My mom and I love thrifting and try to go once a week together. I used to go the SPCA thrift down in Sacramento when it was still open, and so I was pleasantly surprised I only just now found out there was one up in Roseville! It's not as big as the other one was which was disappointing, but oh well. It's a small thrift store that had a lot of various pieces here. A small book section, clothes, a few pieces of furniture, etc etc. The best part is that the sales go towards the SPCA, so you can feel good about helping animals while finding something for cheap. They even had a back room with some pet furniture too! Prices were pretty cheap too! There were some things that were being charged more than what they're worth, but that's always the case at a second hand store. The majority was a great deal which is what matters the most. Staff was friendly and made up entirely of volunteers. They were happy to talk to us whenever we had questions about an item, but otherwise were pretty hands off in terms of letting us shop, which I appreciated. It's not the best thrift store I've ever been to, but it's far from the worst too. Check them out if you've got time, it's easy to get in and out of quickly too. read more

I'm giving it two stars because the money goes towards animals otherwise it would be one. Went inside and no one greeted us or asked if we needed help, we considered buying a few things but honestly the prices were absurd for a thrift store. $10 for a used tank top seems outrageous, there was a small cabinet but the price was over $100 and for that price you might as well go purchase in store. I think the biggest disappointment was just the lack of communication because we were there for probably 15 minutes and not approached once. Maybe it was an off day read more

Staff was so friendly. You could tell they care about the animals. When asked if I was looking for specific things, I was personally guided to different places and helped look. The prices were very decent and the place was clean. I didn't see a dressing room which is also nice when clothes are the main thing to be purchased, but it was still very nice. I would look and then all of a sudden there was another room or another area with more stuff. That was awesome. Looks small, but is actually a very decent size for a thrift store. read more

Really disappointed. Purchased a sealed headphones for my son for the computer. Purchased for $20 because it was in the box. Opened it and it was literally trash. Worn out head band. The thing is literally being held together by electrical tape. If this is how you all resell over there it's frikken pathetic and you should all be ashamed. read more

I like to support businesses dedicated to helping animals but had a very unpleasant experience trying to donate items here. I used to take all my best donations to the Sacramento SPCA thrift shop, which unfortunately closed several years ago and was thrilled to find out there is one in Roseville. I made a trip out there to check it out and see what kind of items they sell, then spent weeks putting things aside that I thought would sell well based on what I saw, including pet supplies and some vintage/antique items, and drove some distance from my home to drop them off. Two women came out to the donation drop off spot and were very unfriendly. No hello or greeting. One said in a nasty tone "What kind of things do you have?" I was put off by their manner. "I have some pet items" I said. On my reconnaissance trip I'd noticed they had, appropriately, a pet section with harnesses, clothing, crates, etc, just like the Sacramento store used to have, so I'd brought along some nearly new, clean and washed harnesses that my dogs had outgrown. They didn't even look at my items, and one of them said, "We have too many pet items this week." They were very dismissive and abrupt. They could see I didn't have huge piles of junky stuff in my car, it was a couple boxes and some bags, but they were so rude and instead of feeling good about bringing nice things to donate, I felt terrible. I also had no intention of making the long drive again on the off chance that they might take the pet things some other week. I had these boxes sitting around the house for ages and wanted it all gone that day. Nor did these women me feel like standing around while they went through my boxes and cherry picked this and that. Had they been nice and said hello, and explained with something like "Sorry, we have limited space and can only take certain things" - or just been moderately polite I might have felt differently, but as it was, I said never mind and they immediately turned and stomped back into the back of the store, rude to the end. When I would take things to Sacramento's SPCA thrift shop I always went in and shopped after dropping off my donations and would have done that here - so these volunteers lost the Placer SPCA donations as well as potential sales. Hope the store does well despite these two. The shop is clean and well organized inside. Mostly clothing but other items as well. It would be nice if they can get a better location and more space. read more

My daughter & I took some nice items to this shop, specifically to help animals. 2 women came to the car, immediately pawing through the boxes. One held up a nearly new hamster crate, dropping it, saying "this kind of thing will not sell, we don't want it", the other did the same with a bag of harnesses & leashes". They said they are unpaid volunteers. They made us feel like 2 cents. My daughter said we'd take our items to a thrift shop who would appreciate them. They turned and headed back inside. Being a volunteer is not a license for rudeness. We drove 20 miles specifically to donate to SPCA. We took everything to Goodwill & this employee said "thank you" read more

Good bargain hunting destination. I needed a X-Large dog crate ASAP. Found one here for $40. Just has one insignificant defect. The thing new costs over $200. Also got a brand new factory sealed dog Haltie Gentle Leader for my Labrador, $6. That retails for $20 at any retail pet supply store. Shop is the typical panoply of barely contained chaos. Lots of inventory. Mostly women clothes, as usual for every thrift store on this planet. Supports a great non-profit. All animal lovers who support pet adoption services should visit. Well curated store with friendly volunteers and higher end goods. Prices are moderate to high but there's great quality and less clutter to sort through. I found one "red circled" item for 75% off so that was a good find. I know it's going to a good cause so wasn't put off by prices too much, especially for the quality. read more

