If you want malpractices and this place to harm you definitely go here, it's all about filling the beds, if you question what they do to you and advocate for yourself they'll try to give you a Xanax to keep you quiet! Went today for an appointment. Every single person from the security , front desk , nurses, and doctors were so sweet and kind to me . This review is in reference to the emergence care and lack of it along with the fact that these staff personnel need more teaching and review of how to put in and take out I.V. s. None, especlally, Normal or large veins should not be a problem to access correctly. They should not punch through and cause hematomas and leave hard bumps to have to put warm compresses on later for the body to eventaully dispurse and heal. When taken out these assistance should be able to see that blood is running down the arm, wipe it and place a pressure bandage and or wrap around it instead of leaving an open obvious crevice to send the patient home with. This is supposed to be staff trained medical personnel. It is basic stuff that repeated experiences have seen similar results. The current IVs do not insert a needle but instead a clear tube that should be able to be not only inserted but taken out properly. On a non fast pace quieter night, I am sure patients would appreciate timely help in comfort as in needed adjustments of the guirnies. At least one nurse/aide did direct and offer warm blankets. I'd say; request someone who knows how to do these proceedures. However; Its a toss up even then of who one gets and how capable they are at it. Patient Rights !!! Ha! There even is a card with extentions on it. Do the phone operators know where to send the call? Not in my experience. Make a complaint get an appology, a thank you for bringing it to their attention, so that others will have a better experience, a phone call, a contact person (no extention) and again try to call - the operator still cant figure out where and who to send the call to even though the name is literally spelled out. As for ratings - why 2 stars - (not 1) It is Emergency and Staff is there to stablize and treat patients as they come in, a much needed service. read more

This past Friday on December 22, I had another routine colonoscopy at Plainview Hospital. (previous one was in 2018 there too) From the moment that I walked through the door, I was treated so nicely, so professionally! Starting with Admitting Dept, the gentleman who helped me give needed info for his computer, was quick, accurate and soft spoken. He soon escorted me to the ambulatory area for the colonoscopy that took place about 1 hr later. (I apologize if I miss a few names!) Everyone on staff, there was extremely friendly, helpful, patient, and funny too! Lisa, Janice, Maureen, David, Dr Fleischman, my MD Dr. Sayedy, etc, could not have been more wonderful! The Dr who I saw in the emergency room couldn't care less about me, acted like what is she supposed to do with her eye rolls. No blood or urine test were ordered just swabs. No one took my temperature or blood pressure, only in intake and it was 175/100. Dr kept asking me what do I want for the pain, like I was there only for drugs. Never saw a nurse only at discharge. Aside from this hospital doing x rays after my car accident and telling me I was just banged up and sore, neglecting to inform me that my collarbone wasn't attached and therefore I had no idea until it got incredibly painful and scar tissue had built up and the surgery was difficult... I'll leave that in the past and move on to the next. My father has been in that hospital for over a week, due to being sent there from wound care. We told the doctor multiple times that he was scheduled for an angiogram with the cardiologist that we had to cancel bc he got admitted to the hospital, and had blockages in his legs. Four days in, when I asked if they were going to do that there, or what, the nurse told me verbatim "oh I don't think the staff knows about that..." with a blank stare. Additionally, he had a full body rash that they immediately said was scabies. The man doesn't leave his house, hasn't driven anywhere in months, and my mother has been physically washing him, and dressing the wounds on his legs. How did she not catch scabies? Or anyone else in the family he has come into contact with? I asked about diagnostics. None were performed. No skin scrape, no tape test, no cytology. He was just left in a room to rot. They gave him ivermectin for the "scabies", but it did not improve. Maybe it was time for a diagnostic test? But who am I? Still haven't cleared the blockages in his legs, nor have they even mentioned what the next steps are for that. What they DID do, was give him lots of narcotic pain medication, and decide he should go home. No diagnosis, nothing. You can't speak to the nurses or doctor, they're always busy. I am the practice manager of a hospital and I'll be damned if we treat our patients this way. Lastly, the nurses, with the exception of ONE, have been extremely nasty and rude to us when we come see him. From day one, they YELLED at us about putting PPE on, yet we had no idea about the supposed "scabies", because (shocker) nobody communicates and we can't get answers. I have been telling my family since 2007, I wouldn't bring my worst enemy to this hospital. Being taken over by Northwell didn't do a positive thing. I'd like to be contacted by someone in the medical quality department, since I'm tired of calling and being told to call back later, every single time, at which time I will let them know that in the event that this rash is diagnosed as NOT being scabies, and I find out that he was left sitting there untreated with no concrete diagnosis for 2 weeks, and had something else that went untreated, there will be legal action. read more

