Dad is 72 years old . He has been in wound care at Plainview Hospital. He needed surgery on his foot. He was admitted and surgery was done. He was sent to a rehabilitation to heal. His blood pressure dropped and was sent back to Plainview hospital. My Dad is negative for Covid19 and was kept in isolation for 3 weeks. He hasn't been outside or around anybody but the staff at the hospital and rehabilitation. When he was sent to the hospital he was negative. Two days later and now he is positive for Covid19!!! He is having trouble healing from the surgery and now this horrible virus. He got it from Plainview Hospital! Be aware!!!! He is wheelchair bound and doesn't touch walls or doors or anything. So who in the hospital gave it to him? read more

Seems like the bad reviews here were done by some wacky yayhoos. I was an inpatient at this wonderful hospital and here is my thorough review. ER Staff: personable, hilarious, and warm. Thank you Dr. Lu, nurse Manuel, and nurse Stacy for making me feel comfortable and at ease. Being in the ER alone is intimidating, but I didn't feel that way. Everyone introduced themselves to me and told me what their role would be in my care. ER Procedures: I had the benefit of walking in at a particularly slow time. I had literally less than a minute of wait time. The waiting room has charges for all kinds of phones by the way. One of the orderlies told me that Sundays are a hit and miss in terms of busyness. My IV was done well. No problems with finding veins. CAT scan was performed quickly. The technician explained every step and what to expect, which was very helpful to me. The scan showed that I needed to be admitted. While waiting for a room they started me on antibiotics. I had a severe allergic reaction while I was alone and the nursing staff responded immediately when I called loudly. They fixed the problem quickly and again explained everything that was happening. Thank you, nurse Dan, for heading that response, and again thank you to nurse Stacy for telling me what to expect as it happened. Also I was apparently pressing the wrong button for help. Make sure you know which button is the one for help haha. When I was admitted I met Dr Yakubov. He is stoic in nature, but the fact that he listened intently to every detail in the back story to why I was there is important. There needs to be more doctors who listen well to their patients in the world. The nurses and assistants who tended to my care over two days were wonderful. Martha (sooo funny), Pat, Marie, Carole, Virginia, Olga, and Nadia were all great. Monica ("the angel") did my ECG so fast and taught me how to avoid blood clots. I also was seen by Jess (medical student) who listened to my entire saga, Dr. Bergman (ENT) who put me and my family even more at ease and who placed an excellent handmade ear wick without pain, Dr. Moore (intern) who saw me for what I think was an asthma attack, and my case manager Jean. Northwell One Health urgent care sent me here because they said I needed a sono of my leg for swelling. OMG. Ten hours! I never made it out of the waiting area into the actual ER because I was a low triage priority. They roll a computer in and make you give private info as you sit next to everyone in the waiting area. After like 6 hours I started visibly shaking from the air conditioning (anxiety too?). Nothing. They had plenty of time to look at there cell phone though. I did not hear from even a nurse for hours. I told them I had no accident or injury but they insisted on x ray which went fast. I had to convince the nurse a sono was in order. That took 7.5 hours to happen and another 2 hours to be read. They have no radiologist on site. Some guy at home reads your scans. So I sat in a crap chair with no ability to raise my swollen leg next to 16 other people for 10 hours. Nobody at any time asked how I was doing or if they could help make me more comfortable. I had not issue with kids who came after me being seen first and no issue with more serious cases going first. Missed my time to take my blood thinner by hours and my possible condition potentially got worse. Finally released with no real explanation of what was causing my issue and told heat not cold compress (the paper they gave me says both) and tylenol. If you are driving yourself to an ER try South Nassau or Winthrop for their affiliation w Mt. Sinai and NYU. Northwell has become a mill. read more

