I would never go here again. There is a lack of care, unprofessional, liars etc.. I was in the ICU and the doctors aren't competent especially the lung doctors and admitting team. They do not treat you like a human being just something else that needs to be fixed.. NO COMPASSION... I was sent to another unit floor 2n and I had this nurse that only cared about her scents on her arm. Lashes falling off. So unprofessional. She never gave me my medication. This review is based solely on the ER experience. I brought an elderly family member in for a potentially serious issue. The waiting room was packed, and the person sitting next to us mentioned they had already been waiting over four hours. After two hours, we were moved to a tiny stall, where we waited another hour before seeing a doctor. From there, the delays continued. The initial tests took about an hour, another hour to get the results, and then yet another hour before a nurse came in to say additional testing was needed. You get the idea. We spent a total of 10 hours at the ER. I don't blame the individual staff members; although communication could be better, it's clear the real problem is systemic. There's no efficient process, not enough staff, and a lack of visible leadership. Honestly, I've had a more organized experience tracking an order at McDonald's. NY Presbyterian, this ER desperately needs strong leadership and operational improvements to fix what's clearly a very broken system. read more

I had to take my wife here for a minor procedure and it was a good experience. Parking was in a lot across the street and I was able to get it validated inside so there wasn't a charge. They also allow you to pull up and pick up someone but there's no standing so that has to be timed right. Everyone I dealt with inside was very nice and professional, from the nurses to the security staff. I don't live far and definitely one of the hospitals I would use in the future. read more

My mom fell was bleeding so called ambulance they took both my brother an her to New York-Presbyterian Queens Emergency Room. once there the staff started harassing my brother that he was in way and shortly afterwards made him leave about 10/27 11:45pm. The next morning 10/28 he called for an update and was stone walled, they do not want to give any information and you cannot speak to her or visit her. I went in person because this seems insane. I went and through a circus act of ever changing people with different answers. yet one thing remained consistent their incompetence and the fact that they would not yield any information, allow me to speak to my mother or visit her. Three times the head nurse was asked if I could visit as I came from another state answers ranged from too busy come back later, no visitors for your mother only and no visitors for anybody today. Since when do siblings not have a right to visit their mother in the hospital? Who do these people think they are? Do they know my mother and have been with her longer than we have? Do they know and care for her better than family, because they are doctors and nurses or some hospital institution or foundation? the next day 10/29 called for an update to my mother's condition and release date. the emergency room could not find her in the system. transferred to visitation department and they could not find her. asked her to search another way because she seemingly sounded like she was getting frustrated. she found her in a room i told her I want to visit and she transferred me to the nurse station on the floor. They asked for the patient's name and my name and relation, had the same trouble pulling up patient info, finally pulled up the information and informed me that nobody was allowed to visit her. I asked for clarification why? Answer you will have to ask her yourself. I answered well then let me talk to her. She replied, "You can call her". But she has no cell phone. Is there a phone in the room I could call, I replied. No, was the answer I received. I followed up with her. How do I talk to her? So there I was back in the circus. I asked to be escalated to her supervisor and was transferred to Tiffany,and she was well trained in avoidance and utterly useless as well. By the way they will not let you speak to the supposed Patient Advocate dept. neither. Look up how many complaints there are about: Lack of empathy, not good with geriatric care, uncleanliness of the facility. Search for yourself through Google, Yelp, Glassdoor, Indeed, etc. to see the horror show that has been going on for some time and continues to this day. Absolute shitshow. This place should be permanently closed down. Went in because of a tonsil stone today and waited for 5 HOURS. After finally being called in, they spent 5 minutes checking my throat and then decided to just give me some medicine. Well, this shouldn't take long right? WRONG. I waited another 45 minutes just so they could give finally give me something to treat my throat. Then, I go to the pharmacy to get my medicine and, of course, they mix up my fucking order (waited another 15 minutes...) Entire experience was extremely UNPROFESSIONAL! This review is for Non-Invasive Cardiology Department on the Second Floor. Have been here numerous time with family member who requires an echocardiogram every couple of months. Every technicians who has performed the echo are professional and takes great care of each patient coming into the practice. Due to COVID pandemic, we had to go elsewhere for an Echo several months ago. The hospital was only treating COVID cases. The entrance area to the hospital is exactly the same. Everyone goes to the front desk. They will check your temperature and give you a piece of paper about COVID. Security escorted us to the second floor. The layout has changed since we been here last year. Now, check in is done upstairs in the same area where you go for the Echo. In the past you had to register on the first floor before they send you up to the second floor to get the echo. Prefer to get all echocardiograms done at this facility for the technicians are professional, highly trained and with the latest equipment. read more