from the ER to my final release, everything at Plainview Hospital was amazing. Other than being sick, it was truly outstanding. The food was exceptional and if you call down to talk to the staff there, they'll make you pretty much anything they're capable of and it was delicious. The nurses, the doctors, the tech staff, outstanding, helpful and kind. They explained everything to me and always came with a smile when I rang for help. as far as Hospital goes, it was exceptionally clean. I'm a ocd germ person, and I felt very safe being there and I watched them come in and clean the room the bathroom, several times a day. The Halls were clean and organized. When I had my test done the MRI room, the CAT scan room were all pristine, clean. The other experiences I've had in my life whether it was myself or family member in the hospital or nowhere near as pleasant and it's comfortable as this if you live on Long Island and you have the time to drive it's worth driving a few extra miles to go to Plainview Hospital, I was there for three full days and I wanted for nothing other than to get better and they made me get better. Dr fiorenti truly just sucked my whole visit he rushed me out of the ER telling me he had a more important patient to treat and that the nurse would come help me. He refused to help me wash my finger that is infected in which the nail needed to come out. He refused to take my nail out stating he would have to jam it back in, never heard of such a thing. Didn't even want to numb it to help me cut it down telling me that I should just cut it at home. I just arrived home from the Plainview Hospital Emergency Dept where I was treated for a bad fall in which I hit my head sharply on the corner of a chest of drawers. I am 90 years old so an ER visit seemed prudent. My daughter, a retired RN from a major hospital accompanied me. I have been to many ERs In my day and so has my daughter. From the moment we stepped inside the door until we were discharged, we were treated with the utmost care and concern from every single staff member we encountered. She and I both were amazed at the kindness and interest showed to me at every step of the visit. And now that I am at home, I am once again amazed by the poor reviews of Plainview ER that I just now read on this website. I thought perhaps I had the wrong Plainview Hospital! We were shown into a room five minutes after we got there. and not more than five minutes later, Nicole, a PA, was examining me. Ten minutes later Dr. Cusamano (sp?) appeared and did another thorough exam. She arranged CT scans for me and fifteen minutes later the CT crew came to the room apologizing for the wait!! Cut to the end. After the CT scans were competed we waited in the room for the results. All good news. An hour and a half ----2:30 pm to 4:00pm----that's all. Amazed once again---- and really a lovely way to spend some time with several friendly, laughing and caring staff members of Plainview ER. Thank you, thank you, thank you. read more

I went to the emergency room for severe stomach pain and fever. I waited in the waiting room for 3+ hours and never got to a stretcher. I finally went home at 10 pm and was told, "sorry". I can't believe the negative reviews I've read about this hospital. I couldn't disagree any more with what was written. First I want to briefly summarize my previous experiences here over the past year and a half. My husband has been admitted to this hospital several times. Each time he has needed steroid infusions while suffering from MS and NMO. Each time he was admitted, it was on the first floor and even though the hospital was going through some remodeling we did not feel like the place was filthy or unclean in any way (and my husband should know, he is a former custodian). The nurses and staff were extremely attentive and very friendly. He has also been to other hospitals within the system and felt like he has received the most attention and care at this hospital. Over the past weekend, I had to go to the emergency room as I had a gallbladder attack. The ER took me in and assessed me right away. The ER doctor wanted to send me home but gave me the option of seeing a specialist. This is where I have to say, not all doctors are perfect/know everything. You have to do your due diligence when it comes to your health or your loved ones health. That being said I insisted on seeing the specialist and they agreed to take my gallbladder out. Once the decision was made they made sure to clear it with several doctors due to my medical history. All the doctors I met with were knowledgeable and well informed on my past. After my surgery I was sent to the second floor for post op. I was given my very own room. The nurses was very nice and made sure to check on me even when I didn't call for them. When I did call for them it didn't take more than a few moments to see what I needed. All nurses made sure to explain the "5 P's" to me. This is a system to ensure that all patients are comfortable and understand what they are entitled too as patients. The following day, both doctors (the cardiologist and the doctor who operated on me) came in and explained everything thoroughly to me. Once I spoke with them I was able to be discharged. Discharging from hospitals can usually take hours. I was out of there within the hour and was even given the option of getting a transporter to help discharge me which I happily accepted. read more