I can't say enough good things about this hospital. I was admitted for outpatient surgery and every single staff member that I came into contact with treated me with care, concern and respect. I was very emotional and they treated me with so much compassion that it really helped to ease my fears. I'll never forget my pre-op nurse Erin who really helped to make a terrible da more bearable for me. My operating doctor, Dr. Spence and my anesthesiologist, Dr. Behrens were equally wonderful. The neurologist on staff was incredibly rude and offensive to my mother who was being evaluated. He repeatedly called her sweetheart and sweetie, and he was very dismissive of her. The dr had an attitude the entire time that suggested she was exaggerating her symptoms. Though it was clear he failed to understand the timeline over which her symptoms appeared, he would not listen when either of us corrected his misassumptions. I am still not convinced she received quality care and I strongly believe she would have been taken more seriously if she were not a woman. And really, what could possibly posses him to believe it's okay to call a middle age woman he has never met before sweetie in 2017???? How about ma'am or Ms? It's not 1950 anymore and the doctor was young enough to know better. Next time I'll call him "sweetie"! Further, while I believe the staff was trying to be helpful (even if the doctor was a tool), it was shocking how poorly they treated the elderly woman in the other half of the room. Immediately upon entering the room, the woman nicely asked if she could use the bathroom. The staff told her that she would need to wait until after her scans because the hospital was busy and they needed to get her down there to meet their schedule. Upon returning over an hour later, she had still not been assisted to the bathroom. She asked different nurses over the next hour to help her to the bathroom and both told her they would be back to help her only to never return. When she was finally escorted to the bathroom over two hours after asking, the staff member who brought her proceeded to gaslight this woman by telling her that she had just arrived a few minutes ago. I will say though that in many small ways the hospital and staff seem to go out of their way to make the experience more pleasant. An incredibly nice "music therapist" came by about an hour after my mother was admitted and played a few songs for us on the guitar. He was very nice and we appreciated his efforts. The staff was also kind to us and gave us packets with sudoku puzzles to help us pass the time. These were small gestures but they meaningfully improved the experience. I would be leaving a four or five star review if not for the sexist doctor and the shameful way a few staff members treated an old lady who needed help. At the end of the day, these shortfalls in my mind were severe enough to undo the hospitals efforts in other areas read more