NYPHQ in my personal opinion is by far one of the best hospital in New York. The quality of care I've been getting is outstanding. The facilities are extremely clean, nurses, physicians and staff is well trained and knowledgeable. Every time I'd been to either an appointment or admitted I've been getting the best quality of care. The nurses, physicians, receptionist and medical technician are extremely respectful and compassionate with patients. I am a patient with many health issues, therefore I have seen several physicians. I'd never had any issues or bad experience with anyone in this hospital. I am saying this because I've always observed staff and patients interaction and I have noticed the level of respect and professionalism patients are being treated with. If you have nobody to care for you at home, make it known to your doctor and call Social Services a week ahead. I have been to NYPQ hospital countless times as a visitor throughout the years. This review is purely based on the hardworking staff that are true superhero angels that save lives and assist in life saving efforts. There are professional and highly trained medical professionals at this facility in their neurosurgical, ER, nephrology, and in-patient units in the North building. They follow all protocols, build diverse teams with multiple language proficiencies, and are able to communicate procedures over the phone. The ER used to be packed and filled to the brim with patients and sadly it seems to be patients who have recurring issues. Now during this time, I'm sort of content to see that the ER has few patients and every patient has their own room. I saw that they built a covid positive only unit next to the cafeteria when I was looking for a particular department. A family member lost their belongings and somehow three weeks later, three days after the initial report, David Y. from Patient Services personally handed me the belongings back. He remembers patients names and locations and he was there at those moments when you thought this was going to be it. I read the sign on the first floor that their covid saved count was over 1,500+ at this hospital but I'm sure the number is higher now. Keep saving lives NYPQ, the community is better because you exist. read more

I feel this hospital needs to work on its unconscious bias training. I get covid is an issue but there's still no need to be rude to the patients. My mother came here because she was having chest and back pain besides the horrible 3-hour wait and lacsidasical attitude from the nurses and doctors including one gem when my mother asked for a pillow and a sheet the doctor proceeded to tell her to "go to a hotel "if she needs those things. I later tried to call a patient advocate or whatever it was at that 718 number and the person basically told me" yeah I'm leaving in 15 minutes what is it?" I understand things are tough right now but there's no need to be rude and the long wait is unacceptable especially with a patient that's literally moaning in pain my mother is a tough Old School Haitian woman and this is literally brought me and her to tears. This review is for the ICU area in New York Presbyterian Hospital in Queens. This past Tuesday, August 4th, my Grandma was admitted in the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest. With the power outages after Tropical storm Isaias hit, this was unexpected, horrible news to receive. Yesterday, Friday, August 7th, my family and I came to visit. We were told by the individual outside the hospital only 1 person could visit my Grandma at the ICU per day. We were not aware of this and had to decide between the 5 of us who should go. After my parents decided I go to see her progress, I went through screen check and security. Going through the ICU floor, it was confusing which office to go to look for the nurses to check in, and another individual I reached out to help me through another hallway of double doors. From there I asked Nurse Jennifer about my Grandma's progress. She just came yesterday and was placed in my Grandma's care as I asked questions. When she left briefly, I asked Nurse Stephanie any additional questions. As I took the time to be with my Grandma who was unresponsive, I observed how well she was taken care of. All the questions I asked, both nurses were respectful, had great "bed side" manners, and made a first time individual like me not be so frantic but calm when I would speak to them. After I spent time talking to my Grandma, I asked Nurse Stephanie if it was possible if my Grandpa would go up because he had not seen my Grandma yet since she was admitted. Nurse Stephanie made a call and in a few minutes when I was about to leave, she said it was okay for my Grandpa to come. My Grandpa is very hard of hearing and my Mom was able to go with him to translate the English to Chinese. Nurse Stephanie was preparing to clean up my Grandma's face and her x-rays were about to be taken. Nurse Stephanie wanted to make my Grandma look good and make sure everything was clean before my Grandpa would come up. I know during these very difficult times, the staff is doing a lot I can imagine to require safety precautions to all patients and visitors. I wanted to thank Nurses Jennifer and Stephanie for their help. I know it took much hesitation to be able to get my Grandpa and Mom after I was swapped out. However, I was very relieved my Grandpa had this chance to see his wife and my Mom was able to translate. I never bumped into the doctor, but my Mom was able to and ask my Grandma's progress to the Doctor. Safety masks and shields were given, Purell hand sanitizer was reminded to be used if touching anything. As upset as this all happened and my heart is aching, I am thankful for the ICU and nurses Jennifer and Stephanie for making this possible. Thank you to the doctor on explaining to my Mom too. We are appreciative leaving this visit with more understanding than coming into the hospital yesterday. read more