I've had many problems with the hospital over the years. Most centering on me being listed as a contact person for a relative. I have told them multiple times over many years to remove me from the contact list, but they have not done so. I haven't checked lately, but did receive a call recently from them about him so assume that either they didn't update their info or someone there was looking at some old forms. During some of those contacts the nurse on the other end seemed to care more about getting someone to pick up the patient than anything else and didn't mind resorting to attempting to guilt me into picking up someone who I am not supposed to be a contact for, asking personal questions (including financial), etc. Level of care at the hospital seems mixed. I've seen some good care and some pretty bad care there. read more

Then, I sat in a room with 6 others for 3 hrs with no medical assistance at all. I got up and left. Should have stayed home. They want their money, though as they checked my vitals. As I was waiting for my results I could hear the nurses at the desk talking badly about other coworkers, other patients and then myself. I even had one of the nurses wishing ill on me because I traveled out of state regardless of how I wore 2 masks and made them aware as soon as I walked in that I had been out of state and did everything following covid regulations while I was away. I have had terrible experiences with this hospital. My father was hospitalized here after suffering another DVT and had severe Raynaud's. Hid "doctor" here was awful................so awful, that I even paid for copies of all my dad's medical records to see what was written. I found that my dad was discharged, without being appropriately anti coagulated with an adequate bridge between low dose molecular heparin and coumadin, and was even though his coagulation labs still showed that he wasn't ready to stop the low dose molecular heparin, he was discharged anyway. The doctor didn't even show up to give discharge instructions, though my parents waited for him...........instead someone "else" filled in, and my dad's doctor, who my parents were waiting for, never showed up. As far as the Raynaud's which wasn't responding to the meds my dad was on, as his hands stayed continuously blue and extremely painful, the doctor said nothing else could be done. Wrong again............he could have just opened a book on basic principals of Internal Medicine. It ended up that my dad's fingers turned black and necrosed. There were so many deficiencies in his care, at the hands of the doctor appointed to care for him, that the details are too much to write, but quite horrific. When I tried to speak with this attending physician, he screamed at me like a wild maniac............it was hard to believe. Never did we want my father followed to see this doctor again, after his inappropriate treatment and too early discharge. We had to find another internist in a hurry, but unfortunately in was too late for her to be able to do anything..........there was such negligence here and precious wasted time. The doctor seemed to care less about trying to make a very ill patient more comfortable, by not having adequate knowledge of other meds to add on, and just ignoring several very important issues. I really have nothing to good to say............and unfortunately it is based on the poor attending that my dad was assigned to. This doctor seemed to care more about his Christmas vacation, than adequately treating a very ill patient. The entire experience was a disaster, and as I already said, I ordered copies of my father's medical records, to see just what was or wasn't done. To be treated like this is an absolute horror. Absolutely no empathy on the doctor's part, little research, or to just open a book about added therapies available seemed too much for him. 3 stars for the Doctors. When you are in pain you really don't want to talk finance and you want to be evaluated a little. Also when I go to the ER I don't want to be there. It means something really bad is going on. Your staff besides the doctors show zero sympathy. If I wasn't in so much pain I'd have really been mad. I was a patent at Plainview Hospital for 10 days in March 2021. I had vertigo. I received this diagnosis after a C-Scan, 2 MRIs- with contrast & without contrast. The radiologist assistants were excellent. They use a sheet to lift you from stretcher to the table & back again. The reason for the sheet is Covid precaution. After a patient's use, it is put into a laundry bin. It Is somewhat scary. Two assistants are needed to swing you onto the table while you are in the sheet. It is better to be scared but safe! I have nothing but praise for the doctors who came in everyday to keep me informed and kid around. I had a neurologist who was in every weekday to inform me about vertigo and do tests. He is Dr. R. Bachawn . I am writing his name as I heard it. Dr. B's associate came in on the weekends. Dr. Matura, an internist, was fantastic. He takes his time, explains what is happening, compassionate, warm and a good sense of humor. All of the nurses and the nurse assistants on 1 East were beyond phenomenal. They work 12 hour shifts! DR. Scarantino is wonderful, he delivered my daughter via high risk c section with severely large fibroids in 2019. He saved my life. I came to Plainview Hospital to have the fibroids removed a couple days ago by him and most of the nurses are very rude and they don't give you a menu to choose your food. I was given food I don't like normally. I can't stand cheese, they gave me cheese pasta for lunch and I don't eat yogurt and that was my breakfast besides the pancakes which were very good. I can't have caffeine because they aggravate my fibroids and give me extreme anxiety but they brought me caffeinated coffee and tea. I did get lucky with 2 very sweet nurses who constantly checked on me and made sure I had everything I needed and was comfortable. I wouldn't choose to ever come back to this hospital. read more