The sign states that they close at 5pm on Saturdays. It is currently 4:50pm. My friend and I walked in at 4:40pm and the grouchiest woman on earth who works there immediately stated "we are closing soon!!" In front of the two customers that were paying for their items. She wanted us out as soon as we walked in and made no attempt to offer us any greeting, much less, any customer service. While these people may be volunteers, this is still a business and customer service skills are essential. Anyway, there are plenty of other places to shop. The only thing we left with was a bad taste in our mouths. This lady is doing a disservice to this organization (especially the animals whom should be benefiting from sales) by trying to get rid of customers before they walk into the store. read more

I made a conscious decision to help the ASPCA and donate several thousands of dollars in nearly new clothes to the Placer SPCA. I WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN! It's a shame that the women running the Thrift Store on Washington are so rude and judgmental! I sent my husband and daughter to donate two large black leaf bags of extremely nice ADULT clothes (Ralph Lauren, INC, JD Nordstrom) but the woman looked at our daughter who was with my husband and said "We don't take kids clothes" my husband told her REPEATEDLY that we did not have any, all the clothes were size large and bigger. She insisted that they were large children's clothes (mind you she didn't even look at a single item!) my husband pulled out a pair of Ralph Lauren men's pants size 38X 33 and said these are NOT kids clothes. The woman then insulted our 20 year old 5' 7" 150 pound daughter and said "what size do you wear sweetie" my daughter said extra large. She then said "You mean you wear extra large in kids clothes right sweetie" NO, NOT RIGHT! We took them to the Goodwill and they were thrilled to receive them. It's a shame that you are allowing your workers to chase away your donors. This is a failure for a business model and in the end the Animals are the ones who ultimately lose! Money from donations goes a long way! You should value the people who try to help them. read more

Ive purchased several designer name items, mainly purses, and shoes. Condition was excellent and prices were fair. My friend checked on Google for pricing. I didn't even know you could do that. I donate frequently and go right around the corner to the thrift shop. Fun shopping, friendly staff, and more often than not, good prices. I even bought some very nice artwork for family members. Have never had a bad experience here. read more

I love thrifting here Current sale: 50% off clothing, shoes and accessories. I found a pair of never worn Gucci leather sandals. So cute! The gals that work here are awesome. So friendly and they are all about supporting the animals. There is a raffle every month, tickets are $1 each or 7 tix for $5. This month's raffle is valued at $1,900! I hope I win Tip: I heard they are having a bag sale on Sat 9/28. Buy the bag for a certain amount and then stuff it as full as you can! Not sure how much the bag will cost, but I'm sure the store will be crowded. Can't wait for the end-of-year sale. read more

Whoever is pricing this stuff is absolutely out of their mind. Not only are they incorrectly identifying things, but they are pricing items at full or above retail prices because they "checked it online". I understand the funds are supposed to go to a good cause, but funds are going to be severely limited if you charge outrageous prices and the items sit on the shelves forever. This store needs a serious reality check and go back to helping their community with affordable secondhand goods AND helping animals. A consistently great place to donate, which helps me let go of items I no longer need and declutter my home. Knowing the proceeds supports animals makes it all worthwhile! It's even easier to donate now that one doesn't haven't to make an appointment to do so. Oh my goodness. It's been over 5 years since I've been in the store. I'm overwhelmed by how beautiful the story is and how beautifully displayed the merchandise is. Such beautiful pieces a whole display of blue and white pottery that I would love to take home. Wonderful volunteers. Wonderful cause. The prices are right since the quality is higher, this is not a thrift store this is a resale boutique. I live in Reno now but every time I come over the mountain I'll stop here for sure. I happened to drive past this place one day and thought, that looks interesting. So I U-turned and went to check it out. That was months ago and I've gone several times now and absolutely LOVE this place. Not sure what it is about it. Maybe it's the volunteers who make it so bright and welcoming? Or the people who donate amazing items for a great cause? Or how they constantly have "sales" based on when items come in and how long they've been sitting in the store? (For example, in March, all the February items will be discounted 25% and January items and older are 50% off). It's like a treasure hunt. For instance, I bought a pink bag with some poles and cloth inside. The label on the outside said "Kid's Tent $5." No instructions, nothing, but I figured it might be fun to put it together. I hoped that it wasn't missing any pieces. That day, the item happened to be 25% off, so I paid something like $3.75 plus tax for the item. Came home and thought I'd check out if YouTube had a video on how to put it together. Yup, they did, because apparently this tent is made by a company that makes many kinds of children's tents. SO glad I found that video, otherwise I'd have no idea how to put it together! My nieces came over the next weekend and were stoked to see this huge tent that they could both play in, and we could also peek in and see inside. All for less than $5! I've also found a new king-sized duvet cover for $5 that I absolutely love. This is definitely one of my favorite places to walk around. :) And it's for a great cause! read more

