Out of downtown San Miguel is my favorite place on the entire island.
The pizza here is much better than I have had elsewhere so far, with the sesame seed crust tasting like a breadstick at the end of your pizza. The toppings are generous and cheese doesn't congeal before it gets to your table, something that unfortunately happens often on Cozumel.
The real reason you need to come to Pizza Rocha is for the tortas. The current promotion of two for 35 pesos is unbeatable. The pastor is cut fresh off the spit and added with assorted veggies to delicious bread. This would surely make a delicious torta. But then Pizzarocha goes above and beyond: they finish the sandwiches off in their brick oven. Served up warm with an amazing toasted crust, these tortas are made even better by the salsas provided. You may think you only want one, but trust me and order two per person. You will eat them.
I get them often for take-away and the service is still amazing. When I do sit down in their beer garden-esque setting, I always order the tepache. This freshly fermented pineapple drink is perfect in all weather. At 25 pesos, the same price as a beer there, it cannot be beat.
Bonus: they have recently had delicious looking cakes and tamales de elote out. Those will be in my near future. read more