PLAINVIEW HOSPITAL ER - GO ELSEWHERE HORRIBLE. Charge nurse "COLETTE" was DISGUSTING, RUDE, & HORRIBLE to my mother who was there advocating for me. I was seen on 3/11/20 for severe abdominal pain, fever, and vomiting which had progressively worsened for 5 days, 2 weeks after IUD Paragard placement. I was seen this past Sunday 3/8/20 at CityMD who determined infection & started me on antibiotics. Upon arrival to PLAINVIEW HOSPITAL ER They ran some tests which indicated fluid accumulation outside of the uterine tissue & again, infection. They also identified very high levels of eosinophils, indicative of allergic reaction, likely to the copper in the IUD poisoning me from the inside. They hap-hazardly switched my antibiotic after about 10 hours of waiting. I was sent home with fever, severe abdominal pain, and throwing up. I repeat; discharged with a fever and throwing up on the way out the door. I was there through lunch & dinner, but was only offered a mini can of ginger-ale despite all testing being completed before the dinner cart came around. That evening, the vomiting and pain became worse. I felt as though I was going to die of sepsis. I returned to PLAINVIEW HOSPITAL ER on 3/12/20 for severe pain, continued vomiting, fever, and now dizziness & confusion. I was provided a room with fresh blood on the fitted sheet after about 2 hours of waiting in triage. The nurses response "do you want me to change the bed linen?". After I insisted that it be changed, the nurse drew my blood, which again showed infection. After about another 2 hours of waiting to be seen by the doctor, he told to go home & follow up with GYN which was a pre-scheduled appointment with the wrong information on it. The doctor's name had been switched with another doctor, and the address was inaccurate. While we waited in limbo, my mother called to confirm this appointment scheduled for tomorrow, 3/13/20. The office had no record of me scheduled to come in, and denied speaking with PLAINVIEW HOSPITAL ER in coordination of services. The most pathetic of all was PLAINVIEW HOSPITAL ER's reasoning to send me home; they have no OB-GYN able to come to the hospital, nor competent enough doctors in-house to perform an IUD removal at PLAINVIEW HOSPITAL ER (which was actually placed by a nurse at time of insertion). In the charge nurse COLETTE's words, an IUD causing such severe symptoms & infection was "not an emergency". I could not walk out to the pickup area due to such severe pain, vomiting, and dizziness. I passed out during removal of the saline IV drip, then began again vomiting. The nurses response "someone get a wheelchair to wheel her out". I was given a vomit bag & wheeled out to the pickup area, shaking in pain. I am 25, excellent health, no prior medical issues. I live an active lifestyle, I am an avid skier & scuba diver. I was not seen for an injured leg, or as an elderly adult. I was seen for severe abdominal pain. To be in such severe pain warranting full body shaking, low BP, dizziness, & inability to walk; there is clearly an issue. I WALKED INTO THIS HOSPITAL. For a NURSE to send someone who cannot walk out, worse than on arrival, is disgusting & NEGLIGENT. Their excuse; "this is a community hospital, we can't help you". I work in a community hospital also owned by Northwell Health. The staff that I work with would NEVER treat a patient or a patient family member like that. It was absolute negligence. 2 days wasted & infection worsening, but they "could not help" as "it is not an emergency". And to make matters worse, the staff have zero concern for HIPPA or patient privacy. They sent an elderly woman with a broken eye socket having zero memory recollection in the bed next to me home too, after asking her about her IUD removal. When she appeared confused & her family denied her having an IUD, the nurse stated "oh right that is the patient in bed A". Are you kidding me. Not only did they clearly confuse myself with her, but they humiliated me in front of several of her family members present & violated my HIPPA rights. Moral of the story; I guess the staff's operational definition of "emergency" only caters to certain populations. Women's health & elderly health is neglected. STAY AWAY. read more

Had a fairly good experience at this hospital, mostly because of caring staff members. Mike in pre-op, Lydia, night nurse in ICU, Claudene in post op/recovery were all especially wonderful, pleasant, professional, and caring. ICU staff almost all created an atmosphere very beneficial for healing by being pleasant to each other as well as to patients. Only real complaint was my room in ICU was directly across from a break room, so very noisy at night as staff gathered at door and chatted loudly at times. Once on surgery recovery floor, had some problems and confusion with pain medication. Had some needlessly painful hours due to this. Changes with medication need to be explained thoroughly. Some nurses were better with this than others. Have to mention, Bob, who is the very best nurse there! read more

I went in here for a procedure and was told to wear a hospital mask and clean my hands with sanitizer. OK. Then a woman came in with her child, who was having a procedure and both sat down next to me. The woman was not asked to wear a mask or use the hand sanitizer, ditto the child. The only reason I am giving the ED 5 stars is because of my nurse Steve and his nursing student Paige. I was very anxious and in a lot of pain. They treated my pain and validated my anxiety. Steve was really funny and got my mind off the pain for a few minutes. I was disappointed that I was leaving without knowing my cause of pain and he really tried to help calm me down. I know nurses have been through a lot these past few months and it meant a lot to me that he went out of his way to make me feel heard. 5 stars for Steve!!! Thank you!! read more

