Time to update my review although my first one still holds true. I still have the 1990 Camry & when faced with issues other than the normal stuff, PK Auto is my go-to & it really should become my main squeeze. They don't freak out when you say your car isn't from The Year 2000. My engine light came on & no one close-by had the ability to help me. Nothing new about that since my first review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called PK & happily Tom said bring it in...and so I did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also told him about an oil issue my regular & closer mechanic was still deciphering. I had paid for that service already but hey, when in Rome....or Anaheim just bite the bullet & go with the mechanic who can do it all. PK diagnosed all the issues including oddball parts that were starting to deteriorate. They showed me everything & explained the extensive labor involved that always contributes to the cost. Two days later the car's ready & I'm back on the rode. I should be good for another year (she said hopefully). My mileage is low for the age of the car but when new used cars are affordable again I'll get one but I'll still go to PK...they aren't afraid to go the extra mile! read more

I have been coming here for a bit over a year and really enjoy their service. It is affordable and they are quick and efficient. Han and his team are very helpful, reliable, and offer good deals. $60 for an oil change with cash and $64 with card. He always gives a better deal (few dollars off) if you pay with cash, so keep that in mind. I came here on a Monday morning around 10am and they changed my oil in 30 minutes or so. It would be faster but they are usually busy because they're so good at what they do!! I always come here now instead of Pep Boys or Jiffy Lube because they are honest and give competitive prices. But this past week an experience I had with them just blew my mind. My FJ was having issues with skipping gears. Hoan, the owner said it was probably the transmission. He gave me a very reasonable quote for a rebuilt and a new one as well. For a second opinion, I went to AAMCO. They tested it and said that it was the transmission and gave me a price double the amount of Hoan's quote with the same one year guarantee. So I went back to Hoan and told him to go ahead and order the new transmission, But he said, let me try one more thing before you spend so much money. So he cleaned the torque. He told me to test it for a few days to see if that would solve the problem...and it did! What an honest and reliable person he is. I refer all my friends to them. Their turn around time is fast. I took my truck in to have it serviced because it wouldn't start. I was told by another source that it maybe my starter. So I bought a new starter and took it over to these guys, they initially told me that my starter in the truck was fine and the issue was my key. My key was a copy of the original that I made as a spare. They said, oh you need to have the original key made. I was a bit drawn back because the spare worked fine. Hesitant i said ok. Locksmith $250 for new key. They called me and said ok truck is ready. Im thinking ok cool. I guess it was the key, oddly enough. I ask for my total, he said the price for the new key $250 plus $100 for starter replacement. Now I'm drawn back again. I asked, "didn't you guys say the starter in my truck was fine and it didn't need to be replaced." He goes, "oh I thought you wanted us to change out the starter anyway." Um no! That makes no sense if it was working fine and all I needed was a key. So all that to say is I feel like they had me get another key made for nothing. I believe when they had the new key made the problem was the same, my truck wouldn't start. So they decided to change the starter because it most likely was bad and needed to be replaced. They made me spend an unnecessary $250 because they made a bad assumption and I had to pay for it. To say the least, I wasn't to happy about that. read more

