It's hard to review a hospital since the quality of care depends on who is there and your state of mind. On Friday I took my father to the cardiologist and he found water in his lungs. He said he had to immediately go to the hospital to get it drained and he recommended I go to St. Francis. My father being stubborn refused any hospital visit at first but finally we got him to go. When we drove into the parking lot I thought I would walk my father to the ER but the walk was too much. A staff exiting noticed us and helped us into the nearest entrance which was not the ER. He got us a wheelchair and even wheeled us to the ER. That was very nice of him considering he was on his way out. At the ER the triage nurse took a look at the cardiologist's papers and listened to the story while examining my father. They were patient with him even though he was getting cantankerous. The whole process took 20 to 30 minutes and we were let into the ER. My father was placed in a bed in the hallway. There were lots of beds in the hallway. They looked very busy. A doctor came and examined my father and ordered a chest X-ray and blood tests. The nurse expertly inserted a needle in, drew blood and left a space for the IV to go in the future. My father was not happy about the needle but they were reassuring to him. They gave me a chair and we waited. An X-ray machine came to us and they did a chest x-ray right at the bedside. The doctor came and said that the water was not in his lungs but around. She prescribed some strong intravenous diuretic. When he had to go to the bathroom, he refused to use the urinal so they used this contraption I've never seen before that wheels him to the bathroom and allows him to sit on the toilet. He had to go every 2 hours and was pretty demanding. But they stopped what they were doing to help me get him to the bathroom. They gave me a chair to sit next to him. They asked if I wanted anything. He was admitted but there was no room so we waited. A cardiologist came and patiently explained what was wrong (he has afib) and his options. He's stubborn so a pacemaker was out so the doctor prescribed him a beta blocker. I ask for food for him the first night but it never came which was one of the few complaints I had. I asked several times but I never got any menu for him till the afternoon of the next day. I managed to get him dinner, and breakfast. The food is probably the best hospital food I've seen. It is however tasteless (no salt because of people with high blood pressure. Finally, on Sunday we were discharged and we managed to get lunch before we left. They took care of everything and the process was smooth. Overall it was a good hospital with good people trying to give the patients the best care.

A distracted driver hit my vehicle yesterday in Queens after I was driving home from my birthday party in Greenwich Village. He said that he was looking at his cell phone's GPS when he rear ended me. My auto insurance company implored me to visit an ER within three days even if I am feeling well. I chose St. Francis after reading Yelp friend Frank T's terrific review. This hospital is part of the Catholic Health Services network for which my primary care doctor is a provider, so I did not need to provide staff any information about me. They already had it on file. The triage nurse was skillful and determined that I did not sustain serious injuries. The ER doc thoroughly assessed me and gave me a clean bill of health. ER parking is all the way in the back in designated spaces. I was Blessed to find one. I was also Blessed to visit this ER. I was out in less than one hour.

Less land less star every single time I come here, lol. Today I guess the reception lady has a bad day so she is not nice and welcome at all. Only thing she knows is 'NO' another person, she is nice and the crazy one cursed her out because she is too nice to visitors. Most visitors are patient's family, they always sad and worried. Why the hospital put a mean person to work at the check in desk and make visitors more stressed.

Brenda, I doubt you'll ever see this review, but you truly made the experience special. You were informative, welcoming, and made sure everyone understood exactly what to expect and where to go when the big day arrives. My partner and I were actually the only people on the tour who already had children, while everyone else were first-time moms and dads. It turned into such a nice experience because some of the other parents even came to us with questions or for advice whenever Brenda stepped away for a moment. It created a very supportive atmosphere. During the tour, we got to see the labor and delivery area, as well as the postpartum rooms. We also happened to see a new mom walking through the hallway with her newborn, which was such a sweet and special moment. Another nice touch was seeing the statistics for how many baby boys, baby girls, and twins had been delivered there this year. The tour was extremely informative and really helped ease any confusion about where to go and what to expect on delivery day. The hospital renovations also look great everything feels updated and well maintained.

They kept me 4 days and I had to get a bit assertive to get released when I did. The worst part of the situation was the roommate that I shared my room with. They had visitors from 7:30 AM until 6pm daily, who talked out loud on their phones, had loud conversations throughout the day, and went to my (the patients) bathroom every 10-15 minutes for 10 hours daily. I was basically bothered and they had no clue of their rudeness. My treatment was carefully monitored and planned throughout and the physician team personally informed me about visited me throughout my stay. The RN staff and physicians worked well together and did their homework. The food was horrible and a few of the staff were rude at times. The only thing that was annoying was when you refused a service, the RNs would kinda of take it personally. I have included screenshots of these communications for transparency. A hospital and its affiliated services should be a place where patients and families feel safe, respected, and protected from behavior that could be perceived as harassing or sexually suggestive. Knowing that someone in a hospital-affiliated role engaged in this type of conduct makes me deeply uncomfortable. I have family members who were also looking into this facility, and this experience has directly impacted my trust and willingness to recommend or engage with NewYork-Presbyterian's administrative and housing services. This review reflects my personal experience and is shared in the hope that hospital leadership takes concerns about professionalism, boundaries, and patient safety seriously.