Although I had a nasty fall down some steps the other day the treatment I received was outstanding from beginning to end from this small but efficient gem of a hospital. The warm caring and compassionate staff could not have been nicer to me as well as the other patients who were receiving treatment around me. Every member of the staff made my comfort their top priority which nearly rendered my anxiety to a level of acceptable tolerability. I was hurt in a scary automobile accident by a driver who was speeding on 12/5/21. The most serious injury was head trauma. On arrival to the emergency department, I was feeling various negative emotions, shock and confusion. The doctor who attended me, Dr. Evan Meiner, stated he was a trauma doctor. He challenged me on almost every answer to the questions he asked from questioning my answer about me wearing my seatbelt, which I was wearing to challenging me about the time of the accident to telling me he could not dispense pain narcotics when I all I wanted was a high dose of Motrin. When I told him I should have just taken the Long Island Railroad as opposed to getting a ride in a friend's car, he told me that I could have come in contact with Covid on the train as if being in the emergency department after a traumitizing accident was better. I also alerted him that the accident triggered my PTSD, and I was not in a good mental state. Trauma doctors should be trained to treat patients with not only serious physical injuries, but they need to be more compassionate and caring about a patient's mental state after an accident that was of no fault of the patient. He was dismissive and invalidating and it made me very uncomfortable during my visit. I pray I never end up in this hospital again as there other problems with my visit. The only positive comment I could give is the nurses that attended me were caring and compassionate. I definitely do not recommend this hospital. read more

My adult son had been in a car accident. He was transported to Plainview hospital via ambulance to be checked due to airbag deployment, bleeding, possible broken/fractured hand & ankle. Once at the hospital, they wouldnt let me in, even though I had my own mask on, because they INSISTED I wear 1 of their from china blue masks, with no valid reason why that one was any better then mine, even though I pointed out it STATES ON THE BOX OF THOSE BLUE MASKS THEY WILL NOT STOP VIRUSes. So after forcing me to wear that mask we now had to wait in the waiting area. My son was FINALLY called in for extrays, or so I thought, he was gone for HOURS. While waiting in the waiting area, I witnessed a poor youngman DOUBLED OVER IN PAIN wait for hours for any help at all. Thenthey wheeled in a woman MOANING & PUKING into a bag. There were others as well all waiting for HOURS. I went outside for awhile because it was all so horrible to witness & God only knows what that woman had. All I could think was they now exposed EVERYONE in that room to whatever this woman had. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO PATIENT RIGHTS. IR PATIENT DIGNITY? OR PRIVACY? OR CARING? I finally went back in 3 & 1/2 hours now & had to ask where my son was. Finally found him just lying in a hallway. They never exrayed his ankle. Just his hand. We waited more. Workers sitting in front of computers. Nobody bothers to talk to you or help you. It was HORRENDOUS. Finally the doctor came over said he thought my sons ankle should be exrayed, we both looked each other like NO SHIT, but we were FED UP AT THAT POINT. WHY HADNT THIS BEEN DONE HOURS AGO. Then we left after doctor told us nurse would give us discharge papers & we waited a few minutes then said screw this. He got 1 exray of his hand, nothing for pain, no exray of his ankle. THIS PLACE IS A BAD JOKE. PEOPLE TREATED LIKE CATTLE & NO CARING, HOURS LONG WAITING FOR NO HELP. He is going to pursue help elsewhere. Oh & workers kept complaining how busy they were. They were not! DONT GO THERE!! read more

