Amazing sandwich shop, way better than subway or jimmy johns, very small on the inside but they have good outdoor seating!!

Fresh, fast and delicious. I just a little mom and pop shop, but tastes better than most national chain sub shops. If you're in the Parrish area, definitely give them a try. read more

Love the sandwiches here. Quick, fresh and portions are huge. Love this place. Bring cash as they don't take cards.

PJ's Sandwich Shop absolutely knocked it out of the park. I ordered the Deluxe, and when they handed it to me I honestly couldn't believe the size of it -- this thing was HUGE. Packed from end to end with fresh ingredients and stacked high, it felt like they didn't cut any corners at all. The flavor was incredible. Every bite was perfectly balanced -- fresh bread, generous portions of meat, crisp toppings, and everything tasted high quality. You can tell they care about what they're making. It wasn't just big for the sake of being big -- it was genuinely delicious. Super yummy, super satisfying, and one of those meals that actually leaves you full and happy. The service was great too -- friendly staff and quick turnaround. The whole experience just felt welcoming and worth it. If you're debating on what to order, get the Deluxe. You will not regret it. I'll definitely be coming back again soon! read more

This is the best place!! The food is good . Love the Italian sub! the most people are so nice!

In a word, COME! There's a reason this sandwich shop has been here for so many decades. It isn't much to look at on the inside and it's really small but you don't come here for the atmosphere, you came for the sandwiches. The Italian sub was over the top loaded. The ladies are hard working and put out sandwich after sandwich in their home style wide open kitchen. Locals and visitors alike come for these delicious goodies. Don't be discouraged by the line, it moves fast. Also, no fountain drinks and french fries, you're here for the sandwich. Eat up and enjoy! read more

As if descending from the heavens overnight, new communities fall upon old Florida as I inadvertently press on the gas (light speed ahead) and pass these ventures which I'm not in agreement with and care not too get to close too. I don't think any came in last night and as I continue towards the end of my main road and just pass the 'S' turns, PJ's Sandwich Shop comes into view. White sand devils can streak across at any time, I don't mind them but the van does. No painted lines to angle into, just keep'err straight with the others and high tail it in. If your the first or last, I encourage perpendiculars, but don't go pulling out your protractors because of me. First time in and I was picturing a pair of blimpies I'd like to eat, but with no meat, for now, as my body's under taking a full body interior remodeling. I read the specials board which was that blue, green deep grey color. I recognize that white chalk too, the line size and the corner clumping. Those were the instruments when I was just a young schoolboy. So I'm reaching for nostalgia stars, I miss the 80's and I'm looking for all of these small reminders everywhere. Three sandwiches available, the counter woman came quickly, I was hungry and took the top which I'd love to have used the old classroom wooden pointing stick to slap on the top liner of Egg Salad. She was so sweet and energetic I rolled out with said sandwich and good vibrations as if she shot a good energy arrow into me. The potato chips were set in along the side, they were standing up the likes I've never seen and a damn hardy chip at that. Although unidentifiable to my eye but strong enough not to break. Similar to if you were to drive your 1700 pound cow into town in your Crown Victoria. You'd simply take off the trunk hood, cut the roof in half, grind it down a bit and have the heffer walk and plop down in the middle. The car being the potato chips and the cow being the egg salad. read more

Drove all this way just for them to be closed! Waste of time and gas. Not many options without driving farther out of the way.

First off, I should have wayyyy more photos for this review, but the food was so absolutely phenomenal that I only took some the 2nd time there! We travel a lot and are foodies for sure but can you believe that this place has been literally up the street from our house?! Our 15 year old son goes here for lunch with his boss and had mentioned it a few times but you think oh man another sandwich shop.. thanks son.. lol well we FINALLY got around to trying this cute little shop out because we were getting our tires done, directly across the street and needed lunch! My hubs said that I needed an attitude adjustment lol so he said we are eating at PJs!! It was almost close time so we hurried on over there! This place is small but mighty! They have all the ladies hard at work and the service was exceptional! It's everything you want every place you eat at, to feel like! They get their bread from a local bakery, which is chefs kiss to any of their sandwiches! The cuban sandwich is well proportionated and full of flavor! The Italian sandwich has the freshest veggies and meat! The bread makes those sandwiches superior to most! They make all of their sides so um, yes please!!! I don't even eat or like eggs but the macaroni salad is incredible. Its so simple yet tastes like it came from a southern kitchen! The tea is perfectly sweet too! The winner and they are all winners BUT the house made banana pudding is absolutely hands down the best Ive ever had! They don't use the box pudding!!! Glory! I make everything from scratch in my home, and at the moment I am making some rustic artisan bread so I say that because if im taking a day off from cooking, Im going to PJs, period! I absolutely recommend this sandwich shop and everything they serve! You will thank me later! Enjoy! read more

