Great little place with an unexpected menu. The building appears to be a Waffle House transformed…read more We were on a girls trip and needed a stop on the way home. We walked in at 2:00pm on Sunday (an hour before closing) and we were the only ones there. The carb selections looked absolutely amazing. They made all of our keto accommodations. If we lived in town, we would for sure be back.

Nova is a fitting name. The menu is "nerdy" and the taste is explosive. We tried their Avocado Coffee. Yes. Avocado Coffee. Very inventive, especially for Pineville. There are so many amazing menu items that's creatively named (Sorry I was so caught up and being super early. I forgot to take pics except for the one site pic after the rush has cleared before another rush of people about to walk in as we were walking out). There were four of us and every plate was uniquely named and scrumptious. We aren't from here, so we are definitely surprised to experience this "big city" experience in a small town. Staff and service were amazing. The owner even came by to talk to us. Place might remind us of old Waffle House but it smells clean and looks clean. It's CLEAN. If you live within 30 mins of driving...Or even an hour.... Definitely worth a drive to come here to support great local small business owners and expect to be blown away with the creativity and deliciousness!!!!

This is my favorite coffee shop in Alexandria! I love this shop so much that I took my husband here…read moreas his first stop in Alexandria prior to meeting my parents when he was my boyfriend! Of course I chose somewhere that I felt was the best Alexandria has to offer in an atmosphere where he could enjoy a beverage and have plenty of space and privacy to relax and unwind (he is the first boyfriend I ever took to meet my parents so the pressure was real!) This shop is located in downtown Alexandria with super quirky decor, lots of seating, and several book and game options to pass the time! I also loved the hidden notes in the bookcase that gave book recommendations. I have tried several of their drinks here throughout the years. Most recently I tried one of their seasonal drinks, the reindeer chow but asked them to hold the chow to make it a cookie butter latte with oat milk (wasn't really in the mood for a chocolatey cereal chow meal in my drink but loved the concept)! I also ordered the avocado toast. The latte was perfectly balanced, yet rich and delicious! It was also served at the perfect drinkable temp. The avocado toast was THICK and the avocado and egg topping seemed fresh. It was very filling and a nice dose of healthy protein after all the holiday indulgence! I will ALWAYS come back to this coffee shop when I'm in town especially since it holds a precious memory for me. Also, Check out the background of this shop on their website, such a beautiful dedication!

Very casual atmosphere with hustling servers and kitchen. The muffuletta was good, thinner on the filling than some I've had but enjoyable on a large roll as required! To start, I ordered the fried green beans. Honestly, nothing on the appetizer menu really stood out, so it felt like a safe choice just to have something on the table. No complaints, but the appetizer selection could use a little more variety. For my main course, I went with the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp & Grits, along with a side of the twice baked potato. The shrimp were tasty--no issues there--but there were only about 4 or 5 pieces, and the sauce was overly salty. I ended up eating the shrimp and leaving the rest. On the other hand, the twice baked potato was fantastic--definitely the highlight of the meal. I ordered the bread pudding to go, but it was a bit underwhelming. Definitely not their best, and I wouldn't order it again. Overall, the service was excellent, and the food ranged from good to great. I'd recommend giving it a try. I have a feeling there's something on the menu I'd really love with a bit more exploration.

I have been in the Alexandria, LA probably a dozen times in the last two years for breakfast. The…read morebreakfast is pretty good (if you can get it hot)! I don't understand why there is always 3 to 5 orders just sitting at the pickup area for 10 to 20 minutes waiting to get picked up by the waitresses who don't seem to be in a hurry to deliver the meals in a timely manner (while still hot). The time before my last visit, I asked to have my Waffle first before the rest of the breakfast so it would be hot when I got it. I waited 20 minutes and asked my waitress about it and she had not put the order in!!! Not the brightest bulb on the tree! When she finally brought the waffle to my table, I put the back of my hand to the waffle, and it was barely warm with ice-cold butter on top "and" she delivered the rest of my order (eggs, country ham, hashbrown, grits and toast, all also just lukewarm and the eggs & toast were cold. She brought me another "hot" order and looked at me like I had horns! The last couple of times I have eaten there I have sat at the counter on a stool literally 3 feet from the food pickup area so the cook can pass my plates to me as they come off the grill nice and hot! Nobody wants lukewarm or cold food. The solution is too easy, either they have a food expediter to immediately pick up the food and get it right out to the table and/or ring the bell that an order is ready and so the waitresses hear it or know it is calling her, if the restaurant has four waitresses the cook should ring the bell four times in succession, if there are only two or three waitresses then just ring the bell twice or three times. If there is a manager, he/she needs to make sure the waitresses and cooks are on the same page and more of a sense of urgency to get the food out hot! IF THEY EXPECT A NICE TIP! If I get good hot food and good professional service, typically leave a 25% or more tip, but these waitresses are lucky if I leave $2. I left two stars because of the issues afore mentioned. If I were grading just the food, it would be 5 stars.