I take my wifes hybrid, my FIL's sedan, and my truck here all the time. The guys here are super honest and never over charge on an oil change. $22 bucks cash covers all kinds of cars, no extra cost. One time I had an issue with my truck and Tom immediately pointed it out saying it was the brake booster and would be 350 which he said could cause long term damage if not taken care of soon but just had the oil change done. I went to Meineke and they said 875, I went to Midas and they said 1200+. I then went to my dads mechanic in Bellflower and they said $375 but the brake booster wasnt an issue. Cool maybe I will just stick with oil changes at PK, right? Fast forward about 5 weeks later when my check engine light was on, took it to my dads place thinking he was more truthful. All of a sudden he said my brake booster indeed was bad, but it was the gas cap that was malfunctioning and causing the light to turn on. We replaced the gas cap and took my truck back to PK auto and got it for the cheaper price. I should have listened to tom the first time, and now I will only take my truck there. his son works there too and is a young guy, very smart and helpful. Story time! I was in SoCal on vacation and rented a Dodge Challenger. During my spirited drive on the PCH I got the dreaded check engine light. I called enterprise to make them aware of my issue and they pretty much just said it wasn't on when I left with it. Bummed out i looked around yelp and found PK auto! BRING LUBE. YOU'RE GONNA GET FUCKED. #1) Brought my car through here because one of my headlights was out. A friend mentioned that they do electronics. I already knew it was a wiring problem because my headlight, low-beam and turn-signal were out on only one side. Some short brown asian dude tinkered with some wires and told me the job would cost $90! (Which I know is way too much). I said no thank you and was on my way out, but he stopped me because they had a "diagnostic charge" (taking out my headlight for 5 minutes and telling me something I already knew). I didn't sign anything, but I complied because i thought i was gonna have to maybe tip him like $10. They asked for $50! I talked him down to $40 which was still a fucking ripoff. I got my headlight completely fixed for $35 at BP AutoSound the same day. #2) I came for the $13 oil change. They said it would cost about $22 with taxes. I was like, fuck it, that's still cheap. There were two cars before me so they told me to eat somewhere for about 45 minutes. I walked to the Dairy Queen. When I came back and asked if it was done, the little brown asian dude seemed confused. He went to the receptionist and asked for my keys which were just on the desk with no invoice. They hadn't even started. I had to sit there for another 20 minutes And I ate fucking Dairy Queen for no reason. I fucking hate their food there. And today, 3000 miles later, I decided to to man up and do my own oil. When it came time to drain the oil, its like they used a fucking airgun to tighten the oil drain bolt. THEY RIP YOU OFF. WORST SERVICE EVER. DON'T COME HERE. Ok, so I came here because something hit my car on the freeway and the right side of my bumper was off by a little. I came here and they said it would be a total of $250 to fix the car. Alright, so to fix the car, it took a total of less than 10 minutes. For labor, they charged me $75 dollars, and all they had to do was to staple my bumper! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! when i asked them why it was so expensive, they said that they charged me for the time it took to call Toyota for the parts. Ok, so for two calls that were five minutes long and to staple my bumper to my car which took 10 minutes, taking a total of 20 minutes for my car, i got charged a $75 service fee. SCREW YOU. Next, when they said they would charge me $250 to fix my car, at the end when i went to pay, they said it would cost me $285. Uh... why did it go up $35. Because it cost 2 DOLLARS PER STAPLE and then they JACKED UP THE LABOR FEE. Finally, they leave your car smelling like crap. read more

I have always loved to get my cars serviced here, for several years now. All of this changed on my last visit. I came in with my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan, being towed in lo less. The owner, Han, must have seen this as a chance to gouge me since I am also handicapped and on top of everything I am too weak to work on my own car any longer due to weakness caused by dialysis. He wanted to charge me 70.00 just to hook up the van to the reader to get the trouble codes. My van has a feature that by turning the key in the ignition the times, the display gives me the trouble codes. He and his mechanics did not know this trick and challenged me to prove it. After showing both of them how it is done, all i got was sarcasm by telling me if I wanted an application for employment. He still charged me $20.00 CASH for equipment and labor fee. ( maybe he should have paid ME for training him how to do his job). I tried telling him what i had found out on the internet as far as trouble shooting the problem, to which he replied for me NOT to tell him how to do his job. All I was trying to do was to give him a starting point to trouble shoot. Since he had no Idea what was wrong. He replaced the fuel pump, and still had a problem. There was nothing wrong with my fuel pump. He ended up re-installing my old pump back on. Then, he stated it was my ecu module. (The brains of the van). He told me it would be about $400.00 for the part plus programming, plus labor. I told him that these parts did not need additional programming since they come plug-and-play. He snapped back that since I knew so much, that I should get the part. I ordered the part from the internet with a company that even programmed it for me. $269.99 including tax, shipping and handling. The part arrived and i took it to Han who just plugged it in to see if it worked. The van worked fine. Then, he commented that it would cost me $120.00 just installing it (which is four bolts with a screwdriver... 5-15 minutes worth of work). I told him it was outrageous to charge me the equivalent of $480.00/hr to take off and put on 4 screws. He drove my van out of his shop and told me to do it myself! (Obviously thinking that he had me in a tight spot). I called Meineke just 200 yards down the same street. They quoted me $28.50 just to bolt on the unit. A more reasonable fee for a job the labor book says takes 15 minutes. They did it in 5 minutes! The owner of PK AUTO PERFORMANCE, Han, seems he only knows prices starting at $120.00 and up, no matter how small the job. OK place for oil changes... But that is about all. read more

Came here to get a cheap oil change - there was an ad in the Pennysaver for $13.95 for an oil change, oil filter, and tire rotation. It's located in a lot with several other automotive repair shops, including T & T Auto Repair, which had the same coupon except they said the wait would be 20 minutes. However, there was no wait for PK. so that's who I went with. Since I brought my own oil (it's much better than using the cheap recycled oil the shops use), he charged me a flat $12. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. This was a very standard oil change; they don't check anything else in your car or top off fluids, although it does come with a tire rotation, which some places charge extra for. Before I left, he told me I needed a timing belt, which would cost $150, but I'll get a second opinion before committing. read more