Get to hospital day the operation have given sign off and they'ld takes my close and in walks a Pakistani or Indian guy about 25 year and tell me he's doing my surgery. The surgery was botched and I found out from GP they often do this on simple operations to give interns experience. STAY AWAY from NY Presbyterian for surgery. My wife Rosita had a pace maker installed at the NY Presbyterian Hospital's Cardio and vascular Center by Dr. Hua Yang. Needless to say, she was excellent, remarkable and went the extra miles to treat the patient family with utmost courtesy. Unfortunately, after the surgery was done, Rose was confined and was not allow to get out of bed even to go to the bath room but had to used a bed pan from 7:00 am the time she checked in to almost 4 p.m., when the monitor continued to show abnormal blood pressure. Perhaps because she was confined to bed and not allowed to get up and walk, at about 2:00 pm, when I got to the recovery room anticipating her discharged, her monitor started to beep because of abnormal blood pressure. And at about 4:00 pm, an attending Physician was called and she was given a thorough exam, and the attending Physician decided to keep her in the hospital for overnight for observation Something Rose was very afraid of. Needless to say, the decision to kept her overnight probably contribute more to her abnormal blood pressure. Because the monitor continued to beep non-stop. Then came along Jean Lee and Jenny Lai, two R/N. When I told Jean that Rose needs to go to the bathroom, without much ado, and hesitation, Jean started to remove all the wiring that hooked Rose up to the monitor and asked her to get from bed and walk her to the bathroom. After Rose return from her trip to the bathroom with Jean, her blood pressure started to normalize. Then from that time on, Jenny Lai, another R/N made her sit up in a chair instead of continued lying down in bed, and every so often would accompanied her to walk around. Because of the actions of Jean Lee and Jenny Lai, her abnormal blood pressure normalized. When Dr. Hua Yang came by around 5:30 pm to check on her , the abnormal blood pressure had disappeared. After conversing with Rose, when she continued to said she was fine, and prefers to go home. Dr. Yang decided to wait another 30 minutes for precautionary reason before rendering a decision. Half an hour later, the decision came down, and Rose was allowed to go home. Thus, I feel a review for what Jean Lee and Jenny Lai , the two R/Ns did, recognizing that she needs to get up and walk after a surgery was clearly the reason, for her abnormal blood pressure, and not dehydration nor anything else, had to be commented and deemed an absolute necessity ! Without the two R/Ns, Rose would probably have been kept overnight for observations. JEAN AND JENNY DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED! read more

My father is still in the emergency room waiting to be admitted after being promised by the patient advocate that he would be admitted. This place is a horrible zoo would be an insult to animals. They say that "amazing things are happening here." But does amazing things include being ignored when you ask for help to be taken to the bathroom, they make excuses not to help you by making the bed urinal. The excuse that I got was "I was on my break" from the nurse. Staff repeatedly walking past him and ignoring him. The ER is very small, it is not adequate spacing & staffing. New York Presbyterian Hospital of Queens doesn't prioritize patients by the severity of their illness. The nurses have the worst attitude, they shouldn't be a nurse. The hospital should prioritize patient services, bedside manners, humanistic care and relationship. Why would this hospital have a billboard saying that it was a top hospital if they can't provide basic patient care! This is NOT a hospital; this is a DISGRACE to Queens! If they want to prioritize immigrants,But even that would be an insult to Ellis Island because Shame on you, NY Presbyterian! You need to have better staff to care for your patients. They don't let anyone into the waiting room besides the patient. They Based it on how sick you look to them. I'm in the waiting room seeing everyone with their family chitchatting( not all of them are old people or children, adults too) and they don't look sick meanwhile I have a 103 fever and other pains for a whole week and they don't let my mom in with me. So I should go to emergency room immediately. And when I tell him what happened with me and what my primary doctor said, he said I'm not taking enough Tylenol, I'm just like wtf I take 6 pills of Tylenol a day for a week straight and you tell me it's not enough that's why the fever is not going away!!?? Wtf are you talking about you stupid ass mf. I also asked the guy who took my temperature before seeing the doctor for some Tylenol because at that moment my fever was 103 degrees and I was feeling super bad. Yesterday I had a surgery appointment with Dr. Litong Du. I got there 45 mins early as I was a bit nervous and didn't want to be late. The front desk security guided me to the Admissions Office first to go over my paperwork and signed some documents. She called and spoke to an OR Nurse by the name of Debbie at the Ambulatory Care Center W115 who had an available room. Debbie was friendly when I arrived there with my mom then another Chinese speaking nurse started my IV and I hate needles and she popped my cherry with sticking a needle on my hand because my veins are difficult to located on the bend of my arm. After I spoke with several people including Dr. Du, another OR Nurse Gina guided me to the cold ass Operating Room which is my first time seeing it in real life not from Grey's Anatomy. They added some meds in my IV to knock me. As I was slowly waking up, someone rolled me into the recovery room where another OR Nurse Stephanie took care of me and brought my mom over to me. She took my blood pressure and etc. Also gave me a cup of Cranberry Juice and cookies so I can gain back some energy. Thank you for making my visit to the hospital amazing! read more

