Spicy Vodka
Khaum L.

Best pizza place in town. I am not a crust person but for Pizzeria Dolorosa crust? Heck yes! It is crispy and cooked to perfection. Everything is seasoned well. My favorite was the Spicy Vodka. For a non- meat pizza, all the flavor is there. We also got the Hot Honey Pepperoni half with the Sausage & Onion. The hot honey was a bit too sweet for my taste but my husband enjoyed it. The sausage onion was good, but the middle slices are a bit too greasy for me. Otherwise they were still enjoyable to try. Staff are friendly. Dine in area is clean and spotless. Bathrooms are well kept! Definitely will be returning to try out other options!

I've been wanting to try out this pizzeria for a while now, and I finally decided to stop in to grab a whole pie for take-out. I'd actually give this place 4.5 stars if I could. They said they specialize in New York style pizza, and they use three day fermented sourdough (although technically speaking, because they use a fermented dough, and with the charring on the crust, it kind of leans in toward the New Haven style pizza, in my opinion). Pizza by the slice is only offered during lunch time. I liked that they offered a small menu because that means they have more quality control. I ordered their Sausage and Onion pie. Because of their fermented sourdough, their crust was by far the most flavorful I've tasted amongst all of the pizzas that I've had in La Crosse, WI. The char on the crust added even more depth of flavor and the overall structure held up pretty well even after I brought my pie back home to enjoy. Their sauce tasted very balanced, not overly salted and not too acidic. I can tell they used a blend of cheeses on the pizza to round out the overall flavor. The onions were caramelized perfectly to where you can taste the onion's natural sweetness which complimented the savory-ness of the sausage. The sausage itself was not dry and very favorful. I would have preferred smaller chunks of sausage on the pizza so it would make it a bit easier to eat, but other than that it was still a tasty pizza and I would gladly return. Overall, the pizza was delicious, and every component of the pie tasted fresh. Considering the quality of their ingredients, their prices are pretty good and comparable to other pizzerias in the area. Service was casual and friendly. This place is located in downtown so you will need to find street parking. I'd recommend checking them out.

Hot Honey Pepperoni!!! AMAZING!!!!

My husband and I ate here last night, 11-11-23. I didn't know this gem existed, and it sits next to the Rivoli. I'm not sure if the same person that owns The Rivoli Theater owns this because you can go in between both places and order beers and other alcohol as well as sodas, and then go right back into the restaurant. There isn't a door you have to push open either to do this. The ambience looks between upscale and casual. There is a giant screen in the main dining area that is over 100 inches or so, which is VERY nice. I was surprised it wasn't busier than it was. We were able to get seated right away and service was 15-20 minutes to get our pizza after ordering! We ordered the Hot Honey Pepperoni, and it was absolutely delicious!!! Has pepperoni, dollops of whipped ricotta, and then garnished with slivers of fresh basil, drizzled with Mike's Hot Honey. It seemed like it was wood-fired and it was Ohhhh so good!!! By FAR the best place to get pizza in La Crosse, and probably Eau Claire both!!! Absolutely in love with this place!!! The only thing I wish is that there could be a little more heat in the building. It was pretty cold and we sat away from the door. It was only 40ish degrees last night, so I could only imagine what it would be like when it gets colder. This will be our go-to!! Whoever owns this place, thank you for bringing an amazing gourmet pizza place to LAX!!! Don't ever leave!!! Also, the prices were pretty reasonable! I do have to add, the restaurant itself DOES serve alcohol, but nothing on tap. I think maybe that could be an upgrade, especially if you have such a big bar area. Pizza and beer, you know they go together!!! Thank you Pizzeria Dolorosa!!

Half hot honey, half sausage and onion

Crust was very good, thin with little to no flop. The hot honey pepperoni is incredible. Sausage and onion also great but man... that hot honey had us longing for more. Only criticism is maybe sprinkle a lil more fresh parm. But would definitely return and recommend

This pizza was so good we went back the same night for more! Sauce is light, but flavorful and the crust. Wow. The crust is none like any pizza in the LaCrosse. Must try! Teenagers loved all three types we tried.

Slice of the sausage and onion pizza that was so good I had to order a second slice!!
