Then we learned once we got to the bottom, that there's an elevator!!! Oh well, next time. I'll be back here next month so if we have a chance to stop in again, we'll remember to use the elevator this time around. Come here when the sun is setting, we went earlier in the day and it was pretty hot, even though it was foggy. Just be careful not to stay too late, they close the gates on you without checking.

Every morning (except Monday), there is a beautiful farmers' market in the middle of Cours Saleya that offers everything from herbs to hats. I initially went around 7am, while all of the vendors were setting up. Not many people were around, and it was very cool seeing the market take shape. I later returned at noon, and the street was absolutely teeming with tourists and locals alike. After dinner I grabbed another drink and found myself right across from Ponchettes Beach, so I decided to walk over and it actually turned into such a nice evening. The beach and promenade were full of people relaxing, hanging out, and taking in the gorgeous sunset. The vibe was laid-back and the colors over the water were beautiful. I recommend doing it the same day you see Castle Hill, because it is right down the road. If you really want a treat, walk an extra half mile past the port and dine at Le Plongeoir. Even drinks there would suffice, given the incredible view. If you do dine there, make a reservation early: they book up months in advance. It was disappointing and I believe over the top but in the end we were late even if it was less than 5 minutes. It was not easy to see my 17 year olds heart broken. I also saw disparate treatment of Europeans and similar looking race vs other cultures. Europeans and similar looking people were treated with humor and respect while other races were treated with a bit of rude behavior and crudeness. The owner did employ an Asian lady who was wonderful. Overall I would not recommend this establishment because they didn't make me and my family feel comfortable. However I still give 3 stars because of safety and thoroughness of work.

There are some nice mists there that come on and off every so often and quite refreshing on a hot day (see pictures).