I came in this morning for an endoscopy. I was really nervous and all. I was treated extremely well by everyone from the first nurse to the last. They explained everything in detail to me and took my clothes and put them in a locker and i got a gown and socks. Very hot. Then i was given IV fluids and made comfortable. Then i had the procedure and the next thing i knew i was in the recovery room. It was a wonderful experience during a trying time Thank you all. read more

I had to hv emergency surgery for an incarcerated hernia. After surgury I was placed in room 211E. I want to let u know that the people who helped me thru the days I was recovering were so professional. . They were there when I neeed medication, going to the bathroom, helping me with whatever I needed & they did it with a smile. I didn't hv to wait a half an hour for them to answer my call buttom, they were there immediately. They checked on me to see if I was confortable or if I needed anything. I walked into an ER for kidney infection and the staff here is great. Very professional and friendly. My nurse is amazing. He really knew what he was doing and made me feel so comfortable. Thanks Robert!!! The only thing is I had to do a CAT scan, blood and urine test but everything came out normal. I still have a migraine and stomach pain all the way to my back and they said everyting came out normal so I can go home. I mean...hello? I came here for a reason and running through some test doesn't resolve the problem here. I feel like I wasted my whole day for nothing with no food or drink. I am home now taking pain killer for my migraine and stomach pain lying on my bed but if it continues I will have to see a specialist who can diagnose my symtoms. read more

First time as a patient at this Northwell hospital. It was 10 min from my home, I had a sinus surgery performed yesterday by dr shah super nice and gently to say the least even though I was knocked out. Hospital was spotless. The waiting room didn't even give off a hospital vibe., security was very nice and all the hospital staff were very friendly and attentive. They put me in a wing on the second floor, was very quiet didn't want to jinx it though haha. My nurses were super nice, Pam from massapequa and I forgot her sidekicks name all i remember she was from Staten Island but they were with me the entire time made sure I felt comfortable even though I came off not really wanting to be there ! When I woke up they were sitting there waiting for me in recovery. Super helpful and thorough explaining everything to my boyfriend. I hope I'm never in the hospital again other than to deliver a child but I would 100% recommend plainview. read more

My mother suffers from MS and she felt I'll on Thursday night. When the ambulance from the Melville Fire Dept. Arrived they refused to take her to Huntington Hospital even though people living in her community have a choice to either go to Huntington or to Plainview Hospital. I arrived at the place about an hour after my mom was taken there and they told me she was going home, "she is fine" they said, but I knew she wasn't and I implored the ambulance driver to take her to Huntington hospital ostead of home. She has a URINARY TRACT INFECTION and would have gone home to either suffer some more without treatment or to die of sepsis!!! Don't go to this hospital they don't care about you and are totally incompetent read more

My 88 year old mother was taken to this hospital by ambulance from her assisted living facility. So far, my opinion of the place is very low. Some nurses are nice but about half are rude and act as though they are unhappy to be there and don't want to work. The patient in the next bed needed an EKG. The nurse who was told to do the EKG said that she didn't know how to use the machine. This same nurse was later asked to help steer my mother's bed when they moved her to her room. The nurse said that she didn't know how to. It was obvious that she was not there to work. I was there for several hours and was required to where a mask while in the building. When I went back the next day I wore the mask again, but this time I was told that I needed to show proof of vaccination to be allowed to visit my mother. No signs were posted stating this requirement. This is September 2022. The pandemic is in the past. A vaccine requirement at this point in time to visit a family member is ridiculous! I had driven an hour to get there and wasn't allowed in. Their solution was that I drive down to a local clinic to get a covid test with a negative result. Then I would be allowed in. I went home. My brother went in after I left and found that they hadn't served my mother any dinner. When he asked the nurse about it, she said dinner was already served. He told her "I think my mom would know if she was served dinner". It seems as though you have to ask for everything or you won't get anything. They did bring her food after his request. In general the place looks run down, old and not very clean. As soon as she is able, I'll be pulling her out. read more
