Overall 3 stars: A converted gas station with three other food trucks in the parking lot but we are talking about the pizza joint. Ambiance: 4 stars - the vibe is really laid back, family friendly and open seating. Probably twenty tables but the tables can be accommodate two - twelve people. There is a wall beer / wine tap. The are about 12 local beers and a couple of wine variations. To drink the beers or wine, you will need to request a card where you add to the selection to activate the tap to pour. Prices are per oz basis. So you could have several samples without filling the mug up. Service: 3.75 stars - order at the counter, request for the drink card, grab your cups for the fountain drinks, and grab a table. They will bring the food to you. Food: 3 stars - Pizzas are cooked in a dome brick fire oven. Thin crust style 1. Carribea - 3 stars - a special containing ham, mushrooms, Kalamata olives, pickled artichokes, and mozzarella. Sauce is red tomato. - This pizza had a lot of potential but it fell "flat" due to the neutral taste of the ingredients. Though there was plenty of ingredients, it lacked herb seasoning. Also, due to the wet ingredients ( artichokes, mushrooms, and olives), the crust stay really moist on the bottom, so the crust was really limped. The ingredients were falling off the crust when trying to pick it up or with a fork. 2. Bianca- 3.25 Stars - if you are a vegetarian, this is good pizza to have. The white cream sauce had a garlic based with the right amount of herb seasoning. The fresh arugula on top had a slight peppery taste the crust was crunchy. We tried this place while vacationing in Perdido Key. The young lady running the cash register was not the most friendliest person ever. No personality to be the first face of a restaurant. While taking our order she was also not very helpful in making decisions and answering questions about the menu. As we left (it's a small place). She never spoke once to us (party of 6). All that being said we ordered four pizzas and cheese sticks. Everything was delicious. Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Always incredible! These folks are artists. We long for this pizza and enjoy it several times when in town. Crust is thin but still has that perfect chew in the edge and slight char that makes it tasty even when it's just crust, mark of a fine pizza. We ordered the Diavolo- so spicy delish and tasty - and the fresh buffalo mozarella- !!!! We also ordered the Focaccia- which is not traditional but also a knock put. Different type of restaurant where most things are self served. Drinks, beer, cheese, etc. There machines start with 15% and higher for tips or a custom option. Not sure why they would request this. Think Walmart implementing bag the items yourself. I went with the Margherita thinking classic Italian and sadly disappointed. In my opinion, the bread/crust was the worst part. Not sure how this "find" of a pizzaria is doing with locals, but if they've never had a chance to eat the real thing in the Italian homeland, no need to rush out a get a passport: Pizzaluté should be a destination all its own. (Definitely worth the drive from Mobile!) This is truly authentic Neapolitan pizza made with love. Hand-stretched dough, baked quickly in a real, wood-fired Neapolitan oven, producing a bubbly, chewy crust, and a perfect char. This low-key place has invested where it counts...not in white-tablecloth service, but in a great oven and the best ingredients. Tomato sauce of perfect simplicity made from italian plum tomatoes. Fresh mozzarella. (Yes, FRESH. Not the usual, semi-dried shredded junk in plastic bags.) Fresh whole basil leaves. My only quibble with my margherita pizza would be the added garlic, which is not characteristic of the classic Margh, but I do like garlic;-) Beer bar is a fun added attraction. Even had a couple of quaffable wines on tap (a grüner veltliner and a pinot noir...would have loved a sangiovese). The gelato offerings are also a very nice thought for Pizzaluté's concept, but the flavors have more of a beach vibe than Italian. I did notice that the sweet cream flavor (fiordilatte, an Italian favorite) was almost sold out, so the local folks must have a taste for it! How about some stracciatella and nocciola?! read more

Pizzalute did a great job refurbishing a once Shell gas station into a pizza restaurant. Beautiful inlaid wood ceiling. A great layout' but little else. I'm sure it's yet to come. Wood fire pizza as opposed to propane is a big difference. Wood imparts flavor and removes moisture. Huge, huge quality difference. Pizzalute has that Woodfired oven. Staff, very friendly and professional, but I'd expect that anywhere. The menu has interesting selections. But, it is small enough no to be overwhelming. Unlike Lillian's Pizza the tomato sauce doesn't come from a #10 can of Hunts Tomato sauce. Here it's the real deal. Everything appears fresh. I ordered the capricciosa pizza, very good very fresh. I have no complaints. This is not your Domino's or Little Ceaser pizza. It is not a conveyor belt pizza place. So, this brings me to price point. I was a weekly aficionados at the Big Cheese in Miami, great pizza, and great friends. A large pizza two toppings was $17.00. Here my capriccios was $20.00. That's four toppings, so yes they have Miami prices, but check Lillian's I believe there similar, yet this place runs circles around them. Staff is small and you can see the pride and team work happening. Great addition to our area. They have switched to takeout only as of yesterday and when you call the number goes prerecord answering service if the line is busy, u press "0" the 1st time we called we were asked to leave a message the 2nd time they picked up. The food is very good. They do a very good job. Very nice people. Cool vibe. My only "negative" was the Caesar salad with focaccia. To be clear, both were delicious. However, they are using the term "Caesar salad" very loosely. I don't think it's a Caesar salad. Again, it's delicious, just not a Caesar Salad. The "focaccia" is not even used loosely. It's incorrect. They serve super yummy pizza dough with olive oil and herbs with the salad. It's delicious, but it's not focaccia. (Watch the salt episode of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat for a good primer on Focaccia). We drove here from Gulf Shores. Totally worth it. We appreciate this addition to the local food scene! read more

Recently bought a place in the area and have been exploring nearby restaurants. Family felt like pizza and came here. The parking lot shows this was obviously an old gas station. Ordered the Diavola and Margherita pizzas and they were both delicious. Pizzas are about 13-14 inches (6 slices). Diavola was essentially a spicy meat lover's with an extra kick to it. Only 3 of us and we finished both pizzas. Will certainly recommend to others and come back to try the other pizzas. read more