Heading to the basement for my procedure, I'm stuck on the concept of going subterranean, theres something unsettling about this. Arriving an hour early, everyone involved in getting me checked in -- to discharging me -- each of the three dropped the appointment ball, among these were additional drops. Gown on and needle inserted into my arm, feeling ready too do this, get this done -- two Russian desk nurses (one was a heavily tatted dude) forgot about me. In a room about 6 feet DIRECTLY across from the front of their desk was my waiting area. A one third drawn curtain threw these two enough that when my required keeper for the day inquired -- Boris and Natasha thought my endoscopy was completed and I should be discharged. I threw the curtain wide open, fortunately they both came clean about their booboo. Gurneed into the procedures room, the medical team converged on me with comforting words and a jaw lock, cold and sticky pads -- and ultra considerate and thorough explanations too my many questions. As I started too snap out after being sedated, my doctor - - whom on a personal level is a kind and sincere gent -- was bed side to bring me back from LaLa Land. Apparently allz well and good in the tummy -- and with that it was immediately off to Dantes Pizza for three Grandma slices. ***I deserve a special dinner treat after fasting, being poked and prodded*** read more

Terrible hospital! Doctors, PAs and Nurses are decent, but ED techs, security are just awful! They allow one family member per pt in the ED. The family member has to stand as they don't provide chairs for the family member. There is no courtesy to patients or their family members. ED is like a zoo, patients are placed one top of each other, hallways, etc. there is no privacy, just all around terrible experience every time we come. I arrived in the ER on 6/18 about 7pm with severe head and neck pain, and I was unable to open my jaw. People who criticize the ER wait - what do you expect? It's Queens NYC not backroads Iowa... but yes, it's long - but they do move you as efficiently as possible. The nurses were wonderful - especially my nurse Diane, who I could overhear make even the most fearful of patients feel comfortable. She was so attentive and pleasant that I even felt calm when she gave me a muscle injection (which hurts). The MVP award goes to the radiologist who performed the CT of my head - I believe his name was Damion. I'm a cancer survivor and have had to do a lot of CT and MRIs on my abdomen - I'm so claustrophobic, but I'd rationalize "well at least it's not my head." Needless to say I was nervous. He did not rush me - explained everything .. even made me laugh - he literally held my hand and talked to me the whole time. It was a cake walk with him. He was truly extraordinary. The attending doctor was a nice guy - but only saw him for a few min. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 stars is because the young female doctor under the attending (I will not mention her name - she could just be a resident or just having a terrible day) was so incredibly lacking in bedside manner that she actually scared me a little. She was yelling at me to open my mouth wider so that she could examine my throat - but I couldn't ... my jaw was physically locked. She was even sarcastic with me - I said "it's like this whole area is stiff" and she rolled her eyes and said "yea I got it that you're stiff." She minimized my pain and made me feel stupid. However, she did give an incredibly impressive summary of my complicated symptoms and history to the attending doctor, so she is VERY competent... and that's more important than friendly I guess. There aren't a lot of good ER options in Queens, but this one is my choice for the future. -------------- Follow Up - turns out I had Lyme disease .. usually hard to detect but in my case a specialist caught it early and I tested positive for all Lyme markers and other blood tests (13 in total) ... so maybe that resident should not have been so judgy! We worked backwards and realized I had contracted it on a hike in Conn where my dogs got several ticks. The facial paralysis was part of symptom. read more

I have to say this was one of the worst ER I've ever been to. I am having a miscarriage and they had me waiting in the ER for over 4 hours. I was in so much pain and bleeding. I had to leave and go to another ER with the fear of something bad happening to me. I'm so disappointed in this place. They should do better! read more

Don't go! They dump you in the emergency room for days. They claim they have no rooms. The least they can do is give you the option to transfer to another hospital. My 94 year old father has been shoved in a corner for over 3 days. Keep calling the ER and they leave me on hold and then disconnect me. read more

Steven Chen MD is horrible at pediatric emergency! Don't send your child to here if you need a suture of wound! Horrible done for my baby boy's face! lMissing one stitch and. Then cause the explore on his wound! I do ask him that he may need to add other stitch at the end, but he said, that will be explore if do one more!