I wish i could give ZERO stars to the ER department of Plainview Hospital. My daughter drove me there after the most excruciating abdominal pain I have ever experienced in my 52 years. The pain was so intense I vomited on the way to the hospital and was going in and out of consciousness. In hindsight we should have called 911 but we live only a few blocks from the hospital. We got there around 10AM and when we walked through the ER doors I could hardly stand from the pain. I fell to the floor crying and they just looked at me as my daughter pleaded with anyone to please help! While everyone watched and did nothing, one woman behind the counter yelled "what's wrong with her?" my daughter explained we weren't sure what was causing the sudden pain but that I needed immediate help. The woman proceeded to yell questions from her chair behind the wall while I was writhing in pain on the floor. Not one person who worked there offered to help me to a chair, not one person asked me for my name or if I was ok. Never in my life have I ever felt like I did on the floor of that ER. They treated me worse than a stray dog. I saw the nurse from the triage room lean back in her chair to take a look at me on the floor and then scoot herself back in to her desk. That's how the ER staff treated me, like a piece of trash. I dragged myself up the wall off the floor and told my daughter to take me out of there and drive to another hospital. It was only then when I was leaving did someone come over and ask if I needed a wheelchair. I told them to give my daughter back my license and that I would never step foot in that hospital again. The woman behind the counter yelled "well we're very busy today with other patients so it's up to you". I have a very high tolerance for pain so for me to ask my daughter to drive me to the ER, I knew I was in bad shape and something was seriously wrong. I walked out of the ER knowing full well I needed emergency care but would not go back inside. I fell three more times in the parking lot going to our car. Everyone in the ER department saw me fall and yet they did nothing as my daughter tried to help me to the car. She called 911 on our way home and I was taken to another hospital by ambulance. My daughter explained what happened to us at Plainview Hospital to the police officers who came with the ambulance and instructed them to take me to Syosset Hospital. The staff at Syosset Hospital were wonderful. I was seen immediately and given something for the pain. Unfortunately, I will need surgery for possible endometrial cancer, but I hope anyone who reads this review will think twice before you go to the ER at Plainview. You're better off going to an urgent care center or better yet, your local veterinarian, chances are you'll be treated more like a human being than at Plainview Hospital. read more

My husband was admitted through the ER for a foot infection. He was put in a room that should have been a single that had 2 beds. He had surgery to amputate part of his big toe the following day. He was encouraged to "get up and move around" after the first 24 hours. He needed a walker to get to the bathroom. He was told by the staff that there were not enough walkers and he would have to share. Not with his roommate. The walker was removed and shared with a person in another room! He had to call and ask for the walker every time he got up. His medication list did not follow him from the wound care center. He is in pain management and is on regular pain medication. He was denied pain medication for nearly 48 hours until they could confirm his dosage. Northwell Health is well on their way to becoming a monopoly in health care on Long Island. This is a poor example of quality health care. read more

Plainview Hospital right from ER they treated their patients with respect of course as a patient you have to understand ER will always be crowded and very busy. I wind up having an open appendoctomy luckily my surgeon Dr Jonathan Klonsky very down to earth human, his the best doctor I've ever met . I was in Plainview Hostipal for 10'days and iI've a lot of nurses (male and female) and assistant nurses who are on duty for me, they all very kind, gentle and very attentive. I have a very good comfortable wonderful experience in Plainview Hospital. read more

Joan T...who's paying you to write this review...spent two nights on the 3rd floor with pneumonia ...thought I was going to lose my mind...filthy...inattentive...etc. etc.....what I experienced was so very much what other reviewers wrote ...it is kind of ironic that you should eave this absolutely stellar care that no one else seems to have gotten. Still feeling pretty poorly but as soon as I get my energy back I'm going to persue what ever avenue s there are to make it know to appreciate authorities how disgusting this place is!!!! read more

i would like to take my time to review plainview hospital. i was admitted on tuesday night to induce my labor, and to be honest when we pulled up to this hospital i was disappointed because i was supposed to deliver in manhasset.. and it was tiny and looked run down compared to north shore manhasset. we walked in and went straight to the admission office. the lady over there wasn't the nicest person, but after she escorted us to the maternity ward man... things were DIFFERENT. the TLC over here is beyond crazy. and that's what you need esp. when you're going through labor. the nurses here genuinely care for your needs, and they are there for you. i was at the hospital for 7 days, 6 nights... and was in labor from tuesday - friday, and even though i was in pain the nurses just made my stay so much easier. in the end i had to get an emergency c-section, and everyone was so caring... all of them know your name, and what your situation is, and they try to be as accommodating as possible. it is a small hospital.. there's only 3 labor & delivery rooms, and maybe 12 postpartum rooms but usually it's not full so they try to give the patient their own rooms. if not there are private rooms available but it's first come first serve. at first we were in a "regular" room but we had to share the bathroom so we asked if we can get a private room, and we were transferred that night to a private room. it was much smaller but it was at the end of the hall so it was quiet and we weren't bothered. they also have a breakfast buffet every morning from 730-830 mon-fri for you and your significant other which is really tasty. they also give you this "rendezvous dinner" on your last night's stay which consists of salad, cocktail shrimp, a ny strip steak, and cheesecake for two- which is DELICIOUS! keep in mind that i love food, and their hospital food was pretty good. i've been to manhasset for monitoring and the process was supposed to take 2 hours, but we were literally there for about 7 hours because they were so busy. and we were greeted by different nurses and it was just too hectic. yea manhasset and LIJ have the new renovated maternity ward, but i'd rather have the attention and the special care that i need than staying in a "nice room". stay at plainview.. you won't regret it. read more

