Even the pizza box is unique from the others in town. Awesome Pizza just like the box.
    Gary B.

I ordered a few items through their website the night before a small party we were hosting for my daughter's bday...cheese pizzas, pepperoni pizzas, breadsticks and jalapeño poppers. Our party started at 11am, so I scheduled a pick time of 11am the next day ( Saturday; they open at 11am)..sure enough 11am on the dot the doors were open and the person at the counter welcomed me. My order was ready to go and since I paid (for my order) via their portal...I was literally in the store 30 secs. The person who helped me was fast and otherwise friendly. Overall everyone loved everything we ordered...very good quality pizza, etc according to our guests. The "garlic cheesy bread" was a hit and regret I didn't order more! I wouldn't hesitate to dine in or place an order online or recommend them over the other Pizza restaurants in town. If there is something that raises an eyebrow with me, it's their online ordering portal...I found it at times a little confusing...I'm perhaps not the most savvy at online ordering because my preference is to visit the restaurant but still post Covid I imagine that every restaurants online ordering capability would be super easy.

Possibly raw chunks of bacon fat.

My daughter and I got sick off this pizza. I called to tell them the bacon was raw and that we got sick. They told me there was no way the bacon was raw because it comes precooked. Ok, so if we got sick immediately, then it must have been food poisoning, because getting sick from a few CUBES of bacon fat does not make you sick. It seems the bacon was placed under the cheese, steaming it so it didn't look cooked and wasn't at all crisp. I didn't even complain about the chicken wings. I ordered them extra crispy and the skin had the texture of boiled chicken skin. The sauce was oily and gross. Plenty of heat, but the flavor wasn't good. The kicker, the reason I am writing this review... didn't even get a call back from the manager. They offered to send a new one but why would want more of the pizza that made me sick? The last time I had Pizza Man Dan's I thought, it's no Toppers, but for $9.99 carry out deal, it's pretty good. Now they don't have that deal and the quality has plummeted. I'll pay the extra buck or two for Toppers.

    My 4 cheese pizza.
    Brenda L.

Just came home with our order and was NOT happy with our food. We ordered pick up and our 4 cheese pizza was not fresh or cheesy. It was dry and overcooked. It seemed like it had been sitting out for a long time. Our potato wedges were not as fresh as the first time we ordered them. This was our second visit (take-out). Our order was $45 and they still charged me for a side of ranch!!! .75 EACH container or $5.00 for the big one. NO THANK YOU! I will be taking my business to Toppers instead. Better quality pizza, always fresh (even at drive up), and they don't charge me .75 for a side of ranch! I'm sorry, but I will not be visiting again.

    Bottom, crust

Maybe the pizza is better if you order and eat there. Our experience last 2 times we ordered for delivery, the pizza's were over cooked, crust hard and black on the edges, and cheese burnt, meat burnt. We won't order delivery pizza there anymore. No quality control, I guess they figure if you order for delivery you're stuck with what you get. $93 for 2 burnt med pizzas and some wings .

All this spreading, and most of it was Raul.

When did PMD start charging a 4.00 delivery fee? A small cheese pizza with delivery is now almost 18.00. Yikes.

There were a couple people already waiting in line when we arrived, but no one at the register. After a few more minutes the people ahead of us got tired of waiting and left. We had already had our minds set on a few menu items to try so we waited. The team member who took our order was very nice but a bit slow at the register. We weren't in a rush, so it didn't really bother us. The husband was quite hungry, so we ended up over-ordering -- House Chips & Cheese, Potato Bacon Pizza, Short-Rib Melt and Pastrami. It all came our pretty fast and it was ALOT (lol)! The House Chips were generous, fresh and tasty. The Potato Bacon pizza was delicious! The sandwiches, although flavorful, were kinda skimpy. We felt that we were biting into mostly bread. The fries were hot and super crispy. Service was great overall. There's a flat screen TV in the middle of the dining room that was showing college football. I liked that takeout boxes for leftovers were easily accessible to everyone. There's ample seating inside and several picnic tables at the shared area outside. The layout is nice with three connected establishments -- Freda's, Rori's and Topa Topa. I think they have gone through new employees over the years and when it's new employees working the service can be slow. I know one time I was in there and the kid behind the register was going snails pace...unfortunately this was on the local college's graduation day so the place was packed. I should have known better. Like any place, try to go during non-peak hours. Easier said than done with work and such. We just went on a Friday at opening (12pm) and the service was fantastic. We like to sit outside in the covered patio. Parking is awful as the Blvd is always busy. Just have to pray and try to time it out nicely. I do appreciate that Freda's is next to and in same building as Rori's ice cream and Topa Topa Brewing. Pizza, ice cream, and beer/hard seltzer/ciders. And Cafe Ficelle is also next door so add good iced coffee to the mix! Good combination for a couple of hours with friends and the kids.

It's one of the reasons I keep coming back and continue ordering takeout. What has become frustrating, though, is the experience I have almost every time I pick up my food. Whenever I ask for something simple like a bag, utensils, or any other basic takeout item, I'm often met with eye rolling, annoyed looks, or an attitude that makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing someone. As a paying customer, I'm not asking for anything special--just the basics that usually come with a takeout order. After experiencing the same reaction multiple times, it starts to feel less like a bad day and more like a pattern. I want to be clear: this isn't about the food. The food is great, and that's why I keep coming back. I just wish the customer service matched the quality of what's coming out of the kitchen. I'm sharing this because I'd like to see the experience improve. Institution Ale has a lot going for it, and a little more friendliness at the takeout counter would go a long way.

I wait around a bit and see someone walking around the back, flag them down and order a pizza, half cheese half pepperoni. 30 minutes pass and I went back to ask on an ETA, being assured it was just going in the oven at that point and would be out shortly. 5-10 minutes later it was finally at my lane, I honestly think he had forgotten about it. The pizza looked gross, with sparsely scattered cheese that didn't even look melted, but I chalked it up to the bowling alleys neon lights. I picked a floppy greasy slice up and took a bite to discover the burnt bottom. The sauce was devoid of any flavor, just a water mess that mixed with the grease and dripped in the paper plate with each bite. I guess it was what you'd expect at a bowling alley but I felt disappointed and deceived by the 4 stars on Yelp. In fact we came here specifically to try the pizza and ended up bowling as well. After the first bite I thought to myself that I had paid for it, $25 + tip. I was also hungry, and so I ate 3 slices. I figured if I could get 3 slices down I guess it's worth 2 stars. However a few hours later my stomach was angry with me, it audibly let me know how upset it was, and I fear it's retribution for what I put in it. The place is old, has that old bowling alley smell, and is in need of renovating. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.
