Instead of taking responsibility for their mistake, management tried to shift the story and backtrack on what they had already put in writing. On top of that, when I tried to adjust my move-in date slightly, the quoted rent was suddenly raised by hundreds of dollars more per month. This left me with no choice but to cancel my move-in altogether and start my housing search over at the last minute. This kind of back-and-forth, changing terms after approval, and dismissing their own written commitments is unacceptable. It wasted my time, cost me other housing opportunities, and left me with a very negative view of how Camden Potomac Yard operates. Do not trust the lease paperwork or promises you receive from this building. If they could tell me one thing in writing and later claim it was wrong, it can happen to anyone.

What I found were a lot of concrete high-rise apartments that felt austere and "rushed" in the construction and which all seemingly had a nightclub atmosphere within the building or immediately in the entry way; this was not for me or anything close to what I would want to come home to (even though I know home is wherever your dog is). I looked at about ten apartments before finding Manor House and then I knew right away this was where I wanted to live. Manor House is charming and cared for and elegant in a low-key way. Nestled in what feels like a private park, flowers and greenery abound and there are just three floors per building and only 7 or so apartments per floor. The effect of this is that the grounds and the complex provide a tranquil reprieve from the raucous hustle of standard DC area living. Additionally, the apartment is remarkably well-maintained both inside and out. I mentioned the park-like atmosphere: this is due to meticulous grounds-keepers that lay new sod and maintain beautiful flowers around every aspect of the property. Inside the common areas a daily housekeeping service comprised of some of the kindest people you'll ever meet around D.C. keeps these spaces immaculately clean (including right up to your front door). And then there's inside the apartments: From hardwood floors to ornate crown molding to custom built shelves, Manor House gets all the details right. I'll add to this that, when I walked into my apartment on the first day of my rental period, there was a large welcome basket that greeted me with a card signed by the management team alongside treats for my dog. . . Manor House understands that details make all of the difference. When we first moved in, a flaw in the infrastructure allowed for water to seep into our closet when it rained. Management and the maintenance team worked tirelessly to rectify the issue. They made accommodations to ensure our personal items were never damaged, coordinated repairs around our schedules, and constantly communicated the progress. When contractors realized repairs were going to be more invasive, management was flexible and accommodating. We were afforded the option to move out or choose a different unit to move to and reside. We chose to stay at the Clark because of the kind, compassionate team members that treat us like family. When we could not decide on a unit to reside, Douglass walked us through units for the umpteenth time and helped us weigh the pros and cons of each one. Vanessa coordinated movers for us and made sure we had everything we needed to make a smooth transition. Travis continuously checked in on moving day to ensure there were no issues. We stayed because of the team of people who work here like Allen and Jarrett who treat us, and our dogs, like family. I moved here on short notice from out of state during the winter of 2018 ahead of a snowstorm. Ms. Angela Policarpio was the first person I met. I will never forget how informed she was on every aspect of the property, local area, and offering me the loaner cart to get my initial groceries with the storm approaching. After almost 5 years of living here, Ms. Angela continues to amaze me. She knows every family/resident living at 1401; I have never seen her have a bad day. She is the most upbeat, positive person I have ever met and always represents 1401 South Joyce in a professional manner. She has been a major part of why I stayed here. Another person who has been a constant is Ms. Tina Wallace. My work schedule does not always allow me to catch her in the office, but when I have, she always takes the time to speak with me about any concerns, issues or just to talk about life and family. If I cannot reach her in person, I can send an email and know that I will get a prompt response. I moved out at the end of May 2023 with mixed emotions as this has been my home. I love the convenience of being at the center of things. I have a car but generally do not drive because there are bus stops along Joyce Street and a Metro in the Pentagon City Mall next door. You can rent scooters, Zips cars, or Uber to any location. 1401 Joyce is centrally located and walkable to Whole Foods, Harris Teeters, Walgreens, a variety of restaurants, a park across the street (for people and pets), and awesome amenities. The property was nice when I moved in and I didn't think it could be better, but the new layouts and upgrades show they thought about what the residents needed (especially remote workers) and implemented them into the design. As for maintenance, over the 5-year period, I experienced minor repairs that were always addressed the next day by the time I came home from work. The maintenance team has been very responsive.