I would rather die than go to this hospital. Horrible, horrible people! Why is it that my deceased father's belongings were returned to me 4 months later by another person who lost their family member? I mean are you that lazy and careless that you don't even look inside a damn wallet to see the name?? Not only a wallet but MEDICATIONS with a name on it as well. You people are just handing belongings out, including prescribed medications to all the wrong people. I smell multiple HIPPA violations coming your way. Where is your compassion?? Imagine finally having the courage to go through a bag of your family members belongings only to see that they aren't even their belongings?? Or imagine being me for instance, waiting months and months to hear back from the hospital wondering what happened to your fathers stuff??? Definitely will be looking into all of this. You are so careless with items I can't even imagine how careless you are with our loved ones. Most definitely will be hearing from my lawyer on multiple counts and violations. This place should be investigated for all their UNNECESSARY "covid deaths" aka government payouts. read more

When you first walk in to the visiting/ waiting area they have a hand sanitizer to create the illusion that it is a clean hospital. At the desk upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice elderly gentleman and the waiting room was clean and pleasant and there was a gift shop in the lobby. But this is where the pleasantness ends. We went here during the snow storm and happened to have 2 friends in the ICU. For both patients they did not do the standard basic tests expected of a hospital in their circumstances. One patient was my close friend who was the maid of honor at our wedding. I have had the misfortune of knowing what to expect from a hospital having been to hospitals in Manhattan and LI. The guy we know in this hospital is a friend of my husband's. He is still there and it has been a matter of not doing the standard tests. It may be a matter of the hospital thinking they are saving money but it ends up costing them more in the long run by doing unnecessary testing. Now the guy has complications from the tests and procedures they did do. The family believes the procedures were pretty straight forward and should not have had any complications. As you walk into the ICU and we have been there twice, it smells of poo. I could not stay that long the smell was so bad. I would not want to be the one to have to clean it up. But I know there is someone assigned to do so that obviously was not cleaning the ICU. My friends life was saved but only after 24 agonizing hours of misdiagnosis. Her stitches look like Dr. Frankenstein put them in. The nurses did not seem to care and did not have pleasant demeanor's. I understand that it is a university hospital but many of the employees seemed older and should have known better. In other words they were not students. I would not want someone I care about going to this hospital again. But 3 stars for saving her life. read more

Easily the best hospital on Long Island. The staff here is unbelievably and only wants you to be comfortable! I came here for severe stomach pains and within five minutes I was in a bed with one nurse putting hot blankets on me while another put on my hospital socks. The Doctors were all fantastic and got me on my way very quickly. I wont go any where else! read more

I had to go to the emergency room Saturday morning around 1am for a Kidney Stone. And I was operated on in a couple of hours after getting CAT scan. The doctor,Haberman, Jeffery (MD), Urology was great and he was there at 4am with his great staff to do the surgery. I was moved up to my room with great nurses and a team that took care of me non stop. It was an unfortunate event but I was blessed with the Hospital team and doctors and nurses.Thank you all for your caring and your service! Hayk O. read more