Excellent food , & service. Speed was reminiscent of Chicago. Move em in, move em out. We both had the hot pastrami w/ swiss, jalopeno, pickles and mustard with a side of mac salad. Excellent! Definitely will double back and stop again. Place doesn't look like much from the outside, and only one or two tables from the inside, but food is gr8! Mostly takeout. But worth a stop! BTW, all the ladies making sandwiches were wearing gloves. This is pursuant to another comment complaining about them, not washing hands. The only person wasn't wearing gloves was the cashier who I believe is also the owner/manager.. She wasn't involved in any food prep. . read more

Out for a Sunday drive on Saturday, had to since I don't live close but have been by on my Sunday drive, their closed on Sundays. Planned on a Saturday, took a back roads tour to the place. I can see it is slowly getting developed in to house farms. Get out there and drive before it's gone. Pulled into PJ's around 1:30 and could see it busy, still decided to stay and glad I did. It didn't take long. As I entered it was busy inside, but as it turned out, those orders have been submitted and being processed. I got in there and placed my order for a 8" Italian all the way, no mayo...I had to tell them no mayo on an Italian, who puts mayo on anything Italian. Anyways, sandwich came out perfect, I like the shredded lettuce. And what really topped it off was the roll, it was the perfect sub-roll for that sandwich. I took my sandwich out front, not to much seating available, however I did find a bench on the side with a nice breeze. I will need to find a park or nature spot close by to have it again. Will be back, peace. read more

Very nice folks! Good quality sandwiches (honestly, a little pricey, but about what you'd pay at Subway or Jimmy John's, and probably better quality, too) CASH ONLY, so be prepared. The ladies who work there are super friendly and genuinely appreciative of the business- so go there just for them, and get a good sammie at the same time. Recommended! read more

PJs is a staple of the Parrish community. Their food is consistent quality and tastes amazing. Parrish is exploding so more and more nostalgic conversations lead to talks about supporting local. EVERYONE in Parrish talks about PJ's so I figured I'd give it a whirl. If I'm going to buy food from somewhere ideally both the experience and quality of food should be better than what I can do at home to justify the expense and time involved in getting whatever it is. I was in line to order. There is a girl behind me holding a puppy. Rightfully so, a woman rushed from the back to hold and love on this puppy. This woman was the one making the sandwiches. With a line almost out the door I became a little concerned about the amount of time being spent on this puppy instead of the backlog of orders that was building. She was getting in some good cuddles though. She eventually left the adorable pup and returned promptly to the kitchen and started making sandwiches. It's key to notice I didn't say she washed her hands then returned to the kitchen. She did no such thing. No hand washing. Back to work. After holding an animal and furthermore, a puppy who can carry all sorts of things at that age. I was turned off, but the romantic in me wanted to support local and really see how good these sandwiches must be. I could go to Publix and purchase a hoagie and make a sandwich superior to what I received. PJ's is one of those businesses that remain operating due to local support & the ideology of good local places. It's like bad breakfast joints near the beach that continue to be in business based on their location NOT food quality. As the area develops the allure and faithful patronage will fade away if nothing changes because there will be better quality food and experiences available. I'd hope they evolve as the area does, but it will require some change in my estimation. read more

Great local sandwich shop running on 30+ years of being a staple of the community! I recently tried these folks out due to winning a gift certificate from a local charity event. If you're a native to Ellenton or Parrish, you may never find your way to this area of "Downtown" Parrish, unless you frequent the train museum or the YMCA. That will all change in the next several years with all the development finding its way north on 301. As it does, support these folks by enjoying their delicious and reasonably priced food. Sandwiches are big, and a small upgrade cost makes them even bigger. Banana pudding is homemade, sweet, and yummy. I had a salad w/Italian dressing and it was made in house. It was quite good. They are cash only, but provide an ATM on site for convenience. Limited seating area but enough for small groups. Call ahead for to go. read more

Simple and flavorful. Best little hometown sandwich shoppe in downtown Parrish. Love the tuna!

I had the Italian Sub. It was below expectations. I was anticipating to find an Italian sub comparable to what one may find in a traditional Italian deli. The Italian meats were not of high quality and the sub had American cheese. Provolone cheese and high quality meats such as salami, prosciutto, and capicola are usually found on an Italian sub along with an Italian dressing. The place was unique and the people were very friendly. I'm sure the other, more traditional subs may be great. read more