Volunteers is how this store functions, HOWEVER, customers (especially returning customers) make this store possible to stay in business. Keep the grumpy volunteers in the back room... Cute little store with limited inventory. The store is approximately 2000 SF and it is filled to capacity with lots of inventory. They have a little of everything. There are lots of knick knacks, clothing, china, furniture, housewares, books and some toys. There was a porcelain doll there who was less than two feet tall which was selling for $45 and it had some fingers broken. I thought that was a little pricey. But, who knows, it may have been a collector's item. I also found a large tiled wooden box, it was quite interesting. But the hinges were broken and that went for $10. After watching many horror movies, the box and the doll were out, although, they did catch my attention?! There are lots of workers here who are volunteers of the SPCA. Not one person acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. Which is fine by me, because I was just looking and didn't have anything particular I wanted to purchase. I love the SPCA and support their cause. If you don't buy anything here but support the SPCA, you can always drop by the actual location around the corner and find out what options you have to support this organization. read more

They don't have bikes or children's clothes but everything that they do have is displayed with such care. The women that run the store are absolutely lovely and take pride in the facility. They are actually priced like a thrift store as well and benefit the animals. It's a win for everybody! read more

On their website they indicate that they accept donations of blankets & linens, and to call to make appointment for donation delivery. I called and left a detailed message about having blankets & bed linens, in good condition, and asked for a callback. A bit later, someone returned my call. We discussed what I had and the condition. She made me an appointment for the same day. I arrived and was told they are accepting no blankets or linens, as they have too much already and homeless shelters, who may accept any that SPCA Thrift Store cannot sell, also has too much. It was round trip of 10 miles to be told they wouldn't accept any of what I had to donate. They also said that they only accept new linens in packaging! Really?!! That criteria was not on the website or mentioned by the person who returned my call. Seems like the left hand has no idea what the right hand needs or wants. At the price of gasoline, not to mention my time, and their time, I was pretty annoyed. If they had too much to accept even a SINGLE one of these items with no assessment of their value for sale, they should have said so when I called. The one comment that gives then 2 stars instead on1 star (zero star is not an option) is that they mentioned a vet office might have use of blankets donated. read more

We have enjoyed the store many times over the past few years. In fact my daughter goes daily during the summer too. We have both made many purchases because we find many beautiful treasures. We were in the store for thirty plus minutes interacted with customers and staff with no problems including a young child. My border collie is deaf and we always have a vest on her to let people know. She was enjoying the store and I was looking at a black dress because it caught my eye. My dog was sitting right beside me when a staff member ignored her vest and approached from behind. She startled my dog who jumped up and growled slightly. I was able to get her to stop, sit and focus on me. The lady waited another ten minutes before approaching us again and told us to leave. I still had my dog beside me and was obeying me (we trained her with simple sign language from a puppy). I tried to talk to her but she refused to listen or ask others who had been around her if she had done anything similar to them. She had her mind made up and we left. My daughter was very upset because she felt like the lady didn't care and refused to listen. You have lost two customers who have enjoyed the store for a long time now. We are also sharing the story to others we have recommended the store to including the group i am part of with owners of dogs who are deaf too. Hope it was worth it considering she approached my dog from behind, never asked and was never in danger as my dog was under my control at all times read more

Great little thrift store!! It's small but has a lot of stuff, and you can uncover some little treasures if you hunt around the junky stuff. I found 3 books and several dvd's I liked, so I was happy as a clam! The prices are decent, and there was good variety of clothes, etc. I'd probably come back and treasure hunt some more next time I was in the area. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. It was fine that we couldn't use their fitting room we stepped in the rear in a corner and took off our jackets and tried clothes on over our clothes. My companion had a halter top and was told she couldn't undressed in the store.... hhhmmm ok so she put jacket back on and we continued then someone else came over "to make sure" we were clothed... then the 3rd person came over when we tried a shoe on... yes a shoe to make sure we were clothed! Seriously? We were followed and watched. I am a person of color.. was it that? Was it a halter top that was too much for these older very prudish crabby ladies... we had a pile of clothes we were going to purchase... we left without purchasing anything... Very disappointing. They need to remove the word "thrift" from their name. The prices are insane. A Bombay chest was $500. That's antique store pricing - not thrift store pricing. Usually I have no complaints about this store but today, the staff/volunteers made me feel extremely uncomfortable. There are three reasons for this. #1-None of them were wearing masks. #2- As a customer was checking out, one of the women who was putting things out on the floor to be sold decided that she wanted to bully said customer for buying items that she had just put out; of which she had wanted to buy for herself and she loudly proclaimed this. Thankfully the cashier said something and apologized to the customer but the bullying didn't stop there. #3- After this cashier left, two new cashiers took her place and wouldn't uphold a sale for a new customer that another worker had verbally told to multiple people. After this customer left, these two cashiers decided it would be in their best interests to then complain to each other about the customer who had just left. This all took place around 1:30 pm on 02/13/2021. I personally had to walk out because the way that these workers treated the customers was outrageous. If the store would change their policy to not allow volunteers and staff to buy items or hoard them while working, maybe this hostility would not happen in the future. read more

I am a regular to this store..love it! It is a clean, well-organized store that carries a whole range of high-quality goods. Nice clothing selection (men's and women's), collectibles, children's toys, books, dvds, and even furniture now! And new things constantly cycling in, so something different every week.
